I love when you walk in you are greeted with the 100 Banned Books to peruse through. I love a business that highlights banned books, as all booksellers should be doing this year. Although I felt like the selection was limited, I wasn't upset with this store. It just took me a little longer to find a book to purchase. I loved all the knickknacks (stickers, bags, etc) they had to shop from. The kind bookseller was helpful when I asked for help. She was completely open to offering suggestions, but I felt capable of finding something else. She was extremely kind and engaging with the few patrons that were in the store. Since I this was my first time here, I was taking it all in. The kid section was really cute and the layout is easy to shop. I enjoyed the staff picks and layouts of the different sections. They are on the smaller side, so I wouldn't expect to show up and find every single top book on the market. But there are PLENTY that I found enjoyable and enough to purchase two books! The only area to improve maybe would be the attention from the Staff to the Customer. More than once, we would like to see more friendly attention from the staff by asking about how to help in finding products at the store, because sometimes you can feel entering like a super market instead of a Christian store. On a Thursday afternoon I was looking for a change of scenery and popped in to work from the cafe. The line was long and the pastry display was pretty depleted, but to me that means the food must be epic. It was busy when I arrived. I placed an order for a Baklava, the featured sandwich, and an iced coffee. The Baklava was amazing. The featured sandwich came with a bag of chips, and the iced coffee was good. Overall it was the perfect spot to pop into and work for a few hours.

The first thing I noticed upon walking into the store was the shop dog, Tommy! He is a gentle giant, a big fluffy golden retriever who was happy to receive some pets from me and my friend's five year old. Inside the store, there is a cute kids area with fun paintings on the walls, stuffed animals, and small chairs for kids to sit while they check out some books. I was more interested in looking at new releases, but this bookstore seemed laid out a bit differently and instead of having all new releases on display in the front, they had some children's books and other picks in the main display near the entrance. I found the cookbook section right away and was really happy with the selection there. They had a bunch of different cookbooks I'd never seen before, which was fun to browse. The store has other gifts and games and fun houseware items, including several locally made things which I thought was great. The owner working was helpful to my friend who was looking for a Beatrix Potter book. They didn't have it in stock but I'm sure they could order it. They have a rewards program which is great if you buy a lot of books! The other nice part about Epilogue Books is their little reading area with beverages and coffee. I don't live nearby but if I did, this would definitely be my go-to bookstore.
