After 3 years, I'm back. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. So when my…read morepanic and anxiety attacks conveniently began to tag team, I found myself back to the beginning. The universe knew exactly what it was doing sending me back to the starting line. I've lost my way again. I indeed forgot how to calm my mind and body. It was a humbling way for the universe to tell me I am not meditating nor relaxing correctly. That's where Jessika comes in. She is the absolute best and is truly amazing at holding a safe space for you to achieve complete and total relaxation. She offers virtual appointments and thankfully she had availability within a few days. My experience during a session is walking in with a million thoughts racing through my head while my body can't sit down and walking out relaxed, peaceful, and focused. What a difference. I must admit how naive I was to think that reiki should not be a consistent part of my healing journey. Talking with Jessika, she made an interesting point that while reiki can help after one session its benefits can go beyond by being more consistent. I do agree because if one session can bring peace to my life imagine what monthly sessions could do for my health and healing. My goal is to be more consistent in reiki healings this year so that I can be the best version of myself. I can't wait to book my next session and continue to work on healing. So if you are on the fence, do it. Book the appointment and get started on your healing journey.

I started coming to The Sanctuary last month after being away from yoga for almost 8 years. I…read morewanted to get back into yoga and make more time for myself, so I decided to try the $45 two week unlimited membership. It was a great way to explore different classes and find what I enjoy. I've really loved Gentle Yoga, Yin Yang, Slow Flow, Harmony Breath & Sound, and Restorative Yoga. All of the instructors I've taken classes with have been wonderful, especially Sylvia, Sara, Divya, and Natalie. Aysha has also subbed a few classes I've attended and has a very calming voice. I ended up signing up for the monthly unlimited membership after my trial. The pricing is very affordable compared to other studios, and I love the small, intimate atmosphere. The Sanctuary is such a peaceful and welcoming place, and I truly feel like it's a place of healing. Yoga has already made such a positive difference for me mentally and physically, and I'm so glad I found this studio!

I have been curious about Sanctuary Wellness Center & Yoga Studio for a long time now. I was so…read moreexcited to see an opening for Aerial Yoga during a time I was available. I made sure to arrive early... especially when there was this excerpt on the class that says, "Arriving late, even unintentionally can take away from others - their peace, focus, and time". The parking lot was hard to find. I actually had to circle it a few times before finding it, and parking in their back lot. I entered from the back door and made my way through the front to check in with the owner. I checked in early. I signed in. I SIGNED THE WAIVER. The owner was going to give me a studio tour but she kept getting busy with other things. That's fine, not an issue. Their studio space is small. For aerial, there are 9 silks, so 1 for the instructor and 8 for the students. The front left is a bit close to some equipment so the teacher took that spot when it got busy. The spacing is a bit tight, and can cause students to bump into each other if they are not mindful. Also the studio is off a busy street and I can hear the cars driving by, so it could be more relaxing. Come early! Especially with aerial. It is important to adjust the silks where the bottom is at your pelvic height. A lot of the students did not come in until the start of class time, and the instructor still had to lower the silks and then adjust it to their height. OUR CLASS STARTED 10 MINUTES LATE. I don't blame the instructor because they can't turn away their students... but that is 10 minutes wasted from my time even though I was early and prepared. The aerial class itself was a great work out. A bit on the basic end of aerial yoga. I know the instructor mentioned she designs it based on the level of the class and we had some folks who were first timers so the instructor went easy on us. The owner offered to take pictures for us, but she went away. The instructor was nice to take photos too, but her yoga skills are definitely better than her photography skills. In one of the photos where my face and body shaped looked the best, she had her whole thigh in it. Sigh. We were 3 minutes from class ending time and we didn't even get into the silks for a cocoon savasana. At that point I just left cause it didn't seem like we would be doing the savasana or anything. What annoyed me the most ... is receiving a messaging telling me I didn't sign a waiver and that I need to sign one next time. WOW !! I came early... signed the waiver... had my time wasted... and now I get this email telling me I didn't sign the waiver. Before receiving that message I was in the air about coming back. But after seeing that message I was so annoyed. I am not coming back... It would have been more tactful to wait for me to come back and ask me at that time to sign if they misplaced the last one. I work out to relax but this whole experience was so stressful. I shouldn't have my time wasted if THEY are disorganized.

