The best massage I've ever had was on my honeymoon in Montana by a gal who was living at the resort…read morefor the summer only and returning to Florida again in the Fall of 2009. I wish I knew her name and I'd recommend her on here, too. Anyway, Gail Bauer of Essential Kneads almost pushed that girl off my pedastal... but now she just sits up there with her... and probably because the first girl has sentimental value associated with her being it was my honeymoon. Gail is an amazing massage therapist! She listens to what you want, is very knowledgeable, makes you feel comfortable, and knows how to apply pressure! I met Gail when she did a demo at a Belk Department Store event in mid 2011. She won me over when she about knocked me out of her demo chair! I knew right away that she wasn't timid about working tight muscles and could get in there and work out those kinks. I booked a full body massage at her introductory rate which I thought was very reasonable. Her facility is a little tricky to find, but once you get there, the lobby is spacious and comfortable with her massage room down a short corridor and behind substantial noise barriers. There was a party going on at another tenants office, but I wasn't disturbed by the occassional belly laughs that filtered through the walls. The music was soothing, the room was decorated nicely and was very clean. There was plenty of space for Gail to easily move around the table as she worked without bumping or jarring me in any way. Her lotions smelled nice without being overwhelming. She is polite and communicates whe she is doing/about to do without being annoying about it (i.e. tell me, but I don't need a play by play). I feel like for the introductory price (which I think was $49) and for the level of pressure I received, I got an amazing deal. I like a LOT of pressure and she delivered. I highly recommend her, even if pressure isn't your thing. She massaged my husband a few weeks ago, and he's not as in to deep tissue as I am. He loved it. Thanks, Gail!!

I sprinted up the steps to the door about two minutes after my one o'clock appointment time and was relieved to see the completely calm and collected massage therapist come in right behind me, undisturbed by my lack of punctuality. In the waiting room, I noticed a salt crystal lamp and mentioned that my uncle had given me one for Christmas one year. At first I thought it was a strange gift, but now I love it. Ashley, the massage therapist, explained that the salt crystal lamps discharge negative ions to counterbalance the positive ions with which we are bombarded every day from various electronic devices. (I've kept mine turned on every day since then!) After the initial paperwork, Ashely talked to me about my expectations for the massage and made me feel perfectly at ease. The massage was WONDERFUL! I almost fell asleep, and even after sitting to drink some water I had to stumble a bit incoherently to my vehicle....

Although this spa is FULL service, I only tried the facials (at first). They are WONDERFUL! Christine, the esthetician, was thorough and wonderrfully relaxing! The best? She was HONEST. So many business will tell you that you NEED to do "XYZ" or come back "X" times per week/month. At LaBella, they tell you the TRUTH and what is right for your skin and you! Of course they want to make money, but they do not PUSH anything on you. The honesty, integrity, service and of course, the sessions, will keep me coming back and telling ALL of my friends to use them. Next was the massage! OH MY GOODNESS!! Ellie gives the BEST deep tissue massages EVER!! If you like getting massages, she is your girl. The entire staff is professional and wonderful. The new owners have worked very hard to turn around the "bad" reputation from the former owners and they have certainly succeeded! I'll be back! :-)

If I could simply review my massage and facial, I would give it a 5. Kim was fantastic. She was…read moreprofessional, did just the right amount of chit chat so I could relax, and my skin really does look amazing. However, my overall experience is a 1 star because of everything that happened after Kim. My husband scheduled me for a massage and facial, hair cut with blow dry, and manicure. It was to start at 10am and I was told to expect to stay until 12:30ish. They asked if I would need any snacks and I said that would be great since I'm pregnant. I figured 2 and a half hours and I would get some lunch afterwards. After my awesome massage and facial with Kim, I had high hopes for the rest of the experience. Paige was to do my hair cut and manicure. I told her I wanted to cut my long hair shorter. About shoulder length and shorter in the back to longer in the front. She starts off by spraying water all down my shirt (she did apologize a few times). Then she tries to wrap my hair in a towel...and can't. So she begins my never ending haircut. There's no chit chat. It's dead silent in the spa. Except of course for the owner chatting about someone in her family upsetting her and the occasional curse word. Professional. Kim notices I've been sitting there (forever) awkwardly with nothing to pass the time since no one is even doing a little small talk with me and asks if I would like some magazines to read, which I gladly accept. When she looks like she's finishing up I'm thinking to myself about how I'm going to have to get this fixed somewhere else. My right side is at least an inch longer than my left. She hands me the mirror and goes on about it. Then finally says "do you think one side is longer than the other?" Hm, maybe. She "fixes" it twice. The right side is still longer. I stand up done and then "oh wait just a second" and begins cutting off the back as I'm standing up. There's really no difference between the front and back in length. Now my "manicure." I use this term very loosely. There is absolutely, 110% no way Paige is certified to do nails. She soaked my hands in soapy water and began scrubbing them with a nail brush (flicked water all over my face). then squeezes some cuticle remover on them, rubs it, pushes with a cuticle stick..thing? (never seen this before), and tries to remove my cuticles which are not soft at this point so that was painful. She asks me how I like my nails and I say just a little trim. My nails were long and healthy from prenatals. She begins cutting my nails with a cuticle trimmer/toe nail cutter. I honestly think she was confused as to why she was having such a hard time trimming my nails. She cuts one too short and says oops, then continues cutting all of them short. "Files" them. Buffs them incorrectly. Then gives me the saddest, shortest hand/arm massage ever. Paints my nails like a 12 year old at a slumber party and sprays an absurd amount of dryer all over. Now my nails look as sad as hers did. They're all uneven and unshaped. Oh, and this took 4 1/2 hours. I did not leave there until 2:30. My 2 1/2 hour spa day took 4 1/2 hours. I'm pregnant. I had not eaten more than the banana they gave me in 6 hours. I left and cried. It was that bad. I've already scheduled my appointment to get my hair fixed tomorrow morning. I would also like to add. I don't know what's up with this "genbook" site and all their amazing 5 star reviews. 33 reviews in 2 months? All perfect? Someone called Paige wonderful? I wonder who made those.
