It was my first time camping out for 3 nights, 4 days. I live near San Mateo and it took more than 6 hours to get there. The road to the campsite was very confusing, and we left our house at 11:00, but ended up arriving past 5:30. But the campsite was amazing. I stayed 7/1 through 7/4. It was cool in the mornings, but past noon was very hot. At night, it was very cool and it would sprinkle for a few minutes, but it would fade away immediately. I stayed at the yurt on #13. It had a camp pit, a picnic table and parking spot. It's right near the road, so you won't have to worry about the bears attacking. There are plenty of bugs there, but with candles and bug spray, no one in my family got stung. There is a bathroom with toilet paper included. The yurt was very comfortable to sleep in. There was one bed and a bunkbed. My family each slept with a sleeping bag and we were warm enough. There is absolutely no water on the campsite, so you should bring your own water to clean, to cook etc. We used 5 of the plastic water containers found at my local supermarket. The "Trail of 100 Giants" is right across from the campsite, which was amazing. Overall, this camping trip was a success! I will definitely return again. Feel free to message me for any questions!

We were here for labor day weekend in 2018. The campsite is small, and several campsites have lots of space and privacy. We stayed at campsite 2, which is very spacious, is located across from the meadow and has a Yurt. The site has a maximum of 6 people, but they also allow you to pitch a tent in addition to the Yurt, so you can have plenty of space. The Yurt was dusty inside, I was glad that I brought a tub of antibacterial wipes to clean it. However, there was A LOT of dust on the floor, so if you have small crawling kids or asthma, you need to bring a broom/mop to thoroughly clean it. The Yurt was spacious and the mattresses were in good/clean condition. We brought sheets and mattress covers from our house to use. There is a double beds and bunkbed that has a double and a 1 single. Even though it was the first few days in September, the temperature was quite cold at night (low 50s), so make sure that you are prepared with plenty of warm blankets/sleeping bag, hats and sweaters. Temperatures in the daytime were in the low 80s. There is NO RUNNING water in the campground and no electricity. We brought four 2.5 gallon containers of water for use during 3 days/2 nights. We used it sparingly (4 people and 1 dog) and we had barely enough. The campsite has a small souvenir shop, but no general store. So you need to make sure that you are well prepared/stocked up since there is nowhere to buy anything. Also there is NO CELL SIGNAL. The campsite was private and very quiet, since it only has around 13 sites. It was a great location from where to explore nearby trails. The Trail of 100 giants can get very crowded for labor day weekend. So I recommend that since you are staying in this campsite, you go to this trail very early (before 9 AM, or after 6 PM), that way you can enjoy it without the large crowds. We tried going to it around noon, and it was like Disneyland! Hundreds of people and tens of dogs on the trail. So to avoid the crowds I went on it at 8 AM, and then at 6 PM. At those times, only a couple of people were there, and we had the trail to ourselves. Dogs on leash are allowed on the trail and at the campground. The best campsites in my opinion are 2, 4, 6 and 7. I would avoid the ones that are closest to the bathrooms because of the smell. There are also wasps/yellow jackets that come over and pester you while trying to eat, as a solution, you can always eat inside the yurt. There was lots of firewood scattered nearby, but you need to bring a saw or axe to cut it into small pieces to fit i nside the fire ring. They did not have firewood for sale with the camp host or at the souvenir shop. The bathroom by Site 1 gets tons of use because the campsite also has day parking for visitors to the trail ($5), so you may need to walk to the other bathroom near site 7.

