Not only does Reed's charge a VERY reasonable price on swapping a chip out of a cracked and damaged chip key and putting it in a new non-electronic key ($25), but he also drove to my house in Brunswick after the new key wasn't working, to fix it so it would work!!! And turns out, it was nothing wrong with the key work he did anyways - my steering wheel was in the locked position, and it could have used some WD40 in the key hole which he then also applied. I wrote a recent one star review which I do not see posted. But I am now editing my review in light of the response of the owner of Reed's (Eric) who contacted me, and personally visited our home and fixed the problem. Note the following: 1. Eric spent many hours on a Sunday to fix the problem. We are human and we make mistakes and the prior work done by another from Reeds did have mistakes made. But the truly wonderful and impressive follow-up by Eric, in word and in deed, more than resolves this issue for me. 2. I also have had a tough time in our move into our new home. The home inspector missed too many important issues and the actual moving experience was the worst of the moves I have had in my 76 years of life. So when the locks were rekeyed and we were left with 3 doors that would lock us out of our house I just blew a gasket and wrote a horrible first review. I now realize I could have called Reed's, spoke to Eric, and he would have resolved the issue. I have of recent years not encountered people like Eric who hold themselves or their company accountable. I thought we were stuck with now having to have another locksmith called with additional expense and inconvenience. Eric was and is a man of integrity and ethics. So my apologies and I hope my 5-star review makes up for my short fuse. read more

Former owners were real old school locksmiths that knew their stuff. The new ownership has a woman working there with no clue about making keys. Had to revisit three times to re-tool keys that did not fit the lock. I was told that maybe I should come back when the owner was there sometime in the afternoon. Really? I don't think I'll be coming back at all. read more

This business goes the extra distance. My key ring was stolen including a key to a 20 year old file cabinet. I asked Reeds what it would cost to re-key the cabinet and they were so helpful. Ended up they could look up the cabinet model and make a key from the spec's for a nominal cost. We were both delighted with the result, rather than me buying a new file cabinet and moving everything + disposing of the old or them visiting my home and having to charge as much as a new cabinet would cost.
