Well, that was the 1st I have heard that I had cataracts, and I told her there was no way in the world she was going to operate on my eyes. She said that she may not allow me to drive. Now, I can decide if I'm safe to drive or not. I asked her if she was legally required to report it to the DMV and she said no, but sometimes she does - well, first, that's illegal. That is against HIPPA. Second, I am NOT going to let anyone bully me into something I am not comfortable with - especially with SOMEONE I'm not comfortable with. For that, alone, I will never go back to them. Also, though, the visit before that, I think I got the wrong script for my glasses because the glasses I had were not good, and she said my eyes got better - I know for a fact that was not true. The secretary insisted that as new patients we had to schedule a MEET AND GREET with the doctor or PA. I scheduled the MEET AND GREET appts. My husband went to the office and met the AP, dropped of the new patient paperwork. The AP listened to the lung sounds and that was it. He then scheduled an apt for a physical. A couple of weeks later we get a bill for $250 for that "visit." About $70 was paid by our insurance so we had to pay the rest of the balance. I called the office shocked that this was a real charge as there was no real visit and all we needed was a physical which is paid 100% by our insurance. The office confirmed that this was a real charge. We paid the charge and felt that it was a scam. I cancelled my appt for the meet and greet and will not visit this doctor again. It is truly a shame that you do not tell patients that a meet and greet means you will pay over $300 for me to come to your office and drop off paperwork and greet the doctor or AP. I could have done that when I came for a full physical. Not only you have to take time off from work but you get a nice fat bill for nothing. Had never heard of such scams but my mother in law is an AP and she confirmed that her office does not do such "meet and greet" sessions since insurance companies don't pay for them and they are absolutely a waste of time.

Dr. Conrod was extremely personable and polite and explained my many options for eye care. The negative: The tech or whomever that I first saw was really rude and possessed the listening skills of a toddler. If I have to explain to you multiple times in a five minute conversation that I mainly wear glasses and rarely wear contacts and I want to wear contacts daily and use my glasses as a back up, you really are not listening to me at all. It's frustrating to be a new patient with a new provider and have the staff treat you like you're stupid and you wouldn't possibly understand your own eye care or eye health. In a similar vein, the woman at the front desk gave me the fifth degree over my insurance plan, corrected what I said and then ended up being wrong. However she, unlike the tech or whatever, apologized and corrected her mistake. Honestly? LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENTS! If it wasn't for the doctor himself, I would have gone elsewhere. The office staff always greets me and is very pleasant. Eyes are very important to me and I have complete confidence in this doctor and the doctors she has referred me and my family over the years. My husband has a serious condition and was referred to an excellent specialist. My elderly mom also has a serious eye condition and was referred to excellent specialists. Sue has been helping me choose frames that are both attractive and comfortable. She accurately measures and fits the glasses. I love this office. I can't understand the negative reviews. Sometimes you get the attitude you give. No one has ever been rude to me. Only time I was referred to another doctor was when my family or I needed care this office could not provide.

They called me the day of at 2:30 to see if I could come early so the doc could leave earlier...I thought that was a little unprofessional but ehh. Perhaps I would too if I had a job that allowed something like that. Upon my arrival (at 4 as I couldn't make it earlier), they saw me immediately and even charged me a lower fee as I've had contacts before despite being a first time patient here. That was nice. Doc also gave me an extra "trial" pair of lenses. Always appreciated cause contacts are expensive and my insurance doesn't cover much. Overall, I plan to come back next year for my annual exam/prescription. I don't wear glasses so I can't speak to that. Staff were all friendly and down to earth.
