4 stars for now after 1 consult appointment but will change later as relevant…read more The consult itself with Dr Kristallis I'd give 5 stars. I was reached out to by the clinic because my dr at ucsd helped put in an outside referral for me to see a jaw surgeon. This has been on the books for years now, but I was given extremely outdated advice to get braces first at the start of the pandemic so I followed that advice and now I wish I hadn't. Did the consult here and had a cone scan of my jaw/neck/skull and quickly was shown what I expected: that my jaw on the side that feels dislocated is in fact dislocated. I was pitched wearing a custom dental device that pulls my jaw forward so my muscles can relax and we can see diagnostically how far off it really is. That makes sense to me, I agree with that as an extra step. The other side of the purpose was that my joint would then be able to heal and no jaw surgery would be needed. This I highly doubt. I have a joint disease that's genetic and progressive and know the drill with eroded joint major problems: they're not going to heal, and if they do *after* surgery it still has a solid chance of healing incorrectly. The Dr didn't seem to recognize the name of the disease I have when mentioned, but otherwise seemed inquisitive and understood what domino effect I was describing, so I wouldn't call this a negative right away. It still makes sense to me to go forward with this step and then see a jaw surgeon for a second opinion. Why I took off a star for now is because I was contacted and seen the week before Christmas and they got me in quickly. I said I'd make the next appointment once I got a call about insurance coverage and also see if I could pull strings on coverage since I've had success with similar before - it's worth a shot. That said, that took 2 days before calling back in the New Year to say I want to schedule the next appointment, all is good, let's move forward. I've called every work day they say they're in in this new year and every time I get a voicemail and no call has been returned. So 5 stars so far for the Dr, 1 star for whoever's job it is to pick up the phone.

The doctors are very nice and seem to be good at what they do, however, nothing here is done with…read moreany sense of urgency whatsoever, and the desk staff have an apathetic attitude towards everything. I called to make an emergency appointment in February for extreme tooth pain. We're talking debilitating pain where I couldn't do anything, on the whole right side of my face. The earliest they could see me supposedly was in march. I make the appointment 3 weeks out and manage my pain for weeks on my own. I go in, and the office is completely empty. Absolutely nobody but staff. I waited 30 minutes before being seen, and then they rushed me through X-rays/3-d scanning, threw a prescription for 7 days of antibiotics at me, and made another appointment 2 weeks out for a root canal. No work was done, and the day of my first appointment, my pain stopped because the nerve had died while I was waiting to be seen. They spelled my name wrong and put my birthdate as 1943 (it's actually 1993) for the prescription, creating tons of problems when I went to pick it up. I go in for the root canal, and first of all the desk clerk forgot to actually schedule the appointment last time I was there, so there is a scramble the day before to get me on the books when I called to confirm my appointment. Then they moved my appointment time by 30 minutes when they actually scheduled me. I showed up at my originally scheduled time, again to a totally empty office, and am told that I am late even though I have the original appointment card with this time on it. The doctor takes me back and rushes through the procedure, opens my tooth and pokes around for a bit, tells me it's dead, and gives me a temporary filling. Doesn't complete the procedure, and books me out for another appointment a month away. Nobody at any point has taken my pain seriously or treated my appointments with any sense of urgency or respect, and the doctor didn't complete the full procedure when I was in their completely empty office for treatment. My tooth is now dead, and it wouldn't be if they had taken me seriously and treated my appointments with the proper urgency and seen me sooner or completed my procedure in one sitting like they should have. I have never had a dentist stop a root canal halfway through and tell me to come back almost a month later. Absolutely do not come here for anything that is an emergency. They won't treat it like one.

I am overcoming my fear of the dentist thanks to Torrey Pines Dental Arts!…read more My wife has been a patient here for years and she finally convinced me to come meet the staff and schedule my first appointment. She got great care from Dr. Saade and Ayah so I booked for the following week. The receptionists were kind and informative. They made me feel good about coming back too. Dr. Terranova and Patricia made my initial appointment welcoming and gentle. They were accommodating of me. This clinic creates a safety and calm that I had not experienced at previous dentists. I came back a week later for Dr. Terranova, Rich, and Delilah to take care of a bunch of work I needed done (fillings, crown replacement, deep cleaning). Then today, I got the other side of fillings done and also Max did my deep cleaning. Dr. Terranovaa is great at talking through everything calmly. She checks in throughout and remembers you're a person in the chair, not just teeth. I really appreciated being talked through parts that might pinch, vibrate, feel pressure, etc. They're clearly a busy clinic but I never felt she was rushing or annoyed. I really think this is a great place to go especially if you have fear or uncertainty about the dentist. I also would recommend Max if you're nervous about deep cleanings. I asked them to put him as my preferred hygienist, along with Ayah since she was great with my wife. Delilah did a fine job but everyone has different preferences and I just felt better with Max's approach. He explained everything, told me when I could close my mouth. provided a diagram marked with where I can't floss for 10 days due to antibiotics, provided verbal encouragement, and was also skillful at the injections needed to prep for my fillings after the cleaning). The dentist is not cheap but I felt I got my money's worth with all the attention and time taken. Parking is easy early in the morning, although it does cost money.

Dear Dr. Yu and Team,…read more As we approach the end of the year, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care you have provided me over the past two years. Thanks to your skill, patience, and professionalism, I not only regained a healthy and beautifully aligned smile, but also experienced a deep sense of emotional healing. Most of my earlier dental issues were the result of improper or careless treatment in the past. Because of this history, I carried a great deal of anxiety when it came to dental work. Under your care, however, I felt truly understood and supported. Your generosity, your willingness to provide additional guidance, and your genuine concern for my well-being have meant more to me than you may realize. I have recommended you to many of my friends, and I will continue to do so wholeheartedly. I am also writing a review on Yelp to share my positive experience with others -- people deserve to know that there is a dentist who treats his patients with such integrity, skill, and compassion. Thank you again for everything you have done for me. Wishing you and your entire office a joyful holiday season and a wonderful year ahead. With sincere appreciation, Jun

Because they use the best possible equipment in dentistry, they have optics on whats going on in my mouth that my traditional dentist apparently doesn't. Through this comprehensive consult, they discovered a pretty big abscess/infection in the back right of my bottom jaw through a CT scan in a tooth that apparently doesn't have any nerve pain currently. (I would never have known! Not even my dentist saw this with traditional x-rays. What the heck!!??) Jennifer and I discussed a treatment plan to address ALL concerns and I just realized, through her help, that the incredibly severe Trigeminal neuralgia (facial nerve) pain that had me in tears a few years ago over the course of 3 months that NO DENTIST or root canal specialist could explain and that disappeared just as fast as it appeared. It was highly likely related to the abscess that they discovered last week because of the specialized equipment and overall focus they have on addressing issues from many angles. My body was crying out for help 3 yrs ago after God knows how many years of that infection being there and no one could explain except for this practice. I want to cry. So grateful to now make it all make sense. Highly recommend their expertise! They truly are "comprehensive."
