When my rescued Boston Terrier passed away at nearly fourteen years old my heart was broken. She was there for our wedding, first apartment together, move to Denver, our first house, our first baby and second. You name it, she was there-- supporting us. No dog loves harder than a rescue-- Sammie was proof of that. But with a two year old and newborn we decided to hold off on getting another. Months of my toddler asking where Sammie had gone, was torture. While I was sure we would adopt a rescue, my original thought of an adult dog was diminishing. Over time we decided the next addition to our family would be a puppy, so we wouldn't have to deal with our children's heartache anytime soon. Heartland Humane Society was outstanding. They were very responsive, they had answers to any question and they did their homework to ensure each animal goes to a good home. After seeing a photo online, inquiring, trading numerous emails followed by submitting an eventually approved application we traveled nearly 100 miles to meet him. It was love at first sight. The moment he rolled on his back for a belly rub, having spotted our toddler, we just knew. We adopted a nearly six month old pup, Arlo Guy. Please adopt, don't shop. This organization is fabulous.

My girlfriends cat suddenly became very ill. After calling around, due to my vet being closed…read morebecause of the Covid bs, I was given the Richland vets number. I called the office, was rudely told if I didn't have full payment, they wouldn't see us with our cat. He was dying, it was between paydays, and we would of had partial payment only. We took him anyway. We only had 100$ of the about 140$ it would of been for blood work, x-rays, and the office visit. They rudely said, please wait, while my gf stood beside me with our half lifeless cat.. It was their tone, their demeanor, the receptionist acted as though we was an inconvenience to them sitting there chatting..They did go get the veternarian, who was alot more pleasant at least. She took our cat, put him on the floor, tried to make him walk, prescribed him Prednisone, no antibiotics, just a steroid, and did nothing else. Sent us away..no phone calls for a check up to see how our cat was doing, just said he should show improvement within a day or 2. Our cat died a week later..they didn't even take his temperature, they didn't do shit, and our cat is dead now. He was only a yr and a half old and had a long life left. I'm not blaming this vet, but they didn't even try to see what was wrong. They didn't even call to see if he was getting better..

My husband and I paid for this sweet kitty to be spayed and get her shots and Dr.Ruth and Beth helped place her in a warm and a wonderful home. This is not a normal situation, and no, they're not a shelter. ...Not to inundate them with animals, but in this circumstance, when this poor kitty needed someone so badly and when we we're willing to pay for its health, Dr Ruth and Beth were willing to facilitate finding a home for it. Doctor Ruth is a very good veterinarian. She helped us at another clinic with a cat we have on a different occasion, our own cat. I highly recommend Dr Ruth and her associate and receptionist, Beth. They are fabulous and kind and caring.
