We didn't really understand the quality of this remodel until I heard about others' experience. Bill was detailed in the prework, including very specific plans and drawings. He came back with illustrations that let us "see" the completed project before it started. Even though we made a couple of unusual requests, Bill did the research, came back with multiple solutions, and let us pick the one we liked the best. Most of the folks I've spoken with felt they needed to follow the contractor and continually check on the work completed. Not us! I never had to check on the progress or the quality, because both were outstanding. In my line of work, I don't have time to check in and worry over every detail. It's great that we could find a contractor who did the worrying for us. The basement was the big one, but we're already lining up the next project for Dream Mill.

Spend your hard earned money on a better staff that communicates and schedules at a professional level. TLDR: Because of scheduling negligence and poor communication, my project for a deck and patio cover was 3 times delayed and downgraded to just a deck because of administrative issues. Ultimately it was completed almost 3 months after the initial estimate. Our 12x20 deck ended up being $28,000. I put the initial deposit down in mid April for a deck (12x20) and screened in patio cover attaching to my house. It was an expensive project (~$41,000) that we were excited to have done. They estimated completion of the entire project by mid June. After the deposit we heard nothing from them until late May for a quick measurement on our property to verify the drawings. We expected the construction timeline to be very similar to the initial estimate. We heard nothing for weeks. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I reached out at the end of the month for an update. My PM stated they were a few weeks behind-- frustrating that the information wasn't shared, but understandable given the rainy spring. Fast forward a few weeks and yet again I was given the run around. I had many unanswered texts and phone calls. It was the end of July when I finally heard back from them. Turns out the project manager assigned to me dropped the ball. The permits for the initial deck and patio cover were approved, but allowed to expire. On resubmission it was found to be a violation of city ordinance so the patio cover had to be removed from the project. The 3rd round of permitting finally got approved. At this point I was very frustrated with the 1.5 month delay and ready to cancel. They whipped up a new contract quickly and I returned it quickly. Somehow things were still delayed. Finally they began on August 27th. The crew was FANTASTIC. They worked incredibly hard and had it up in 3 work days. I cannot praise them enough, their product was great. They are the only reason this experience was 2 stars instead of 1. At the end of the project I aired my grievances and was told they could not offer any discount despite the issues. I didn't even get an apology until I asked for some sort of reparation. Ultimately there are too many other decking companies that would be easier to work with that I would not recommend working with this one.

I hired Rick in Jan 2025 to complete finish our unfinished basement. The 'team' of 3 men were from…read moreIllinois. I live in O'Fallon mo. These men didn't arrive until 10:30am to begin their day. They took a lunch break and left each day by 3pm! One day, I saw that they were using my extension cord that they'd taken from my garage without asking! Umm bring your own equipment please or at least ask to borrow. Only one of them could speak broken English. They were scared of my dog so I HAD to be home while they were working. It was ridiculous. Their drywall skills were pathetic and tape and muddying looked like my preschool kids did it. When I would show Rick their shoddy work he would had them correct it but it was over and over and over. Their paint work was poor. Parts of the floor tile had to be removed and replaced. We found The ductwork was left unhooked up and ceiling tiles right over unfinished ductwork. I would not recommend and I will never use again. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY as they hire non English speaking men who do do not know how to do interior construction work. Egress window leaked too

We received quotes from a dozen contractors and none of them could stick to our budget. Rick provided some solutions that would help us stay under budget and still have a really nice space. It is now the BEST space in the house. We will be calling on Rick again for our next renovation. We had a one-year-old at the time of renovation and it was in the middle of the Covid 19 Pandemic. Rick and his team were incredible with checking on us and letting us know in advance how our day might be disrupted by the work. They were considerate of sound levels when he was napping and so courteous of our home life, which we were still adjusting to ourselves. This showed us a lot about the character of Premier 1 Properties. They care about the quality of their work, but they also care about their customers and their experiences during renovations.

His plan was much better and less expensive than the other bids/plans I had received. So this year, when I decided to remodel my bathroom, I called Big John's again. They just finished remodeling my bathroom, and they did an excellent job. From the estimate to the finish, everything went very well. John's workers took pride in their work and were always measuring and leveling to make sure everything was perfect. They were very respectful and friendly and they cleaned up after each day.
