I would give the staff of REFLEX an absolute 10, they are a great bunch and know what they are doing, I had great success helping eliminate pain in my knees, and was ready to go back for the next set of treatments.
HERE IS THE SITUATION: I got 8 shots, 4 in each knee and had to go to them weekly for each single shot. I finally realized the shots were painless and asked why I can't get both knees done at the same time. I was told the insurance company will not allow it. The folks working there agreed that it was ridiculous, but they could not convince the insurance company otherwise.
SO, when it came time for the next round of shots I called Aetna and asked them why can't I get both shots at the same time, and they told me I could. I then called Reflex and told them that the insurance company approved my getting both shots together and gave them the person to call, in fact the person I spoke to at Aetna called them to tell them it was OK to get both knees done at the same time.
NOW COMES THE BAD NEWS: When I spoke with the office again the person I spoke to finally admitted that it had nothing to do with the insurance company, it was an office policy to only do one at a time. After a lot of conversation the person finally admitted the reason was that if they gave me both shots together they could only bill for one visit. YOU GOT IT, THEY ARE PLAYING THE GAME TO SUCK US FOR AS MUCH AS THEY CAN GET. I asked to speak to the owner, who is Dr, Russel Riggs, MD, who is an emergency room doctor. I was told I would have to contact him by email, which I did. did you hear form him, neither did I.
SO what do I do now, as there is no way I am going back there as if they would lie about the insurance company requiring one shot at a time, what would they not lie about. Obviously this is a money business with little ethics. When I go to a doctor I want to trust and have faith in them, that is gone for me. I am so upset about the lies I was told that I am going to file a complaint with the medical board, once I find the right way to do it. I will also be alerting the insurance company about their practice of double billing and I will be talking to a malpractice attorney to see if I have a case.
Dr. Riggs is obviously an abuser of the system and he should be investigated.
I have already found another provider through my regular primary care physician. You have to be able to trust your doctors and medical care, and Dr. Riggs in my opinion is not a doctor who follows his Hippocratic Oath. read more
