I called around for prices, and one mover went from $5000 to $10200 2 days before loading was to happen. Luckily, I was not in a hurry to move my stuff. A friend used Jerry Reither to move local, so I called, and at first, it sounded hokey. He went to the house and gave me a quote that we agreed on. He said he would pack the remaining items and load them up one day and deliver the next from Amarillo to Cincinnati. No contract, just word of mouth. He needed to change days a few times, but I was good with that. As I said, I was not in a hurry. SO .. be flexible, and that was it. Jerry loaded my stuff, packed what remained, and delivered the next day as promised. So be flexible, patient, and Jerry is your guy! read more

Let's be fair. Jerry's a good guy. He called in a bind & asked to move my date up. No problem. I worked with his schedule & moved my date up 4 days. He brought Junior & they got my small job in 2 hours. They worked well, very courteous & efficient. No wardrobes or boxes, so I had to put my Hangup in large trash bags last minute, but hey - worse things can happen. We rolled with it. He stayed in contact with my son (in NC) about delivery, as time changed. But again. We rolled with it. No problem. Until - he showed up alone!! Expected my son to be his crew! Now my son's a great guy & physically able, so he did. But, this wasn't the contract. Further, they carried things up & Jerry left. The bed wasn't put together. The furniture wasn't placed. The drawers weren't back in the desk. Incomplete job from the video I saw. So ... when my son asked Jerry if he was alone on the drive from Texas to North Carolina, Jerry said "Yes, I'd have to pay somebody $600 to come along." He certainly didn't offer my son any $$ for his help unloading or the bed assembly and furniture moving he'll be doing now that Jerry's gone. I paid the full contract, but certainly do NOT recommend using for moves out of area. read more

Overall the value of the services was decent. However, scheduling and communication should have been better. There were two points of contention that should be addressed and we're unprofessional: - At one point I was told, "I'm only doing this job to help you out and because I was in town" (it was a long distance move and he dropped someone off in the same city that morning, therefore he was probably highly motivated to find a return trip instead of dead heading), and - "I haven't had a day off in who knows how long." How is this EVER the customers problem? (He was referring to the fact that he wanted to unload a day early, instead of the time originally discussed. This left me scrambling to find someone to help me get keys before the apt office closed). If he didn't want to do the job then he should have said no, and I would have made other arrangements! Overall, he was friendly and got the job done quickly, including having extra people help when we arrived at the destination. My main issue was the two comments above, and then the communication trying to nail down a time for both loading and unloading. In the end the price was good, but you get what you pay for. read more

Ok, first off, let me say that I was in a world of hurt as I was driving into Amarillo from Fort Worth. I had a trailer load of furniture that had to be delivered to a third floor apartment and the company I had set things up with went radio silent. Wouldn't answer their phone, wouldn't return text messages....I was super pissed. About two hours out, I had to scramble to get in touch with someone. I pulled up a list of movers and started calling. Lots of answering machines. Another that found my situation quite comical but unable to help. Then I called Reither Moving. Ok, get this. The owner was on freaking vacation in South Carolina and STILL ANSWERED HIS PHONE. He understood and sympathized with my situation. He told me to sit tight and he would call me back. He did exactly that and said "Look, I know you are in a tough spot, so I am going to have two of my guys meet you at your apartment, just call me when you are 20 minutes out." I was both ecstatic and skeptical. But, true to his word, I called and was all set. Arrived at the apartment complex and the two movers were sitting and waiting on me. We went to the apartment building, they introduced themselves and I could not have asked for a more pleasurable or professional pair to work with. They immediately got to work, were very careful with my belongings, and were personable along the way. They didn't just carry the furniture either, they were wanting to know locations, where I wanted setup, how I wanted setup and proceeded to do basically everything. Their typical rate is $100 per hour. Now, this was on these guys PERSONAL time, and I was advised to work a deal with them. I offered what I thought was fair as they worked a bit more than an hour after a lot of small work was done in addition to the moving. i.e. assembling couches, chairs, tables...these were out of the box items new and was not part of their job. But they did it anyhow. They said "$100" was fine, which was less than I offered, and was all well and good. These are some standup guys. I would highly recommend them and would look forward to utilizing their services when I make my next move. I would refuse to contact anyone else. I mean really, do you stop and think for a second how important it is for a person to simply answer their phone? And this guy did it on his freaking vacation? And spent time following through even though his guys, not his company, was going to get paid? Think about that. Then call them for a quote. You won't be sorry. read more

This is one of the most unreliable movers or for that matter any business! Jerry is the guy that seems to own this and run the shop. He agreed that his crew would come to the apartment to move by 9.00AM. He calls an hour before that and says that his truck is now "non-functional". When I call the guy he thinks I am somebody else and starts talking about being there in an hour. I am positive he got a better business and decided to bail on us. What a scum! Never do business with this company again and stay away as far as you can. read more