We just spent the weekend here and really enjoyed ourselves. We do plan on camping in the area again in the future and although this site won't be our first choice, we will come back if something else isn't available. We tent camped on Site 5, which is located right behind the camp host. The site has easy access to the two vault restrooms which are located next to Site 1 and across from Site 7. Pros: Large enough site for 2 tents and all our. equipment Campsite located right across the street from the Trail of 100 Giants Souvenir gift shop located right at the entrance. Many fallen trees to gather firewood (bring an axe) Nice table and large fire pit Paved enough for bike riding Small and quiet campground Camp hosts very friendly and on top of supplying toilet paper Cons: Smelly (The vault toilets and large trash container omit continuous bad odor) Inside the bathroom sometimes smelled better than outside. Day parking available for hikers so lots of activity at bathroom #1 Camp host didnt have firewood available to purchase so Buy where you burn didn't work out for us. The general store down the mountain with the big sign saying firewood didn't have any either. Luckily we had a small axe to gather for ourselves. No water (We did bring our own 5 gallon bottles with a pump and it worked out fine for us) Sand wasps. Not scared of getting stung, but I can't describe what a nuisance they were. We struggled to eat because we couldn't keep them away. They would literally try to ride the food into our mouths.

Camp Space #10 is 20' from the pit toilet and kinda smelly but looking up and south is pretty good!

Good spot on the south end of Sequoia N.F.. Very nice setting and 100 yards from a trailhead for the 100 Giants. I would say the spot we had #10 is the least desirable in the campground with the picnic table and fire ring within 20 feet of one of the pit toilets, lots of door slamming and kinda smelly. Any other spot and you're good, we'll go back again if other spots are open. Also the closest store for supplies and firewood is about 20 mins up the road in Ponderosa.

This is one of the places I am sad to leave. Bathroom right next to our site, surprisingly no smell at all, I saw the host cleaning up these restrooms at least twice a day, right across the 100 Giants trail, unfortunately half was close. But get to see amazing views, at the dome rock, breath taking. Natural water slide, nice place, sadly off road trails were close due to wildfires; however, this is my favorite place so far.

Excellent campsite! We used sites #3 & #4 so we had some seclusion. It was beautiful, quiet, scenic and everything we wanted it to be. Sadly, the creek and basically all water is dried up. A few FYI's-you will lose cell service entirely before entering the mountains. There are no gas stations within at least 45 minutes from the site. There's a small "grocery" about 30 mins away from the site, so ideally just stock up on everything. There's tons of fallen trees and loose wood for firewood, but you'll need a saw or axe to help make them useable. This site is NOT located in Springville, CA like this page says. Not realizing, we checked the weather for Springville and saw it was very hot, packed for warm weather, and ended up very cold when night came around. I suggest going behind the meadow and checking out the old logging trail and seeing some of the sequoias outside of the "trail of 100 giants".

We stayed here during labor day weekend at site #4 which was beautiful but thank god no one ever checked in to site #6 which is right down there with us a little to close, sites 4 & 6 would be great for a group coming together it's very secluded down there & you have the meadow right behind you, it was a shame there was no water in the creek that runs a few feet from you that would of been beautiful! All during the day the cows were in the meadow, we got pretty close to them it was fun for the kids. My fav sites there in order are #7, #4, #2 #6 all the other ones had no meadow behind them & no seclusion! The only complaint i had was during the day due to the holiday there was alot of tourists wanting to park in the campground to walk across to the trail of 100 giants so the campground had alot of traffic at the front & alot of people just driving thru the circle & going the wrong way which was annoying when we wanted to leave to take a drive, i think that should not be allowed they have a trail parking lot up the road but it would got full. The camp host who was not the regular was so nice we played music at 10pm no one said nothing everyone was chill, overall it is a beautiful campground & i would def come back!

Is this campground still open? The phone number is disconnected. If so does anyone know how much rental rates are?

You have to book it online.

Do the bathrooms have showers, is there any at all? Thanks in advance!

There is no running water at the campground. Therefore no showers.

