I had time to kill during my short stay in Roanoke, Virginia. I looked around the area via Google Maps and found Valley View Grande theaters within walking distance of the Valley View Mall. I had a few hours to kill so I ended up coming to the theaters and watched a movie. Before I walked over, I looked online to see what was playing that day. After deciding on what movie was good, I walked on over and entered. The space inside was pretty large and reminded me of my favorite theater back home. Complete with a snack bar and what you'd expect from a typical movie house, I spent about 45 minutes looking and observing before buying the movie ticket and some snacks at the snack bar before heading into the movie theater for my movie. The theater lobby was nice and clean, clearly what you'd expect from a professional movie house these days. The service at the snack bar was friendly and pleasant. I had forgotten that the prices of snacks are inflated and it's because you were at the movies. Oh well, it is what it is. It's not that much more, so I just chalked it up to being on vacation. The theater itself is a semi large one with stadium seating. While the seats do not recline, there was room to put food and drinks. While I was there, only a handful of people decided to join me for the film. The theater was clean and definitely nice to see a film in stadium style viewing. I sat in the middle of the theater, so I got the full experience of the film without having to angle myself to see everything. I was glad that the movie theater had restrooms, so I didn't have to leave the theater mid film to do things and skip out on large portions of the film. I normally don't watch films while on vacation, but when I do, it's nice to have Regal here in Roanoke. The overall experience here at the Regal Valley View Grande theaters here in Roanoke was typical and yet refreshing. I hardly go to the movie theaters these days, but when I do, it was near the Valley View Mall In Roanoke, Virginia while on vacation. I was glad that the movie prices were $10, which was a nice price for a movie before 4pm. It was a nice movie experience and I'm happy that I got to watch it. Having that downtime during vacation helps with alot of things these days. While this Regal cinema is a good place to go with family and friends to catch the latest movie releases, it's not a place I'd typically would go unless I was bored. Still, glad to find this place during my vacation. The snacks were typical and movie snacks are always fun and delicious. Be prepared to spend a bit more for yourself and your friends and family. The seats were comfortable and I had a lot of room. It almost felt like watching a movie at home with a really large theater system. It was nice having that stereo surround sound that makes being in a theater that much more exciting and enjoyable. And so, if you feel the need to watch a movie while working or vacationing in Roanoke, Virginia, consider coming to the Regal Valley View Grande for a new film release or two. Whether it's to watch the latest film from Hollywood or just past the time with family and friends, you'll find and discover that it could be the hottest ticket in town. This Regal Valley View Grande theater location is centralized in Roanoke, Virginia. It's a short walk across the street near the Valley View Mall. It's physically located at 4370 Valley View Boulevard NW. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, there's limited parking for y'all who drive. For those of you who love public transportation, local Roanoke bus service route 15 direct services the Valley View Mall. Just walk a bit from the Mall. There's always Route 25/26 serving the airport, but you'd have to walk about 2 miles thereafter. Then of course, there's Uber and Lyft that can help you with that as well. For the most part though, spending time and watching the latest movie releases was something that I didn't think was possible in Roanoke, Virginia when I was here. Truth be told, it was a nice experience that made my vacation a better one. The snacks were delicious and the popcorn was fluffy and buttery at the same time. I rarely have popcorn, so having it with my movie with a large soda was definitely a treat. Do yourself a favor if you're in Roanoke, catch a movie here at Regal Valley View Grande. Quite possibly the highlight of your trip here. 5.0 stars for the overall experience, mostly for location and the movie choices. I was seeking a niche movie that wasn't showing elsewhere and I got in here at the last minute. It's a convenient location, but this theater looks old. Not retro. Old. It also had as much popcorn on the floors as any I've ever been to. The movie turned out fine and nothing terrible happened, but the experience of buying a ticket at one of two kiosks (should have done it online) and dealing with the low-quality environs would not inspire me to return under any other circumstance than the one that brought me in this time. read more

This theatre (like most) is old and has seen more lively days but is a big improvement from the others in the valley. Two matinee tickets were $27; one small popcorn and small drink were $22. The experience is not worth $50 for a daytime movie (adult and one child) so we don't do it often. There is minimal staff and the staff available are very young and not necessarily friendly. It was moderately clean, bathrooms were clean enough. The biggest concern was it was FREEZING in the theatre. Even with my coat on, I was cold. I swear it was not warmer than 50 degrees which made for an uncomfortable 2 hours. Previews were almost half an hour long so don't be in a hurry unless you like previews. Otherwise the chairs and theatre itself was fine. Movies aren't what they used to be either. It's a sad situation for film and movies but my kid enjoyed it and I'm sure we will go back once or twice a year. read more

