We went inside to ask about getting a replacement tire and were told to go back outside and wait. There was no explanation, no courtesy, and the interaction felt dismissive unwelcoming and racist. I suggest looking elsewhere if you expect professionalism and respectful service.

The staff started to schedule a time for me about a week out (which is reasonable). In the middle of my visit the owner walked in. He was belligerent towards both me and the staff. Upset with the idea of making an appointment. He also spoke poorly of the shop that referred me there, he also spoke poorly of the other local shops that could potentially do the job. I'm not the expert but I know an alignment adjustment is not a big deal. The staff were polite but the owner is rude and disorganized. My sense is the service is better when he's not there. Either way- I won't go back.

Took them a week to inspect my car after making n appointment and confirming they weren't backed up - and had to call to inquire them twice. I kept walking by the business and they were constantly parking my car in different spots/moving. When they finally called me (after I kept asking them about it) they claimed my car was completely run down and I would need to pay a few thousand in repairs or I needed to take it away. First, they almost lost my car keys. Then, they said my battery was dead which was untrue, as it was not old and ran fine after jumping it - I suspect they just ran it dead. They also tried to say I needed new breaks, needed tons of engine work, my AC was broken, there was massive underwork on the carriage needed, the list went on and on to pass state inspection - 90% wrong. Their response raised red flags as I often keep up with work on the vehicle as Subarus have a long life if looked after and a lot of these issues were never brought up before. Upon getting a second opinion elsewhere, two separate mechanics at other places confirmed that most of what was listed was completely inaccurate and was very confused by what All Tech Automotive was claiming on the report I was given. I would suggest you to be VERY careful going to this place for work or state inspections - I suspect he either massively upcharges, tries to get you to buy into extra work for the car, or the mechanics are just bad at their jobs. I was a young looking college student at the time so I think he thought I didn't know better. I get times are tough with inflation, and most of his clients are probably wealthier off than me with my older car due to the neighborhood he's located in, but I don't appreciate being lied to in such a severe manner when I'm trying to give a place business. Hopefully, this saves someone else tons of time and money, I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone posting this as the other reviews claimed he was such a decent guy.

My wife's car battery died unexpectedly and when I brought it in, Don didn't give me the runaround or try to sell me something I didn't need. It's a family-run shop with people who are straightforward, fair, and genuinely trying to help their customers. I can't recommend this business enough…read more I brought my 2010 Nissan Maxima to Don's Auto Repair in East Passyunk after a really frustrating experience at a dealership. At the dealership, my car passed emissions, but they refused to give me a safety inspection sticker unless I agreed to replace both front hub bearings plus do an alignment for $1,618.71. When I asked for proof the bearings were actually bad (wheel play, stethoscope on the hub, etc.), they couldn't show me anything concrete just "it's the noise, trust us." I walked away instead of approving almost $2,000 of work. When I went to Don's, I did not tell him what the dealership claimed the problem was. I wanted to see what he thought it was. All I told Don was that my Maxima had a loud roaring noise above ~30 mph. He took the car in and within 9 minutes found the real issue: it was ONLY the front LEFT wheel bearing, NOT both. From there, he then gave me the option between a brand-name wheel bearing and an off-brand (the cheaper one only saved about $40, but it was still nice to be asked instead of told) Don explained clearly what was wrong and that the left one was shot and absolutely needed to be replaced, and the right one could wait. Don replaced that single left front bearing in about 3 hours. Don charged me almost $1,100 less than I would have spent following the dealership's recommendation. A nice surprise: Don does not charge a credit card fee, which I honestly can't say for anywhere else I've been ever. My car is now quiet, the noise is gone, and it was fixed right the first time: with one bearing instead of two, no guessing, and no pressure. If you're tired of feeling like you're being sold to instead of helped, go to Don's. He's exactly what you hope a neighborhood mechanic will be: honest, efficient, transparent about options, fair on price, and actually interested in fixing the problem without damaging your wallet. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. Thank you Don!

This had been my go-to garage for a while but not after my experience with their owner today. I was…read moretold that I needed two new tires and was sent an estimate for $185. Great price, I approved it no problem. Brought my car in today and when it was done, I was notified that the total was $415. I called to ask why the difference between the estimate and the total and was told that the estimate was for one tire. I asked why they would send an estimate that isn't for the entire job and the owner basically started to yell at me over the phone saying the car needed two tires and would I like him to put one of the old ones back on, otherwise basically to go F myself. All I wanted was for him to say "sorry for the miscommunication on the estimate" and we'd be good. But I couldn't even get a word in as he's talking about "this is how I've done this for 40 years" and other boomer nonsense. To send an estimate that doesn't have the total for a job is so completely outrageous and deceptive that I will never be going to this place again. Congrats to them on getting the extra $230 and losing a lifetime, previously loyal customer. Edit to respond to owner: Happy to explain in a little simpler terms since you don't seem to get this. I came and was told I needed to replace two tires. I said ok, please send me an estimate for replacing the two tires. You send me an estimate. When I see that estimate, I expect the line marked "Total" to be the actual total that I am going to pay. Quite frankly I don't care about the itemization above it, all I care about is the total. I'm quite certain the tool you use to send invoices has the capability of changing the quantity from "1" to "2" so that the total shown is accurate for the work that will actually be done. That is the deceptive practice that I am commenting on. Your total was not the total. it was less than half the total. Additionally, since you seem inclined to insult my intelligence (I work in finance by the way and basically do math for a living)...$185x2 = $370. Your total was significantly above that. Happy to take the $45 refund whenever you're ready. Congrats on doubling down here for all to see the stubbornness they'll face when paying your business a visit.
