I purchased an item in a single lot on december 23. The item was listed as appears to be missing two parts, the faceplate and worm. In the picture the face plate was clwarly not missing. The worm is not a part on the machine in any way. After bidding on the lot, winning it and purchasing it. We arrived to pick it up. Well loadung the items i had won in all the lots. The auctioneer heard a clunk from the machine i had purchased. He than opened the lid and found a bynch of parts that were included in the lot as they were part of the machine. Assuming they were the parts he listed as missing, he decided to remove the parts from the machine, including over 18 parts... far from two, rendering the machine useless. He than adnitted bluntly in message to him as i confrinted him of what i had seen from across the lot, as i couldnt address it that day cause he left somewhere inside and i was on a short time limit. My passenger and assistant confirmed to me what i thought i saw, so after addressing it over message. The owner and auctioneer admitted to removing the parts and stated he was selling them personally to a different customer he had that needed the part. After catching him in lying about how the parts got into the machine and why he removed them. He decided to stop replying as he has probably already sold the parts. He sells parts and items from the auction that sellers putting it in his hands do not know about at his otger "store" ice cold equipment canada. He claims to be a realestate agent selling seacans from the yard amd also operates what he claims is a UVC medical clinic from his auction warehouse, under the doctors names of sam, samantha and sammy. It's a bit of a religious thing for me, the search for an awesome auction for one thing or another. Back in Montreal, there were auctions, but they were fundamentally terrible with minimum floor bidding pricing very close to the actual value in a store... but here in Calgary, this place can yield a ton of surprises! I'm talking about Reid's Auction, an odd little bunker and yard across from the old UFA supply yard in the SW. It's really not much to look at, but when you get inside, there's rows and rows of tables full of items of all sorts depending on the theme of the week. You get to walk around and examine the goods the day before or (usually the Monday for Tuesday night auctions, or Friday for Saturday day auctions) and then decide if you want to bid at Auction time. As for how to do it? Walk in with a driver's licence or some sort of id to get a number. Then follow the crowd to make a bid. Wait... don't bid right away, and if there's no bids, the auctioneer will drop the price. Once it hits a level you are willing to start with, make your bid and be prepared to fight other for it. And be prepared to fight, because you never know who wants it too. Just remember to NOT go over what you're comfortable with, because I've seen way too many people bid too much for old stuff. Oh, and there's an additional 15% added on when you pay, the fee to the auction house. Over the years, I've picked up a case of Tetley tea for $3, a large box of Christmas wreaths for $5, some various brand-new furniture for less than $20, LCD computer monitors for less than $10 and all sorts of other stuff for waaaay less than I would have ever paid in a store. And every week, there's usually a theme, sometimes interesting like the lost and found stuff from Greyhound, or a restaurant or bar closure, or the Government of Alberta trying to get rid of old surplus and so on. First time ever on their auction site and I'm already ripped off. Went to their auction via a link from HiBid.com, February 2022. I bid and won 4 items. One of the items was a pistol case. When I went to pick it up the nice lady asked me if I wanted the items in a box. I said sure, thanks. She then went to the stock area and came out with a box of my items, tightly packed. When I got home I found that the plastic gun case had a huge crack and part of a corner missing. Now I am way too trusting, I know, it's a fault. I should have inspected everything but the lady was so nice I couldn't imagine her ripping me off. I did not realize then as I do now, that the local auctions were selling junk and broken items. The picture on the auction website was of the front face of the case and the broken corner was not shown. They purposely did not show that it was broken. I believe that, literally, people that can't sell things on Kjiji or Facebook Marketplace, or donate them to Goodwill or Women In Need, must dump their junk at Reid's. A second item, an airbrush kit, had the filter missing. That's an $18 item! There was an Ultra Nerf Gun that retails for $30 and I got it for $10. So I saved $20 for my kid's birthday, but I lost $15 on the gun case and I need to put in $18 for the airbrush kit. The 4th item was a pop filter for $1 and you can't screw that up? Anyway, I might as well pay full price at the local retailers as Reid's auctions sell junk and it sure seems like they hide broken items from view so you can bid and lose, even if you win the auction. Never again! The whole operation looks like sleazeville. When you go there it is pandemonium, stuff all over the place, exactly like a junkyard that you see in the movies. It would be a great place to shoot a zombie movie. But I will never bid in their auctions! read more

I have been involved in purchasing and selling items through auctions for a good 30 years and I have to say that Reids is one of my all time favourite places to go to for a great bargain. I've read the negative reviews and I have to say that they are one hundred percent detached from reality. In every business outlet you visit, you run the risk of running into someone who might not be well disposed on the day and I had that happen to me; but to paint the whole venue in a negative light because some lone idiot there was less than pleasant, is as fair as having the awesome people who work at Reid's consider all their customers idiots based on having to deal with one bad customer. Great place and in terms of bargains I still haven't found any better in all these years. read more

I was in reids the other day, and bid on some stereo equipment, I won high bidder, went in the next morning to pay for it and was told that they didn't have myself as high bidder, that they tried to contact me and couldn't so they took it upon them selves they claim and apparently sold my equipment to someone else the next morning at 10;30 AM, complete scam, they were obviously not happy that this equipment sold to cheap for them and that wasn't good enough, so they can keep all their equipment I will never go back there, i'll go to Ricks auction way more honest auction house.BEWARE read more