The front end lady that checks bags gave me a nasty attitude and this is the second time it has happened. The quality of theater is very dingy and at least 2 of the theater rooms that I have been in, have broken chairs and a room with loosely structured seats. Why does the Valley View Grande theater not have newer reclining seats, but yet New River Valley contains the more comfortable seats? I preferably will be going to the New River Valley Regal in Christiansburg from now on, considering the level of politeness and customer service that I always receive going there and for the fact that they have more comfortable , reclining seats. The New River Valley theater even has RPX but yet Valley View Grande doesn't? It is a few days away from being 2026 and Roanoke is one of the largest cities in southwest Virginia so there really isn't any excuse. read more

This theater must have been a great theater at the time when it opened. But due to its age and having gone through the Covid-19 period, there are some areas lacking and other areas that still make it a great place to go to the movies to. It is located in a large building with high ceiling across the Target and Best Buy outside Mall at Valley View. Has a spacious parking lot to park your car as well as plenty of parking spaces in the Mall across the street. It also has a bus stop conveniently located across the street from the theater. It has a large majestic front with what once must have been a great box office, but now it's not being used. But at the same time, you can go to it's website and conveniently order your tickets from your cellphone from your car when you arrive and even select the seats where you and your party would like to seat and not worry on finding seats later on. Then all you have to do is enter the theater through the main entrance and pay show your cellphone and have your Digital tickets scanned there, and if you are registered at their website, you also are rewarded points for all tickets purchased as well as for all concession stand items purchased. The lobby was very large, clean, and modern looking. It had a large concession stand at the end with plenty of expensive items, including the traditional popcorn. The staff are very friendly and helpful but they don't allow you to enter the theater with any kind of large bag in order to prevent you to bring food with you and have to purchase theirs. In the lobby there is also a couple of tables with a large sign promoting their membership for frequent attendees. It also has several game machines for kids to play while waiting for the movie to start. The wide hallway leading to the movie rooms is clean and nice looking as well as the restrooms. The movie room itself had comfortable seating but you can tell their age compared to more modern theaters or reasently renovated ones. The sound quality and view of the movie was good, but what was very uncomfortable was the room temperature. It was extremely hot and humid with a lack of air circulation like no theater that I have ever visited. If the management of the theater can change this it would really make the theater more comfortable. Like most movie theaters they showed previews of new movies and then the main one. After the movies, the theater is located near many restaurants where one can go to have a nice meal. Overall, other than the movie room uncomfortable temperature, it has many convenient features for one to enjoy the "going to the movies" experience. read more

I like this theater. It is older, but works for us. The place wasn't crowded during the holidays, for Starwars. The restrooms are clean. The employees are friendly. Lots of changes , you wait in one single line and they search you as soon as you walk in pretty much. They have a sign that says please wait here until called , well staff was so busy chitchatting and never called us up to the counter. We waited and walked up to counter and stood there until one of the 5 people working offered to help us. After ordering and waiting for a pizza they brought out a burnt one. The lady offered to make us another one . Asked her to bring it in to us so I didn't have to leave my child again to grab it. Gentleman that brought the pizza to us was very polite. The pizza was not burnt but the sauce was kinda cold still . Really wish they would remodel this theater to an updated version similar to the one in christiansburg. They also are applying for an alcohol license it looks like by the sign on the door. This particular theater should work on fixing issues first read more

I have been coming to this theatre my entire life and i'm at the point now where i will never be coming back. If i could give this location 0 stars i 100% would. First of all the prices are outrageous which that's to be expected so im not gonna complain too much about that. We were in theatre 10 and it was miserably unbearably hot so we went to go kindly ask an employee to turn the A/C on and he said he would, another 20 minutes go by and i go to say something again, i asked nicely to a different employee and he said he would fix it. then we have to go back a THIRD time!!!! this time we walked out and went into other rooms and they were at an amazing temperature, then we went back to the counter and the guy got the manager and says he's going to check meanwhile the manager walks the other way. and another female employee asks the guy we were talking to what's going on and he told her that it was still hot in there and then she follows us to the door and when we walk in she said something and then was like "bro chill". no one ever did anything to make their guest feel welcomed and not to mention it smells bad and was extremely dirty. the roanoke va regal will never get another dime from me. extremely disappointed and it takes a lot to get me to take the time to write a review like this. read more

