Saw some reviews saying something about a Harry Potter vibe, but I didn't get that at all. It has some cool elements, but definitely did not live up to those expectations. Had a nice beer selection on tap. And prices were quite reasonable. Ended up picking up a few interesting beers on my way out.

When I got to the club they asked me for my ID to which I handed it over but to my surprise didn't let me in, the reason being that my ID didn't show my date of birth. I didn't bring my passport for obvious safety reasons thinking it wouldn't be a problem showing my ID as long as I am of age. After much effort nagging the security to just search on Google how to read a Romanian ID (my luck it was also raining that day and had to wait in the rain) ew years eve at Popworld hoping to have a good time. It's a pub, but it's also a museum of sorts for you guessed it, The Stone Roses (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE), Oasis, Joy Division, and the like. If I could win the lottery, which I have never played, I would move to York and be within walking distance of The Stone Roses Bar. The staff are superb. Exceptional humans. The bar is nothing short of perfection. The drinks are well-made, tasty, and affordable. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Always. Looking forward to my next visit.

A mix of people go there, young people as well as older ones and everyone seems to have a laugh. Prices are, again, quite typical, more expensive than a pub but not too bad. They often have drinks offers on, and Thursday nights are very cheap. Nothing spectacular but a fun night.

Also located convenietly for Micklegate which is a street full of pubs. So basically this Wetherspoons is a great starting/meeting point for a night out! Has the usual brilliantly cheap Wetherspoons food & drink prices and stocks a wide range of drinks with a fairly extensive food menu also. It's great because you can go any time of day and have breakfast/lunch/dinner/drinks/coffee and also there's free wi-fi. This branch is clean and the staff are polite and friendly. Good pub.

Seriously poor experience…read more Arrived around 2.30pm and asked to be seated outside. No one came to our table to take our order so after 20 mins I went in search of a waitress. Drinks n food order were taken and advised that our food would be 40 mins. Which we accepted despite it not being busy. During the wait and our meal we asked for another round of drinks THREE times, twice getting up to ask a waitress. These finally arrived about 5 mins after we had finished our meal. We explained they were no longer needed. (It was about 3.45pm) Obviously we were not waiting to get the bill at the table so went inside and dragged to three different tills before they were willing to accept payment. At which point I bumped into the front of house manager and explained our disappointment - he shrugged and told us they were busy. I've been to this bar many times, the food is good and the wait staff were nice (abet useless), it certainly was not busy, at least a 3rd of the outside tables were empty (on a hot sunny day) and there was 4 tables inside being used. I mentioned this and again was blown off with an inattentive 'sorry'. If he'd looked at me and said "I don't care" I'd of least respected him for being honest. They also tried to charge us for the drinks that we waited over 45 mins for, but by that time it just took a look for them to remove that from the bill.

It is a spacious place and always looks very colorful and you will see all different types of people on birthdays and hen nights and they all look like they are having a great time which is always essential on any kind of night out.

If your doining the 'Micklegate Run' and can't be bothered with walking down to the Gallery then I guess Ziggys would be fine, certainly it attracts a younger crowd than Toff's so if your after a messy night out then Ziggys is waiting for you.