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that had issues with their timeliness and reliability. They were an entire day late, and then over 2 hours late for the agreed upon time the next day. Not to mention the broken furniture. I'm now sitting in a home where many things are broken or in the wrong place, scared what's going to be broken when I start unpacking boxes. First: the owner answered the phone every time I called which I appreciated. Next the movers were friendly, fast and efficient. They did a great job wrapping my things and packing the truck. After a 9 hr drive nothing had shifted or really moved. Recommend and would use again. read more

Moved from Florida to Amarillo and wasn't getting any communication from the truck coming with our furniture. When they did finally call it was LAST MINUTE and Reither came out IN THE SNOW and moved our stuff!! They were great and will definitely be using them again!! read more

I just finished moving everything out of my grandmother's apartment with the help of Reithers moving. When it's time to move again I'll be calling on someone else. To start, the movers arrived an hour and a half after our scheduled start time, and neither was the owner of the moving business. Even if he was not intending to help move the items being there to greet me and get things started would have been nice. If he had maybe he would have noticed that one of the movers was still drunk and smelled of alcohol. I myself drink every night, so I probably wouldn't have mentioned it in this review except shortly after we started he managed to let the headboard of the bed he was moving fall on the foot of a lady in the elevator. Other than that, and box of cups and saucers he dropped ( still need to see if anything broke) the rest of the move went pretty well. The owner of the company did show up at the end to collect the $$$ and he did apologize for his guys being late. While everyone was nice and they did work hard I didn't feel it was a very professional company so next time I'll go with someone else. read more

After calling almost every mover in town, I only received call backs from 2 companies. One was more expensive and the other was Reither Moving. Lesson learned. You get what you pay for! Jerry said he would arrive around noon but didn't show up until 2:00. I wasn't in a hurry but I do appreciate people being on time. Jerry showed up with an older man who not only hit on me several times, but kept asking if I had any belongings that I wanted to give to him! Then he fell and broke some of my kitchen items. All they had to do was load a moving truck that I had rented with boxes that I had in a small storage unit (10x12). It shouldn't have taken two hours but it did. I was moving more (and bigger!) loads than they were. Every time I brought a load to the truck, Jerry- who was supposed to be loading the truck- was texting on his cell phone. In fact, he was texting more than he did anything else which was extremely irritating when I'm paying him by the hour! The truck was packed with very little thought as to how to keep things from shifting during transport. I have moved MANY times across the country and have used so many moving companies and I have to say that this is hands down the WORST company I have ever used! Do not hire them! read more

This is a very unreliable, untrustworthy company. We call them nightmare movers. They were 2 hours later than they promised to be. The crew was only 2 men, and Jerry, the owner, sent a small truck and said it would take 2-3 hours. It took over 6 hours and they told us that the truck was too small for everything to fit in spite of the fact that he had come earlier to assess the load size. We crammed our 3 cars full trying to be sure we took everything we needed. Instead of going to the new town with the truck load of belongings, Jerry had them do other jobs, so the workers arrived late. They unloaded until 2:30am! We were moving our 91 year old mother! At 2:15am, Jerry called to see how we were doing (did he really need to ask that 21 hours after we started this process?) and demanded that we give him our credit card number. Since he had not done anything he promised to do, we knew he was not a man of his word, a man not to be trusted, so we declined to give him a credit card number but wrote a check instead. He started yelling so loudly that everyone in the room could hear him and said people who paid by check were very unhappy with his company and stopped payment on their checks so he didn't want a check. So we knew many others thought he was terrible too. He threatened to to sue us for writing s check and not giving him an open credit card! This at 2:15 am after a moving fiasco! He made his workers head toward another job at 3:00 am without rest. Do NOT use this company unless you love terrible situations. read more

Please save yourself some time and effort and go with another moving company!! We hired this company to move us from Clarendon, Tx to Mannford, Ok. They were not equipped, under staffed, and not prepared for the job they agreed to do. We plainly told them we had a 4 bedroom, 2 living spaces, basement, 2 garages, and a backyard full of stuff and they showed up in an older model dodge truck pulling a 20 ft box trailer. I should have saved myself a lot of time and effort and said, no thank you, but after talking and against my better judgment my husband rented a 26 foot U-Haul truck to go along with what they had. We were on a time crunch and didn't have the availability to research and hire another company. After looking at the house the guys said it would take 3-4 hours to load everything. Well, 11 plus hours later they finally finished loading. Mind you they charge by the mile, but loading and unloading is by the hour!! I will say the 2 men were very nice, respectful, careful with our furniture, and very hard working, but the owner is shady!! He talked like he was on his way with his crew, but he never showed up. His two workers showed up at 11:30 am and we were scheduled for 9 am. After 11 plus hours of loading their boss still wanted them to start traveling. My husband tried to talk them into spending the night, at 11 pm, but the boss insisted they start driving. When my husband would talk with the boss on the phone he would say the guys would stop and get a hotel room, but they said they would stop and sleep in the truck. Also, they took an alternate route to get from Clarendon to Oklahoma because, and I quote, "the police don't like Jerry's, the boss', truck." At this point we were just so ready to get this transaction complete. Jerry not only charged for mileage, but he also charged hourly for drive time. My husband just paid to get this nightmare over with, but I guarantee we will not ever use this company again. read more
