What happened to Regency Medical Center. It's really gone downhill after Dr. Aziz left. The office staff is pitiful. What a shame.

My doctor of 30+ years retired and unfortunately this office took over his patients. It has been almost a year of wasted time, energy and money. My original doctor had been monitoring my A1c numbers every 3 months since I'm pre-diabetic and we were trying to get my numbers down in a healthy way rather than resorting to medicine. He would do a simple finger prick test and then I would have my appointment. This office is nothing but a giant money grab!! First of all they tell me I will have to have full blood and urine tests every 3 months and that they "cannot" just do the finger prick test. So that's two separate appointments every 3 months. As others have stated, appointments are never on time. And it's a lot of unnecessary tests. Then, anytime my husband or I were legitimately sick, we could never actually get in to see a doctor or NP!! They were always "full" even when we called first thing in the morning. The office staff was incredibly rude when we called and acted like we were crazy to think we would be able to get in when sick! One time I had a terrible sinus infection and the woman on the phone literally scoffed and said if I hadn't been sick for TWO weeks they wouldn't even see me!! I have a job, I can't afford to be sick for two weeks! Thankfully, I was able to do a teledoc appt through my insurance, otherwise it's $75 to go to urgent care. In an entire year, neither my husband nor I were able to get any appointment when we were sick. We would pay our bills online and the rude office staff would insist we hadn't paid and we would continually get mail saying we owed money. We would have to call and leave messages and hope someone called us back. The last straw for me was having them basically hold my daily medicines hostage. I tried to order refills a week before I ran out and they didn't fill them! I finally called and left a message (no one returned my call) and a week after I ran out of meds I was finally able to pick up a small amount and on each prescription in bold letters it said OVERDUE FOR LAB WORK. Rude!! And I had just been there in March. (This was early July) It's clear this office does not care about you as a patient, only in how much money you can generate for them. I am very thankful I was able to find a practice that truly cares about patients and I will never have to go back to that horrible place again! Oh! And the new office immediately figured out that my thyroid medicine was too high! After an initial visit! How did Regency NOT catch that after having full lab work every 3 months?? Save yourself the headaches we encountered and go somewhere that will respect you, respect your time, and will work with you in a positive way. read more

The staff has been friendly, I've never waited more than 5 or ten minutes. I have had some health issues. Coming up from Florida I was concerned finding a caring medical center. Called for an appointment with a doctor. I saw a physician assistant, not a doctor. They took blood and urine tests and said a doctor would call me the next day with the results. Five days later and still nobody had called me. I called the office and they said I can speak to a physician's assistant again. I'm not even sure doctors work here anymore. Just find out that Dr. Aziz officially retired but no one has informed the patients about it. Our family has been seeing Dr. Aziz for the last 20 years now. My experience with all appointments has always been positive. The nurses were attentive, helpful, and competent. Dr. Aziz has always been courteous and friendly. He is very prompt in returning my calls and in getting results. He takes time to explain my diagnosis and the reason for tests that he wanted to order, and his treatment plan. Dr. Aziz is very thorough and interested in all we have to report. Been going here for 4 years. Without fail, they make you wait 45min-1hr past your set appointment time. They are NEVER on time. It's disrespectful to people who take time off of work to come in. They also don't allow you to call ahead to see if they are behind. They require you to be in at the exact time of your appointment even though they are never on time. I would never recommend this office to anyone. We are leaving and going to a new provider even though Dr. Aziz was a big part of my husband's life altering heart surgery. I have been going to Regency in Barrington for over 5 years now and I must say I am very pleased with my care. The staff always seem to go above and beyond! My Doctors I see are very thorough and take the time to answer and questions I have and make sure I follow up with tests and procedures I am asked to schedule. For a while there was a problem with the wait time, but the last 6 times I have been called and seen promptly! Also any specialists they recommend seem to me to be just as good as the Doctors at Regency Medical Center. read more

I have been a patient of Regency at the Barrington and/or Palatine locations for over 20 years. Customer service at this practice was often poor in the past but lately it seems to have improved and is now responsive. I can usually arrange an appointment over the phone when I need one and I usually get seen within 15-30 minutes of my appointed time. Lately my calls are answered or returned timely and I can get prescriptions refilled when needed. Current staff are cheerful and competent. Dr. Aziz listens and he is very knowledgeable and helpful (though still rather test-happy). I am pleased with my care. I recommend Regency. read more

