Our program / contract was three months but almost daily since then I see ways that Carla's teaching along with her patience and her genuine love for a sister grappling with seachanges (me) has shifted my perceptions of myself and how I relate with others in such a life affirming way. More specifically, my needs were guidance and support as I entered a season of major life changes. Carla provided this in a way that warmed my teacher's heart - in weekly sessions we identified goals, struggles, behaviors and choices that do not serve me. Carla shared different practices to target different issues, gave praise when I was moving in positive directions (and encouragement when I was not). It was a lot, but my desire to take hold of my life and figure things out (to whatever point I was able) motivated me. And Carla motivated me, because she had such sincere belief that I could do this thing! Carla's lovingkindness to her fellow human being is her standout quality - it is evident in her honest responses to interactive journal entries, or when as a firm but gentle guide she drills down to what needs to be exposed and seen and understood. She wanted me to be able to do these things on my own. There is something very selfless in this approach - she wants me to have all the tools so I can go forward without fear, grounded in a sense of my own value and worth, understanding and nurturing my passions and my real authentic self. I ended the call, and she then called me six times and left a voicemail insulting my manners and lecturing me for hanging up. This happened simply because I attempted to visit a business that Google Maps showed as open. The repeated calls afterward were completely inappropriate. I would not recommend contacting this business. The dialogue from her voicemail: "Hi, this is Mariel, and I sincerely I'm here to help. I hope you weren't the person that was so rude as to hang up on me when I don't do walking readings. You can simply say you're not interested. Um, Hopefully your parents taught you some manners. And I do wish you the best, but again, if you're talking to someone and you suddenly disconnect, it shows that you probably are not the kind of person I can help anyway because I don't work with rude people...."
