I love bookstores. If I could, I would live in one. I enter one almost every day if I can. This Renaud Bray is huge and during Christmastime, they have some really sweet deals. I scored a 1000 piece puzzle for 4$!! The first floor is mainly kitchen stuff, stationary, CDS/DVDS, and the hottest books of the moment. The second floor is adult books. The third floor is toys and kids books. I don't read much in French, so I often skip the second floor. But the third floor is so fascinating. They have so many puzzles and new board games, I love browsing. They have a tiny section of YA books in english, it will mostly be the popular titles. I love it here. It's so cozy and inviting. I wish they had some small areas where you could sit and enjoy basking in the glory of their products, but I probably wouldn't buy anything if that was the case. I placed an order on February 3rd for some books, they immediately updated to 'supplier follow up in progress' and haven't changed beyond that so I emailed customer support a week ago asking for an update and they ignored the inquiry. So I sent another emailing requesting they cancel the order and refund it, which they didn't reply to again. Unprofessional company with zero customer service, will not be a returning customer. read more

Whereas soooo many stores and bistros and restaurants have changed or disappeared on Laurier and in the area, it was a very welcome surprise that this large, multi-level (3 stories) bookstore is still here. Although I hate to call it a bookstore, as it sells so much more: The main level has toys, kitchen stuff, journals and stationery and cards, school notepads and office/workspace stuff, calendars, gourmet teas and chocolates and reading/book accessories. There were some small glass plates here that I regret not getting as gifts; at $6 each, they easily liked like they cost four times at amount. And there were some funky glass cheese platters as well that I regret not buying. Dang, I'm going to have to go back..... The upper two levels are comprised of French books for sale. This is a great store. Prepare to spend time here browsing. read more

This almost seems like a portal to Paris. Very upscale store with a clientele to match. No couches or benches, a la Chapters/Indigo. But the layout and presentation of the books and kitchen stuff makes you want to stay and stay some more read more