Who wants to pay money to sit in a sauna to watch an Anime movie? The lobby is cool but the theatre was hot and humid which makes it difficult to breathe especially if you have asthma like myself. When I said something to an attendant he just shrugged his shoulders. I don't guess he did care because he wasn't hot nor did he just pay $50 and drive an hour for a miserable experience. We went to a 4:30 showing. Of course the box office out front is a thing of the past? So I guess now if you have tickets you need to fuss over, a package to fight about, or tickets to buy you have to go to concessions? Arrived 5 minutes early for the opening day of Paint. Somehow we were still late to the movie. The movie. Not the commercials. The movie. Two lines open and 2 different families parked in those lines. No one willing to open a line or even have one line for concessions only. Why!? Why do I wait over 20 minutes for people who are arguing about what tickets they should get or concession package they are entitled to. Set the whole thing off badly. Many of us in line only waiting for concessions agreed that THIS is why everyone prefers movies at home. Upon leaving the lines at 6:30 in the evening were astounding. I hate the way Regal Valley View has gone to the way you purchase your tickets!! You have to stand in line with the concessions for 20 minutes or longer just to get you tickets. Their were only 3 people open and there were 75 people waiting. I know they want you to buy you tickets on line but then they add a $3.50 fee!!! Also they have closed the doors near the handicapped parking which makes it even more difficult to get in!! A stupid move!!! You have to get there at least 45 minutes to get to your movie on time!!! Everyone in line was mad!! This is ridiculous!!!! AMC is looking better all the time!!!! Change it back Regal Valley View or lose customers!!!! Screens and projectors getting worse, not enough concession staff during busy hours.

While the cinema seating is on par with your average small city theatre experience, the main problem here is the lack of staff. The last three trips here have shown they are laughably understaffed for the number of patrons that want popcorn, etc. If you are interested in getting anything from the snack area, plan on getting there at least an hour ahead of your movie start time or being willing to miss 1/3 of the movie you paid for. Multiple lines form and then simply move at a snails pace. Go to one of the smaller cinemas in town and actually be able to buy popcorn (or simply smuggle in your own since they don't seem interested in selling any). read more

My family went to see Incredibles at the Valley View Grande Movie Theater Friday afternoon. It's a nice theater right across from Target on the Valley View Mall shopping area. It's a good sized theater with many auditoriums and they take Movie Pass, which is always a plus! The concession stand is located in the front lobby providing easy access before you walk to either the left or right depending on your theater number. The bathrooms are well lit and we're clean with hot water. We enjoyed our experience immensely. Here's the important part: after we left my sister realized she'd left my niece's jacket. We tried to call but couldn't get through. Thank goodness weren't staying far from the theater, we came back and walk through the door explained what we were looking for and BEHOLD!! The employees had already found it and set it aside. Why is this incredible? It shows that they 1. Clean the theater thoroughly after each showing and 2. Are honest and responsible with left belongings. I am appreciative and impressed. Will definitely come again!!! read more

Decided to drive out here to see a movie that was only showing here. This place gave me such high hopes from the exterior. But as soon as I walked in I knew it was strongly in need of a renovation. I was hoping like the other regal cinemas I have been to that they offer beer but they don't. (but that is my problem lol) The popcorn was stale and the seats really uncomfortable. The Parking Lot was a mess thru Covid and was never cleaned up properly. There was trash all over the entrance steps & walkway. It never used to be like this. I bought a bucket & was entitled to a refill. When I asked for my refill they gave me a Medium size bag & said they had to because of Covid. That is a bold face lie, I was there two weeks ago and got a refill in my tub. The bags are actually much smaller so they save money by not having to give you another full tub. I have been going to this Theater for many years on a weekly basis and I am a Rewards Club Member. One day prior to Covid I walked in and all the staff was gone & they were under new management. It hasn't been the same since. Time to clean up your act, send your staff to charm school and stop cheating your customers. You only cheat me once and I will never forget, color me gone. read more

Absolutely filthy. Seats are assigned and when we arrived at our seat, leftover drink, popcorn and candy wraps were there in our space. Popcorn was everywhere. There was one guest service person at concessions. Selling tickets and concessions now have to purchased together whether or not you want snacks. With one long single line, everyone had to wait in that line to get in regardless of whether they wanted to purchase snacks or not. This theater is a mess. We live close by but I believe it's time to drive to AMC. read more