The creek that flows through the campground is ice-cold, and makes for a beautiful hike (My husband even caught a small trout)! The bathrooms were kept relatively clean for pit toilets, and clean water is provided from a spigot (to rinse dirty dishes, or kids!). There is a super convenient little general store in Camp Nelson, which is the closest town. Just a beautiful place, with Sequoias sprinkled throughout! You will wake up every morning, glad you're there. The camp host (I believe his name is Dan), was super chill and very helpful when we asked about local sights, and hikes. The only con right now is the fire restriction in effect for the whole area, so that means NO campfires (I got a Campfire Permit beforehand, which is required, but was not inspected). It's a very shady campground during the day, and it gets pretty chilly at night, not to mention very dark. Just make sure you have a propane stove/grill/firepit, and some lanterns/headlamps/flashlights you'll be good to go! *Trail of 100 Giants is a must see, though it's a 22 mile winding drive from the campground*

This is situated in a Sequoia grove, with a creek running thru it and a river next to it. There are 4 hiking trails close by. The campground is a mile from Camp Nelson. Two small grocery stores and two restaurant/bars are near. Residents are quite friendly and helpful. No cell service so it takes maps to find anything up here. Most importantly, the temperatures tend to be 20° cooler than in the valleys below.

We had our wedding here last October and this place is seriously amazing - if you're looking to…read morehave an outdoor wedding this is the place you want to go to. Just look at the photos! Even in the fall it was pretty..and we have also been here in the spring when it's greener and the flowers are in bloom, so perfect! There is a river running through the property (duh, that's probably where it gets the name), and there's multiple places on-site to have the ceremony. I want to get married all over again, just to have another big evet here, it was seriously so perfect. One of my favorite parts was the amazing rustic gazebo where you'd have your reception/dance area. They have cool lanterns and white lights strung, lighting and a sound system already hooked up for you. We barely had to do any decorating (just the tables). The tables and chairs for everything also came with the rental of the facility. Speaking of, it was a really good deal, especially because you are able to be there Friday through Sunday. We were able to be there for a few hours on Friday for rehearsal, and a bit of setup, then all day Saturday, and we were also there for hours on Sunday morning cleaning up and we explored the property a bit after that as well. If you cross the river, there are pastured with animals (horses, chickens, etc.). We used an iPod/mp3 player for our of our wedding music, and it was extremely convenient to do that here. Where you would have your ceremony, they have speakers set up so all you have to do is plug it in and have someone controlling it. Same thing with the reception area. Some other random things worth noting: they have a brand new bridal cabin where you can get ready, they have bathrooms, beer & wine only (you have to pay for their bartender, too), they have a HUGE fire pit (smores were a huge hit at our wedding, with everyone!), they have a kitchen & bar area, tons of different places on site to take photos, lots of parking, the owner had tons of things available for us to use as decor (lots of vases, bottles, easels, tables, baskets, etc.). Gary (the owner) was extremely helpful with all of our questions and concerns, he can also marry you - which is a plus if you're looking for someone to do that. They offer food options if you want to go for that, but we went with a caterer out of Porterville (Cherry Tree Catering, so good!). You can also rent all of your linens through them, which was also convenient. Us and ALL of our guests were SO impressed with this place (they still talk about how cool it was) I will definitely suggest this place to ANYONE having a wedding.

Gary and his crew are amazing, helpful, and accommodating throughout the planning process. There's a bar area, a reception area with a covered pavilion/gazebo (heat lamps and curtain enclosures are available in cooler weather) a fire pit for s'mores and a huge barn area with its own seating that's set off from the main entrance, perfect for the ceremony. There were a lot of supplies available to borrow for the set up and big day, so don't be afraid to ask Gary for specific things before you go out and buy them yourself. We loved that he provided all chairs and tables, and even some decorations: lanterns, vases, a card box, etc. We got married October 19th and the weather was perfect! Our guests could not stop talking about what an amazing and beautiful venue we had chosen. No one was in a rush to leave! There are some trails for exploring, a river nearby, and so many nooks with seating for people to spend time relaxing outdoors. We love that the owners host outdoor educational programs as well as community concerts/gatherings. We definitely felt good about supporting this business in our community, our wedding was perfect!