Regency Medical Center - I'm writing my review to you. I have read all the reviews on your yelp page and I'm slightly in agreement with all the comments left by, only what I can assume are previous patients. Patients are the most important thing to your practice; without patients, your facility wouldn't function properly. That's safe to assume. Many of these reviews are a few years old, 2015, 2016, etc. However, there are some recent ones within a few months that seem to have some nice things to say and a high rating. Now, though these reviews seem to be raving about Dr. Aziz (and maybe another doctor here and there), I cannot disagree with these comments. Dr. Aziz is not the problem with Regency Medical Center. It also appears with every review that there, is most definitely, a problem. So, why the low rating you may ask? Let me explain my experiences at this facility over in Barrington. My first visit to your facility, I approach the front desk where two women sit. One hands me the orange check in device, if you will. This device is so slow it's not even funny. As I waited for at least 30 minutes (mentioned in some of these reviews, it's definitely a minimum of 30 minute wait time - consider letting people know about this beforehand). So they end up calling my name before I finish checking in on this device.. hmm odd? Did the women at the front desk check me in? Then I've seen my the nurse and all that, whatever I don't have much to say about that. Her attitude was definitely 'whatever.' Then the doctor (Doctor name doesn't even matter, Dr. Aziz is the only one that deserves to have a medical certificate), her attitude was worst ever. It also did seem that she knew exactly what she was talking about. At one point she said "what is she doing? I don't even know what's going on here"? That's concerning. At the time, she asked what is she doing because the woman about to take my blood, is dropping things on the ground and then has to go get new everything. The first experience was so awful it's too long to continue to type! Now, fun part, experience #2. Keep in mind, I'm still waiting for my lab work to come in. At this time, no one has called. Some of you reading this may ask yourselves, well why did I go back a second time? Well, I did try to cancel the appointment, but they told be it would be a $150 cancellation fee. I mean, are you freaking kidding? Why so high, so patients have to continue to go if they're unable to cancel in time? Anyways, I go into the Barrington office, approach the front desk, I tell the woman I checked in online and my appointment is 4pm. The woman, much nicer than last time, tells me my appointment that I schedule during my time at the Barrington office, was made for the Palatine location. I then explain to this woman, that makes no sense. I was standing in your office when I made the appointment for the second time at your location. Then, Dr. Aziz (of course) steps in! And thank goodness he did. The appointment going up from there.. however at this point it was just a little too late. Too bad my appointment wasn't scheduled with Dr. Aziz in the first place, or this review could have may, just been the entire opposite of what I just explained. I also will no longer be continue my services through this facility. My ultimate decision to cancel my future appointment is related to all the rude attitudes of all the staff members I have experienced while dealing with Regency Medical Center. Expect for Dr. Aziz. I can only hope that others read this review before making your decision on whether or not to go here or that if you do, that you have a much better experience than most of us appear to have had! Customer service should be the MOST important thing at a doctor's office; of course don't mess up test results or give out incorrect meds, but customer service should be the most important thing; because again, you want your patients to want to come back, right? read more

After 10 years of going here I need to finally write this review. This place has scarred me for life. I started going here when I was 12 after I stopped seeing my childhood pediatrician. Stacey and Aziz were my PA and doctor up until I was 17 and after I switched to Dr. Patel and here's why.. When I was 14 I went in for a mild pelvic stinging pain.. nothing too major, but they said they needed to see me ASAP. Stacey felt my pelvis for like 30 seconds and instantly thought I might have an ovarian cyst and wanted to give me my FIRST pap smear to make sure. It was horrific because I WAS STILL A VIRGIN! I've never even used a tampon yet! Afterwards, Dr. Aziz comes in to check on me; he has the audacity to ask my mom if he could "double check Stacey's work since she was newer and still learning". My mom was obviously appalled because I've just endured enough pain and there's no need for 2 paps in the span of 30 minutes! He also used to always give me shoulder massages?! Thank god my mom was in the room or I don't know what would've happened alone with him. This practice will misdiagnose you and try to send you to specialists for no reason, all they want is your money. I have so many more horrific stories about this place, but it's too much to type. PLEASE PICK A DIFFERENT PRACTICE!!! no matter how close to home it is PLEASE find somewhere better that works with your insurance. I can only hope they'll get shut down soon. This medical group practice looks nice, but the staff isn't very good at all. They are nearly impossible to reach by phone and they have an incredible lack of empathy. The particular physician's assistant my family member sees treats every problem very aggressively and loves to order tests and to prescribe the newest medications, even if the older medicines are just fine... and, even to the detriment of the patient's over all health. After today's visit, we will be looking for new healthcare providers. read more