Catching a horror flick on the big screen that causes my adrenal glands to spew forth adrenaline into my blood stream is certainly one of my favorite activities. During my time in Roanoke, I had the opportunity to visit Regal Valley View on a number of such occasions and found it to be quite adequate (certainly superior to Carmike 10 on Electric, but arguably inferior to the Grandin in some respects). The good: 1. Plenty of movies to choose from. 2. Close to Valley View Mall. 3. Relatively clean appearance. 4. Minimal technical issues. 5. Movies start on time. The bad: 1. Overpriced popcorn and candy (like other chain theaters in Roanoke). 2. Only plays your run-of-the-mill flicks. 3. I once found a green substance in my popcorn that looked suspiciously like it originated in someones nasal passage. I did not sample the object to determine if the taste supported my conclusion. Regardless of the source, it was disgusting. Overall, it's not a bad theater; I had plenty of enjoyable movie-going experiences at the Regal. But... a word from the wise (or someone that can appear wise on select occasions): I would not recommend sampling green objects present in the popcorn; they could be a magic nose goblin (Extra credit: from which episode of Ren and Stimpy does this reference originate?). read more

In the past, our experiences at VVG have been reasonable - although the prices are ridiculous! However, this evening, not so much. I purchased tickets for my daughter and friend to go see a movie. Gave them the tickets (with a manager present) and told them to enjoy. Apparently, when they went to give their tickets inside, a different manager, told them they couldn't see the movie unless I paid and went with them (they're 16). Two managers. Two different responses. I am particular which movies I allow my daughter to see in the first place - and have never had an issue purchasing her tickets for the few "Rs" she has seen, with management anywhere. Until tonight. Get it together, Valley View management. If you're going to have/create/enforce a policy: 1. It better be clear 2. It better apply to everyone 3. Management should be on the same page 4. It doesn't change depending on who is working where. 5. You TELL patrons if you're changing/enforcing it differently, BEFORE they pay you the exorbitant amount charged for tickets and leave the premises. The actual theater experience is pretty good...Or at least as good/better than other "newer" theaters. But their price-plan is ridiculous: $10/a ticket on a MORNING matinee & the concessions are just silly. I know you pay more at theater concessions, but you usually get a pretty decent amount....You pay higher-than-usual prices for a "Medium" popcorn and it comes in a bag that is usually a "Small" popcorn at other theaters. Free or 25-cent refills, a staple at other theaters, is turned into a $1.00 refill at Regal. To me, you can get a comparable experience at a much more reasonable price in almost any other location. read more

Went to see Avengers. Love the Regal Valley View Grande. We always go during the week. Monday we submitted our gift card and it was denied. We were told nicely that we would have to call the number on the back of the card. Okay. When I got home I called, and we certainly did have $25 on our gift card and the employee should have manually typed it in to see if it would work. I don't know why he did not. I tried to call and talk to a manager, but the only phone number listed is not in service. I think they should have some way of communicating with their customers. read more

The theatre itself was fine although extremely cold. There were almost no guests when we went last Tuesday afternoon. There were about seven employees behind the counter when we walked in. We walked up to them and several walked away and a couple remained who just stared at us. It was awkward. How hard would it be to say something like hello welcome to the theater what can I get you? We got a popcorn and soda which was very expensive. The one girl loaded the popcorn up with so much butter and eventually I told her that was enough with the butter so she finally stopped. The popcorn had obviously been sitting there for several hours because it was chewy and not fresh at all. A little customer service would go along way at this place. It was very clean and modern looking but the people there really take away from the whole experience. Oh and they were also out of napkins. How do you run out of napkins when there's a giant mall and a Walmart right across the street? The employees at this place obviously just don't care. Lame. read more

My family and I went here last week to see the Avengers new movie. Gross, dirty, smelled old. Popcorn spilled everywhere. Floors dirty. This was just the lobby and hallways. In the theater ALL the lights were on. It was quite strange. They were on during the previews and were turned off before thw movie. The temperature was incredibly hot when we first got therd and then during the movie there was some cool air but then it got hot again. I have never been this uncomfortable in a theater ever! This joint slap, although I found a conspicuous stain on the underside of my seat. I proceeded to sit down when I noticed there was a conspicuous smell of rotten fish. I then began to feel my seat and found a lumpy slice of tomato, or so I thought..... I crouched down until prone and began to smell. Only to realise it was a rancid sock stuffed with nacho cheese. I have began to think the cheese has grown a mind of its own halfway through my movie because when I looked under my seat it was no longer there. Finally came out 10 min later and line moved. We were late seeing the movie, it had started already. One person at concession who was older and slow but nice.
