Ick.. place is gross. Carpet walls, bathrooms, just icky. You get high walking in from the weed smell. Bartenders are rude. Just no good.

We sat inside and the decor was dated and a dingy. There was also food smeared on the wall near our table, and the tablecloths were noticeably sticky. The drinks were decent. I ordered an Irish coffee, which was well-made and enjoyable. Things went downhill once we ordered food. I asked our waitress for a recommendation between the walleye and the salmon. She said, "Well, I'm partial to fish so I would say the walleye." I did order the walleye but the dish came out cold and lacked flavor. To top it off, it was served on a plastic, fish-shaped plate--not what you'd expect for a $22 entrée. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp with mashed potatoes. When his meal arrived, the potatoes were missing. He let the waitress know, but after waiting 15 minutes with no sign of them, he asked to cancel the side. Even after our entire party had finished eating, the waitress didn't come back for another 15 minutes. We asked for the check, and still had to wait another 10 minutes before she returned--without the bill. Overall, the service was slow and inattentive, and the food was mediocre at best. While the drinks were okay, it wasn't nearly enough to make up for the rest of the experience. For the price, we definitely expected better. We will not be returning.

Service was on the slower side, though our waitress was friendly and pleasant throughout our visit. The food was very average overall. The walleye platter was disappointing, as there were quite a few bones in the filet. The half chicken, however, was good and probably the best item at our table. Overall, it's a nice spot for the view and a casual meal, but the food and service were just okay and not necessarily worth going out of your way for.

It's a great campground/permanent place to stay with great neighbors, a large lake, and plenty of things to do, and to go relax. My wife's father in law is having an upcoming birthday, and we bought the extended family dinner at the local Waterfront restaurant. This place is always packed and is open for dinner only except on Fridays and weekends I believe. When we arrived at about 4:30 pm, we were seated immediately and there were a total of six of us. Two children, and four adults. We all ordered apps, mains, and drinks. The wife and I ordered a martini on the rocks, as in a lowball glass, filled with ice, and vodka. Nothing else. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Sure enough, a stacked glass, ice and vodka. I think I caught the waiter winking at my wife when he dropped off her drink... Anyway, the apps were Bavarian pretzels and cheese curds. Sounds simple enough, but they were perfectly fried, and the pretzels were so hot no one could touch them for about 20 minutes. They had a super crisp outer brown crust, and were pipping hot and tender on the inside. They were served with a nice cheese sauce on the side. Get these. The cheese curds looked very good as well with a nice flaky crust, and served with a side of marinara sauce. Unfortunately, the kids shoved these into their respective face holes so fast I didn't get to try them. Looked good though. The mains were pasta and a hamburger for the kids, and the adults got a steak filet, a bowl of chili, beer battered jumbo tiger prawns, and I tried the beer battered Canadian walleye, broiled tiger prawns, and broiled scallops. The mains came with a nice side salad with fresh peas. The salad was pretty run of the mill, but the peas were a nice sweet touch. The potatoes au gratin were very good as well. One of the better sides. Again, these came so hot that it came with two ceramic dishes stacked on top of each other. I would recommend the fried beer battered tiger shrimp. They were huge, and looked like small lobster tails. Perfectly fried and the shrimp was moist on the inside. The walleye was pretty good as well. The pricing of the food was pretty decent as well. With drinks, apps, mains, and 20% tip, the total came to $275.00 for the six of us. A bit spendy? I thought it was a decent price to pay for a very good dinner for a special occasion. Well worth it, and I will definitely be back.

I have not been to Cokato in the eight years that I have lived in Minnesota, so I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant space is called upstairs, and the bar is downstairs. It was quiet and the ambiance was great. I did not catch her name, but the lady working there was incredible. She was the only one helping the customers, but she did it all with grace. Shout out to her! For the food, we got their special which was the flame grilled steak and grilled walleye. They were delicious. I did not expect the portion to be that big considering it was $23 for the two meals. We also got their Mac Bites appetizer. Those were good as well. I started following them on Facebook after this meal. I hope to catch more special deals here! Tip: It looks like the deals start at 5PM. If you are in a hurry, come as close to 5PM as possible. The upstairs fill fast!

We went to the bar instead. Menu is basically burgers and sandwiches. Food was not bad but not good either. Nothing special. Waitress was nice but was alone, which made things slow. Outdoor seating is for smokers so we chose to eat inside on a beautiful evening. Bottom line, it's a bar, not a restaurant. If you want a place that's kind of dive bar like, then this would be a good place. If you're looking for a nice meal I wouldn't recommend it.