I would never recommend this practice. I asked for my medical records. One simple note from one office visit since I won't be back. I was told that it cannot be mailed, e-mailed, or faxed. It can only be picked up in person after I sign a medical release to release the medical records to myself. Even though they are my records I have to make an inconvenient trip to the office. The girl also said it can take fourteen days to release the records. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. They also recommended signing up for the portal but office notes are not on the portal. The wait time was also very long and with the treatment I've had from the staff not worth the wait. I would like to share about Dr. Aziz director of Regency Medical Center: Dr Nader Aziz who is the Director of Regency MC is a smart doctor but his bedside manner is ARROGANT (Overly convinced of one's own importance, overbearingly proud, haughty, self-importance. Definition) And he took advantage of me twice. On two occasions, with a nurse present: Dr. Aziz is examining me as I am standing in my bra and jeans having a physical, he then sits in a chair in front of me and tells me to drop my pants. He waits till I unzip my pants and remove them, watching my uncomfortableness, bring a smile to his face.. Both times I told my husband how creepy it felt. Has this happened to anyone else???? Dr. Aziz tries to act macho like he cares, but I've been in the office paying a bill and he doesn't even acknowledge knowing me. ARROGANT: 8/18 I was scheduled for a physical with Dr. Aziz and that day I became sick. I called and was told if I canceled they would charge me $150.00. I've been a patient with Dr. Hodgeman for over 35 who brought her practice to Regency about 3 or 4 years ago. Two weeks later I made an appointment for the physical and waited for 1 hour and 15 mins before they called me back to see him. I had another appointment so I didn't get the physical. I called the office to dispute the charge but I was told the arrogant Dr. Aziz said the charges remain! He proved his arrogance again by using his power to immediately turn the $150 over to a collection agency. IS DOCTOR AZIZ'S TIME MORE IMPORTANT THAN MINE? Can I charge him for the missed appointment? Needless to say I've found a new female Doctor and when I asked for my records to be transferred to my new Dr. (over 35 years)......First I was told it would take an hour and a half, whatever....NO I was handed about a ream of papers, (yet that was only to 2015) to give to my new Dr. I said don't you have your records stored digitally, the receptionist looked me in the eye and said no, that's why you were told it would take an hour and half to print. Been going for 10 years. Like the docs but over test and charge. They said they take my new insurance , 100% covered, turns out they don't and I had to pay for all of my visit many hundreds. They made the mistake but will not take 1 dollar off... bad customers service. I don't go there anymore and would not again due to this problem. We have been going to this facility for a few years. I believe that it is going down hill. Lately, we get an appointment, and wait for s long time to see the doctor. Also, they have stopped giving vacinations, but give you a sheet of paper that you can give to some (unknown) drug store to get that shot. You have to find the supplier!! I was scheduled foor a 10:15 fasting blood draw by 12:15 I was still waiting. Then I waited in the lab for them to call around to determine if medicare paid for it. I will hence forth have all blood work done at a Quest lab off site. If I were'nt required to have a primary physician I wouldn't. read more

Messed up my billing with another patient and it took ME several phone calls to correct after be given the run around, wait time is long (has no respect for peoples times), take patients out of turn even when I was on time, registered online as requested. Then Carol also very knowledgable and performed the thorough physical explaining her findings and communicating in an easy way how to apply changes to my diet to offset borderline results. The wait at the office is atrocious. Even with an appointment you will wait minimum 30 minutes until you are called back but more often than not it's an hour plus wait time. My family has been going to Regency for over 15 years. Doctors Aziz and Patel are wonderful. The medical assistants are kind and caring. If you are in need of a diagnostic and knowledgeable primary physician Dr Aziz is simply the best. He's kind, caring, listens to concerns, explains his approach, and answers any questions you have. He does not refer you to a specialist unless it's necessary, explaining the tests he's ordering and why. He can save you an extra appointment for an X-ray or ultrasound at times. If you are in need of an emergency appointment he will get you in. There's a reason he has a lot of patients, GREAT QUALITY CARE, it's hard to come by. I agree waiting is frustrating but once you, or a family member, need that emergency appointment you'll be grateful. When you have a serious health condition, you'll wait to see the best. However, recently I have not waited more than 20 minutes to see the doctor. read more

