I made a grand entrance by falling on the floor either by slipping on something or a shoe malfunction but the owners & owners daughter were so quick to come over to me as I made a spectacle of myself, & were so kind, they picked me up & dusted me off and promptly gave me ice for my swollen hands. They couldn't do much for my bruised ego however but once we all decided on the 2 course between 2 and a bottle of wine, that helped me laugh of the embarrassment! Great specials by the way with lots to choose from. After living in the US and not getting the "British/Italian" version of lasagna at my disposal or prawn cocktail Marie Rose I knew exactly what I was having. Both were delicious! All six of us had incredible meals. The owners were witty & chatted with us. One graciously tried to take a group photo & failed, we asked the other owner who quickly said no no we are awful with cameras & phones I will get my daughter. We all laughed afterwards. The staff was great, we had a great night there. They put up with a bunch of 50 year olds hooting & hollering telling old childhood stories, although I suspect they enjoyed the banter. Turns out one of our friends shops in one of the owners home towns for work - small world. Definitely check out this place! Great ambiance, great food. Oh & the sticky toffee pudding is to die for!

If you'd like their famous Steak Pie, get in early because when they run out, that's it! No more until the next day. It is excellent. So all eyes were on us so we promptly left. Mind you I cannae complain about the age thing since I am considerably over the drinking age. Mon my youthful looks! Although it was a bit of a put off, I really did want to try the restaurant since it was upgraded a few years ago. Well, for a wee post birthday lunch, I went with a couple of my closest friends and their kiddies. You can never have enough birthday celebrations. I was really impressed with the layout and decor. I was like, I don't feel like I'm in Blantyre anymore. Fortunately there was no wicked witches. The menu was impressive, remembering the fact we're in Blantyre here. We all went for the 3 course deal for £10.95. I had an odd combo of black pudding, apple with sweet chilli sauce in a stack for starters. Very interesting but hey it worked for me. My main was honey and mustard chicken skewers on a bed of rice and lastly an After Eight Sundae. Nomolicious I say! I couldn't finish my sweet though, this burd was stuffed. I would definitely recommend and would be up for going again. Anyone? I did notice they have a lot of televisions which I thought was a bit pointless as all they have on them is advertising for up and coming events and deals. I thought it was a bit of waste but hey maybe it's part of the modern look. Anyhoo, just remember to bring your ID for the lounge if you're having a wee cheeky schwally.

I've been a fan of the co-owned next door sandwich shop Mibbies Aye since it opened and hoped the restaurant would be just as good! Inside has been renovated to a really high standard, sleek flooring, exposed brickwork and a nice well lit bar. A cocktail/whisky bar is opening upstairs soon and there's a lovely windy staircase leading to it. Menu isn't extensive but should have something to suit everyone, and is very adaptable as I heard a customer mention they were very fussy and staff were happy to miss out certain ingredients. For starters we both got the Chilli chicken and herb croquette on dresses leaves and lemon sour creme. It was a generous portion, more like fish cake size and served beautifully. They tasted great, tender chicken in mashed potato - although I didn't get the kick of chilli. For main I went for the Slow cooked beef cheek on mash with balsamic roasted beetroot, honey carrots and red wine jus. Never before have I had such tender, gelatinous beef. Soooo tasty! The beetroot added a lovely sweetness and the sauce was delicious. Id suggest heated plates though as the sauce got cold quick but only a slight niggle. Other half had Chargrilled seabass with smoked chilli potatoes, lemon Mayo and dressed leaves. The fish was beautifully cooked and had a lovely charred flavour on the skin. We both went for the Orange infused chocolate ganache with Raspberry foam and honey drizzle. Literally so so rich but really flavoursome. We both didn't finish - but we wanted to!!! Service was quick and seamless, food came quickly although the place was pretty dead so I would've expected it to be. Waiter forgot id ordered a tea - was only a few minutes but he swiftly removed it from my bill! Only negatives are that its pretty pricy for a joint in Hamilton. The food is beautiful but I think maybe slightly overpriced, more of a city centre type price scale. However I will be back.... Definitely when I'm not pregnant though as I seen some of the cocktails being made and I've earmarked them for a non-oreggers dinner :-)

It was absolutely deserted, as you could expect on a Tuesday evening, but the bartender was in excellent spirits anyway and was chatting away whilst making our cocktails. As my friend Amy and I walked to the bar we noticed that the sign outside said £8 cocktail pitchers. And in we went. Once inside we noticed on the cocktail menu a single cocktail was £4, so we went up and asked for a cocktail each, and he said "You do realise a pitcher would cost the same and would get you probably 2 each?". Well you didn't have to tell us twice! I like the fact he actually whittled his bar out of some cash, because it meant he was being customer orientated which I've never experienced from staff in there. Amazing night had, and I might actually return now!

Modern and stylish, the bar mixes tradition with trendy chic which makes for an unusual atmosphere. We managed to get a table but there aren't many to come by, which makes it impossible to go in large groups if you want a seat. We ended up sitting next to complete morons for a good hour or so, and were unable to move because there were no more seats! That made for an interesting conversation at least. This bar is unique in that it does cocktails and shooters, much like the more modern bars and pubs in Glasgow do. My friend and i opted for the P.S I Love You cocktail, which sounded delicious; amaretto, Tia maria, cream, Kahlua and dark rum. Truth be told we chose this because it had the highest alcohol content, but it did sound nice! Unfortunately what we got was a tall glass full to the brim with a whole tub of Elmlea single cream and a few shots of liqueur. It was so thick and sweet, just like drinking cream from the carton, so after battling half way down the glass (yes i know, I'm a trooper), i left it at that. The cocktails were around 4 quid which was pretty good, although I'll be giving that a wide berth in future as it made me physically sick and i had to leave early on in the night, not a great impression! As the night went on the bar got increasingly busier until the floor was literally jam packed with boozers. It all felt a little sardine like and claustrophobic so we left to go somewhere else. Not a bad place, just unfortunate about the sickly cocktail. I would try it on a quieter night for the full experience.
