From day one rob (manager) has been over the top helpful even going as far as going out with new boaters to show them the area. The dock hands also are helpful. The bait and tackle shop owner Tom is helpful and extremely knowledgeable and enjoys sharing his time and experiences. The corral house serves delicious tapas. And it's a refreshing change from the same old local food.

Upon check-in we'd learned that the limit is typically 4 people (700 lb maximum), but since most of us are pretty small we were well under that weight limit even as five people, so they allowed it (and I lived to write this review so, all good). After signing my life away and a very quick motor tutorial by a kid who looked like he couldn't be older than middle school, we were on our way. The motor on this boat took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I was a pretty good captain (I'd like to think). We put down the anchor and got out to explore Bird and Gull Islands, then headed over to another beach with a hill to climb up and get a bird's eye view of the area. Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the harbor, but we kept the party going with some drinks and food (will review that separately). Jay (who I think is the owner or manager?) told us we were only allowed to rent a boat if we took a picture and it turns out he was serious (see the photo shoot results in my photos which turned out pretty cute). He took these on his phone so not sure what else he plans to do with them.

RIP OFF, STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY. I made a refundable deposit of $500 for a used boat that I later changed my mind about because I was not ready. The owner, Swezey a lady charge my Chase card after pushing me for a deposit. Apparently an 04 Monterrey is somewhat of a quick seller in the fall of 2015. Mind you the boat was listed at least a year ago. Reluctantly, I let her charge my card and she reassured me that the deposit was refundable. This was in September, 2015. Between November, 2015 to March 2016 I have been calling and texting this marina and its owner for my deposit back. (I had changed my mind and decided to forgo a boat this year. ) Many calls went to voicemail and text went unanswered. I should've pursed more vigorously but I trusted them. I am very busy father of 4 and I run a small business. I thought I was dealing with a reputable, honest company. In the last few text, she (the owner) said she had its been too long and that she couldn't refund me. Mind you, I was calling and texting her to refund my money. Then her story changed to she has to refuse other buyers because I had a deposit. If she had any legitimate buyers she could have easily contacted me as she have done in the past and simply said, I have a buyer, do you still want the boat? Simple right, apparently not to her. She deliberately played stupid on that idea instead choosing a more sleazy direction. Then she said, her mechanic Charles will call me. So that's strange. Why would her mechanic call me when he and I never conducted any business. So here is where the story went from absurd to bizarre and out right fraud. This guy, Charles called me in a last Sunday when I about to take my kids to their practice and said that, oh no no, I actually owed him $850. For what I asked ? He said because he had to put on the out drive and take it off for the bay test. Do you believe this guy?...what a joke. So this guy, Charles, apparently is the owner / mechanic for the Southwest Marina at the same address. (A quick Google search showed that the company had 1 review that he probably wrote himself. ) I was going no where with this guy whom I wasn't sure why I was talking to him t begin with. I tried reaching out to Swezey marina again pleading with her to refund my $500 to no avail. This is not to way to do business on Long Island. Shame on you. It went so far that for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary at the Fox Hollow Inn in Old Westbury, it was attended by Ranee. Herself coming from eastern Long Island, she did not have to do that. But having her there with my entire family (perhaps 100 people), including a couple that flew in from Grants Pass. It meant a lot. I'll never forget her being there for this. I like the marina, sequestered away in a quiet residential community. If you're looking for a secure marina for your vessel, this one should be considered.

Clearly, they didn't clean out & winterize the engine properly. We got charged another ridiculous amount of money for what was included on the bill from storing it. When we first picked it up for the season, they knew we were coming after hours & didn't put any gas in it so we needed Sea Tow's help. We didn't think to bring gas bc it's a short ride & we never had that problem in the past. After deciding to store it in our yard, we discovered these holes that could only have been caused by their storage methods. They painted over the holes. One had been taking on water. We will never use them again.