I have to say I am surprised by some of the other reviews on here. I have been going to Regency for about 6 months, I had not seen a doctor in years and had some symptoms that were disturbing and had me very worried. I went to see Dr. Patel and I was a wreck, I thought I had something terrible. It was a serious condition but caught early. Dr. Patel and staff immediately put together a full workup for me and gave me all the necessary referrals to get a diagnosis and treatment quickly. In making the necessary lifestyle changes my condition has reversed and I am ok now. Some points I want to highlight: 1) The doctors, nurses and other staff have always shown true empathy and concern. 2) Test results are quick and comprehensive, and explained in detail. 3) I was able to get referrals quickly to good specialists and for needed tests. 4) They always accommodated my schedule and late appointments. 5) The doctors and staff I have seen spent adequate time with me, a lot of time at appts. I am not an easy patient and have severe anxiety and hypochondria about recent events, this office and staff take it in stride and have treated me with the utmost respect and care. I will continue going here. As far as I see it, they saved my life. read more

I went in for a routine physical, but I was a new patient. Apparently new patients get charged for a full consultation on top of a physical. The physical is preventative, but a consultation is not so my insurance didn't cover all of the new patient consultation charge. I could have gotten a biometric screening at work for free instead. They make you sign a form saying that you are aware that there may be hidden charges for any visit. After having the physical I tried to drop off a form for my results to be sent to my employee for a deduction on my health insurance. They left an essential part of the form blank. When I tried to drop it off again, the office was closed early despite online saying it should still be open for several hours still. Beware this practice. read more

I've been with Regency and Dr Aziz since 1999. What I like about this practice is that you can call in the morning sick and get into one of the offices to see someone the same day. They have a day or 2 of late hours and Saturday mornings. They have a lab for blood work and a decent amount of medical equipment to execute procedures, take an X-ray, do an Ultrasound etc. The diagnostic skills of the staff are excellent and the care is very good. I think the PA's there can be a little Referral or test happy but they spend a good deal of time with you and really dig into the issue. Regarding the wait times, I almost always have to wait 20 minutes and between the Medical assistant weighing me, taking vitals and the PA or doctor arriving another 20, then the visit, maybe a blood draw so overall I'm in an out in an hour. It's not great to have to wait but it's like that everywhere so plan on it and get over it. My biggest complaint would be getting the lab results back in a timely fashion. They have an online Portal and it has issues and the the PA's or doctors are slow to review the labs and they don't call you with results or release them to the portal until the doctor reviews them which may take a couple days after they are back. Prescriptions are electronic which is great, however there are times getting a refill or prescription Pre-authorization approved takes a longer than I like and requires a follow-up phone call. Overall I'm happy with the service here and can live with the nuisances as there is bureaucracy in all medical offices. read more

I have been going to this office for 17 years. Over this time, I have referred my siblings, parents, and other extended family members to this office; all of which are current patients here. While the wait time can be longer I am willing to wait the extra time because I know I am going to get the same amount of time and attention as the patients seen before me. I have seen a turnover of some staff members recently and I can honestly say that I believe this is for the best; they are working to make sure we as patients get the best attention and care from the staff as well as the providers. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Aziz for years. I have nothing but great things to say about him. He's a great diagnostician. He determined I had some serious problems when no one else came up with the answers. All this was later confirmed by Good Shepherd Hospital. When I visit his office He takes whatever time is needed to explain what's going on with me. I realize this probably takes time from other patients in the waiting room, but I appreciate his thoroughness. I don't think anyone should go to a doctors's office with the expectation that you'll be out in a half hour. If it takes only that amount of time, then your doctor isn't being thorough enough. I, for one, don't want my doctors time to resemble a production line. When I've been referred to other physicians, the time required seems to be similar. His demeanor is always friendly. So is his staff. There has been some turnover with receptionists, but I think that is normal. His assistants , PA's blood with-drawers and others are a fixture. They've been there for years. I would strongly recommend Dr Aziz and regency to anyone seeking great professional health care. read more

Now I will be looking for a new pcp after my last visit and having to wait over 2 hours.
