Afternoon Estate Sales - Afternoon Estate Sale

Afternoon Estate Sales

(12 reviews)

It is impossible to describe what a Godsend Afternoon Estate Sales was for us. Arthur, his wife…read moreand son did a spectacular job! My mother recently passed away after a very difficult six months and my father downsized from the large home they lived in for the past 45 years to an apartment. As a family, we were grieving, exhausted and overwhelmed at the thought of somehow having an estate sale that encompassed a home full of belongings. Hiring Afternoon Estate Sales was like waving a magic wand. They took virtually the entire burden from us. After we removed what we wanted to keep, they worked for two weeks prior to the sale; researching, pricing, organized and displayed everything and guided us through the process of the actual sale, which was very successful. But more than that, in a day where it's difficult to get the minimum of customer service, Arthur goes out of his way to deliver more than you expect. His knowledge and expertise about the Dallas area market, what is likely to sell and how to price more interesting/expensive items was invaluable. So to, his knowledge of jewelry. He discovered that several pieces we thought were costume, were in fact, quite valuable. In my experience of working with him very closely for the past month or so, his work ethic and honesty are impeccable. I cannot recommend him and Afternoon Estate Sales highly enough. We would give him 10 stars if we could.

If needed I will definitely call Afternoon Estate Sales again.

I used the folks at TNT to handle my Dad's estate sale and I was incredibly pleased and impressed…read morewith their work. I mostly communicated with Thomas and he was very friendly and easy to work with. Everyone I talked to with the team was great. I choose to stay out of their way and let them do their thing and was glad I did. It was a lot off my mind. I was blown away when I walked into the house after they set it all up for the sale. They did a LOT of work in one day. The sale itself was a big success and I was very happy with the results.

**Extremely Disappointing Experience -- Lack of Accountability and Honesty**…read more I genuinely wanted to leave this company a five-star review. Initially, they were communicative, professional, and seemed to do a great job managing my estate sale. Unfortunately, what happened at the end completely changed my opinion of this company. I had a very expensive bicycle that was **NOT FOR SALE**. Per the company's instructions, I covered the bicycle in blue painter's tape with multiple clearly visible labels stating "DO NOT SELL." There was absolutely no ambiguity about whether this item was supposed to be sold. On Friday evening, I moved the bicycle inside my garage for safekeeping. When I returned after the estate sale was completed, the bicycle was gone. I immediately contacted the owner, who assured me that he had spoken with his entire team and was adamant that nobody had sold the bicycle. He repeatedly maintained that no one on his team had seen or sold it. However, after reviewing my home security footage, I discovered video evidence of a customer **walking out of my home with the bicycle during the estate sale**. I sent this footage directly to the owner, clearly showing the bicycle leaving my property. His response? **Absolutely nothing.** No apology. No explanation. No attempt to locate the bicycle. No offer of reimbursement. Not even the courtesy of acknowledging the video evidence I provided. What bothers me most isn't simply that an expensive item I explicitly marked NOT FOR SALE disappeared. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What is unacceptable is the complete lack of accountability, transparency, and professionalism once the mistake was brought to their attention. If I was told with absolute certainty that my bicycle was never sold, only to discover video evidence contradicting that claim, how am I supposed to trust the accounting and handling of the rest of my belongings? An estate sale company is entrusted with people's valuable possessions, often during significant life transitions. **That trust is everything.** I gave this company every opportunity to address the situation professionally, and instead, I was met with silence. It's incredibly unfortunate because the experience started so positively. But the way a business handles problems says far more about its integrity than how it handles things when everything is going well.. **I would strongly caution anyone considering this company to carefully document their belongings, monitor their property, and understand what recourse they have if something goes wrong.** I sincerely hope the owner chooses to make this right, but as of writing this review, I have received no resolution or meaningful response.

Highly recommended; a great experience in every respect. They were very efficient going through…read moreeverything in the home and pricing and staging the items for sale. The sale was conducted very professionally, and we were more than pleased with the outcome. They took care of donating the remaining items, giving us a receipt and photos for documentation of the donation, and left the house cleaner than when we started. I feel sure we would not have come out better conducting a sale ourselves, and would have spent far more time to achieve anything close to their results. Beyond this, the staff was friendly and kind to my mother and our family, and I felt great about their communication. They made it very clear what was included in their service, and handled everything with integrity and transparency. Certainly would use them again or refer them to friends or neighbors needing to conduct an estate sale.

One of the business owners got back to me. She apologized for my "perspective" of what happened…read more She also blamed it on this time being an emotional time for my family and I. It has nothing to do with emotions it has to do with cash and how much was taken. I'm writing this review almost a year and a half after the incident so there are no emotions that are raw or exaggerated. I really hope my original review remains or else I'm gonna have to redo it. Like someone else said, you might as well open the doors and have a sale yourself. At least you might make a little bit more money than they'll give you.
