I regret in sharing my experience with Reggio Academy as I had high hopes when enrolling my child, however my experience has been more than disappointing. First and foremost, the facility has struggled to maintain a stable staff. This constant turnover creates an unsettling atmosphere for all children who need consistency in their caregivers. My child, infant at the time of enrollment, enrolled for less than a year, has had over 10 caregivers, 3 of which had either quit or gotten fired within a two month span. In my opinion, this is a direct reflection of management as Ariel, the director, is also unable to maintain a steady schedule.
Anytime, any concern is brought up, it is always met with defense or deflection, never accountability or discussion of collaboration. I was called multiple times to pick up my child due to fever when there was not one. My child also had their bottle feeding, pacifier, sleep sack, nap schedule taken away without my consultation nor had I been notified. Over the course of 10 months, my child was never taken outside even though that was something they promoted. Times when there are discrepancies, "it's part of our policy" is always thrown our way, yet in reality they pick and choose when they want to follow their own policy. These are only a few examples of many that I am sharing.
The most startling information is that a child under their watch had made their way out of the facility passing through multiple doors, down a pathway, across a parking lot, onto the main road without anyone noticing, earlier this year. It was another parent picking up their child that notified management of a missing student. Additionally, Reggio Academy has had more violations of any daycare in the surrounding area in 2023. In hindsight, I should have done better research prior to enrolling my child.
Recently we found out that Ariel, the director, has hired two additional part-timers and another director (now three in total) to help offset her schedule, citing due to medical reasons. I firmly believe if she is not capable of handling the responsibilities of a director and is constantly sick, she should step down. She is putting our children at a health risk.
Now that we are trying to remove our child from the facility as we believe our child's well-being and safety cannot be met there and the relationship between parent and management is not healthy, they want to continue to charge us, though there have been other families who have left without additional fees. We asked to get in contact with the owners but have also been denied the information. Therefore we took matters into our own hands by contacting the Brightwheel app customer service directly and having them remove the automatic payment for us. I expected much more from a facility that claims to prioritize children's care and development. They just want your money.
I believe every child deserves a nurturing and stable environment, and though there are a few individuals who do have my child's best interest at heart, unfortunately, Reggio Academy as a whole does not provide that. Therefore, I cannot recommend this facility and hope that no other family will experience what we have in the future. read more
