Most are now sad and hollowed out relics, home to carpet warehouses and luxury flats, so the Regal is a cherishable oddity - and a lovely reminder of a largely lost era. Does it have the biggest screen? The loudest sound system? The biggest buckets of pop corn? Nein. However, does it have architectural merit, charm and - above all - atmosphere. Now, admittedly, this atmosphere is generated in part by the kind of seating arrangement that predates the obesity crisis - and you might struggle for elbow room if you are bigger than, say, Danny Devito, but this kind of cheek-by-jowel feel is the perfect way to see a big summer Event Movie. We took in the last Harry Potter film here and the combination of steeply angled seating, old style uplighting and physical closeness to our fellow viewers helped to create a genuine sense of sharing the experience with other people. As mentioned, this comes at a cost: if you're a tubster, or suffer from deep-vein thrombosis, or if you are one of the people we seem to have bred of late who don't like being in proximity to other people, then you'd probably be better off seeking a dreary, out-of-town multiplex. Otherwise, to see how we kicked it back in the old skool, there probably aren't many better examples left in the country.

That is, if you can get a ticket! From when I used to live near the area, it was always sold out. So, big seats for the basic seats, then even bigger and four sofas which still work out comparatively to regular cinema seats. But the food and drink are rather more upmarket ...... a china mug of coffee, or a glass of wine and some cake or nice ice-cream but all affordable unlike a regular cinema. This is truly an outing and worth it. And then there are the bathrooms - black and white tiles, with individual fresh cotton hand towels and ladies necessaries free of charge on the window sill. And nice hand cream. It is worth it just for the toilets! Staff are lovely and helpful.

Besides your usual popcorn and sweets, they also have a Baskin Robbins where you can get ice cream and sundaes. There are some tables in the lobby area if you are a bit early... although it is next to a number of restaurants if you do want a bite to eat before or after your film. During peak times it can be difficult to get in and out of the leisure park and sometimes difficult to find parking. However, it is convenient and saves us from having to drive further to find a cinema.

Instead of fixing any problems there were with the original building, they've just put in new carpets, taken out the comfortable seats and painted over all of the original fittings. The dance floor is huge, there is ample of seating areas and 2 bars meaning you get served a lot quicker. the decor is very modern and it hosts a lot of top name djs as well as regualr theme nights. If you are lucky enough to use the vip area, it has its own bar, toilets, dancefloor and the most comfy sofa's ever, hard not to fall asleep. Most nightclubs the drinks are really expenisve but here they are reasonable, all the staff and friendly and overall its a good night out. During the day it then turns into a cinema on a large screen, where you can watch a choice of the latest releases, whcih is great with there being no cinema in the town.

Now for the downside food and drink is so expensive so would recommend you take your own and not buy it there. The arcade is half empty and some of the machines weren't even turned on. When I was a kid the arcade in this cinema was full of different machines and used to be so busy. It seams it's more of just a seating area now where ppl wait for there films to start. Its a shame really because there's so much space in there.

It does have about 8 screens, something huntingdon had been seriously lacking with its singular screen! It did used to have quite a good games room, but its been a while since I've been there.