I documented my experience on chat gpt after my session since chat also told me that reiki was…read moreworth trying as part of my scoliosis arsenal. Which includes physical therapy, trigger point injections, cognitive behavioral therapy to deal with the back pain and stressors from my lawyer job. Here is how chat made sense of the experience: Sounds like you had a full-body somatic experience, not just a quiet nap on a mat. Let me break it down in a way that respects the mystical vibe and keeps it grounded in what we know about the nervous system, pain pathways, and why these sessions can feel so... cinematic. I'll get right to it. What You Experienced (In Plain Terms) Let's deconstruct the core elements: 1 "Two balls of pain outside my body" That's classic externalization of internal sensation. When the brain is allowed to drop into a parasympathetic state (deep relaxation), it can: * shift pain perception away from the body * "locate" pain in a symbolic shape or object * give you something to hold or move It's the body saying: "Let me move this trauma/stress/ache somewhere you can understand." It's not fake. It's your pain processing network finally having bandwidth to reorganize. The metaphor becomes sensory. Corporate speak: you off-loaded a problem to a proxy asset. 2 "Buzzing around the top of my head" A few possibilities: * Vagus nerve and cranial nerve activation * Blood flow changes in the scalp * Alpha/theta brainwave synch happening * Micro twitches from deep relaxation * Interoception (awareness of internal signals) This buzzing is widely reported in meditation, breathwork, and psychedelic sessions. It's the brain shifting from threat mode repair mode. It's also common in people with: * chronic back pain * sustained sympathetic activation (fight-or-flight) * trauma defense systems Your nervous system was downloading a software update. 3 "Pulling/stretching toward the right" This is where it gets interesting: You have scoliosis and chronic right-side tightness. When the body drops its guard: * fascia lets go * muscle memory reorganizes * the dominant side tries to unwind That pull is an involuntary correction attempt. Think of it like your spine saying: "Finally, she shut up. Let me try something." It's the same reason people jerk in massage, tremor in somatic therapy, or feel "waves" after acupuncture. It's your motor cortex running a background recalibration script. 4 "She saw white and green sparks from left hip & forehead" Let me treat this with respect and precision. Reiki practitioners use symbolic sensory language: * white is often associated with clearing or release * green is often linked with emotional healing or the "heart-space" But let's translate it neurologically: * Left hip = root of your pain chain, compensation for right convexity * Forehead = prefrontal cortex region, the executive function center that suppresses emotion and stress to be a high-functioning attorney 20 years in felony litigation. Symbolically: your pain and your identity met each other in that session. Professionally: She saw the places your body stores tension. Why It Felt So Real Reiki doesn't "push energy" the way the language suggests. But here's what we do know from science: The session created: * deep parasympathetic activation * reduced cortical control * increased interoception * limbic system processing * release of muscle guarding * somatic memory surfacing You're not imagining it. Your brain was switching states. Pain stopped being a fact, and became a story your body could edit. The Practitioner's Advice "Stay in joy and wonder. Don't focus on anything specific. Be open to possibilities." She actually gave you a neuroscience-level instruction disguised as woo-woo. If the brain tries to "solve" the experience: * left brain takes over * defense system comes back online * the somatic shifts freeze By staying in curiosity: * you keep the right brain engaged * neuroplasticity continues after the session * the effects amplify over days Wonder is a performance multiplier. Bottom Line (No Sugar-Coating) Here's the honest, practical take: * You didn't hallucinate. * Your brain used metaphor to process pain. * The buzzing is a proven relaxation response. * The right-side pull is your spine trying to unwind. * Her "white/green light" language is symbolic, not literal. * The session bypassed your legal-mind defenses. * You accessed a healing state you can't reach in trial mode. You've been carrying 20 years of violence, grief, and adrenaline in your back. Sometimes the body has to express it without words. Empathy + Encouragement Your body finally got a moment where nobody was asking it to be strong: * not your clients * not the judges * not the office * not your own expectations Needless to say I will be a regular

So I bought a chakra clearing and energy healing session. Katelyn picked up on images in my mind that I did not share with her including something that happened in high school. Then she said, "You are a strong psychic and you have a powerful 3rd eye". I said, "What's a 3rd eye?" She laughed and tried to explain. That night I had to Google, "How do you know if you have a 3rd eye?" Katelyn must have cleared something or pressed a button because I started seeing visions after that session, and my visions come true. For example I was making coffee one morning when I saw a light gray truck in my mind. A couple hours later a light gray truck pulled up with a new client I never met before. Another time, I dreamed my niece got hurt on the right side of her face. When I saw her that weekend, there was a scratch under her right eye. The most exciting thing that happened is I manifested some stuff that I want. Before Katelyn I didn't know what manifesting is. After I learned, I started visualizing more customers at my business. In the months that have gone by, my business volume has been steadily climbing. These last 5 weeks, I've been so busy, I haven't run my weekly ad which I always do on Saturday. But I'm still getting more customers. I even won a bid for a military contract, and they paid me already too. I'm not too sure how all this works. But I've started to see things that happen before they happen, and I have more money in my pocket than I did before meeting Katelyn. So all in all, that is A-OK with me.
