There are things I'm willing to do around the house...but this ain't one of them so she decided to get some quotes. Since this was the first part of the project, and the most expensive part of the project, I really wanted someone who I felt comfortable with. We brought in a couple guys for quotes and Joe was just great from the time he walked in the door. He's not your normal contractor-I was expecting a gruff guy to drive up in a crappy old pickup, throw us a quote and not really give a crap if he got the job (that was one of the OTHER guys, by the way). Nope, Joe was great-listened to our questions, walked us through the process, and helped us decide on the best flooring for what we were going to spend. My wife's review: What an amazing experience! Joe is incredible. He arrived for our quote on time & provided an incredible "Flooring 101" for us. He suggested appropriate flooring, and clearly outlined the project on a written quote. He was patient with us, and once he started, the work was done quickly, cleanly, and with incredible attention to detail. We did a new install as well as a refinishing, and I just cannot say enough about how much FUN it was to work with Joe. My floors far exceed my expectations, and simply take my breath away each time I look at them. A great experience with our hard-earned money on a project of my dreams. Seriously, Joe was great and if I had to do it all over again Joe would be the only guy I called to install flooring. Joe gave us exactly what we wanted, stayed on schedule, kept the house clean, and didn't stray from the quote he gave us. After showing Joe my hardwood floor needing rescue, he gave me a clear and concise rationale for why my flooring (laminate) wasn't ideal for sanding. I had water damage to one of my room upstairs due to a radiator leak. I wasn't sure if we needed to do just the 1 room or the whole upstairs since the wood is all connected. When I had spoken to him on the phone he said there may be a slightly different color if we do just the one room. So before he came out, I asked if he can get us both quotes. He came out when I wasn't home but my wife was. He didn't measure anything. Look at the room where the damage was and left. He didn't look at the rest of the upstairs. I didn't get a message for him so I texted him. He gave me a quote for the one room. I asked, do you have a quote for how much it would be for the whole upstairs. He said he didn't look at the other room upstairs. I described the size of the other room upstairs and he texted back with a quote. I asked if you can send me in writing the 2 quotes. He said he has to charge me $150 for the quotes. Then I said, "What? Why?" He never responded. Just in case he didn't see it, I text him again the next day. He didn't respond again.
