The experience we had with our realtor, Jae Chang, from RedPoint Realty was extremely unpleasant and frustrating. One of the conditions he voluntarily offered to us on multiple occasions was that he would help us stay at our property for two months after the sale without paying the rent back to the buyer. However, he did not give us any update on the status of this matter until it was too late. At the last minute, he retracted his statement, and we were left with insufficient time to find a new house to buy before the closing of escrow. We had to rent an apartment on a short notice and such tight schedule caused us a significant and unexpected financial strain and inconvenience. We had initially asked Jae for an extension of escrow, but he denied our request stating that it was not possible due to the escrow schedule.
We informed him of our move-out date to which he agreed and confirmed. But a week later, without discussing with us first, the escrow got extended which forced us to pay unnecessary fees on the property (taxes, HOA, mortgage). We were very puzzled and upset because our initial request to extend the escrow got denied, forcing us to work within a restrictive time frame, yet now we were put in the situation to pay for additional fees that we never should have been responsible for. Towards the end of the escrow, Jae eventually admitted that there was a delay with the buyer's loan processing. He said he would demand the buyer a compensation in the form of a check and mail it to us, but we received no updates nor the check for over a month. When we reached out to him for an update, he said he would give us the buyer's contact information so we can contact them directly because he was not able to resolve the situation anymore.
As a result of many incidents (we only named a few here), we found Jae to be a very unreliable and irresponsible agent with significant lack of communication. We are utterly disappointed and enraged by his non-fiduciary actions as our agent. He does not take responsibility of his words nor admits his mistakes. In addition, he never apologized for the inconvenience he caused to my family during and after the sale of the house.
On another note, RedPoint Realty has an in-house escrow company, Masters Escrow. During the signing of papers, our escrow officer, Sonia, spoke to us as if we were beneath her. When we asked her a few questions about the documents, she became very impatient and irritable, and her tone and speech were extremely belittling and condescending. There was no reason for her to be rude to us when we were simply signing the papers and asking questions for clarification. This escrow officer was as equally unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with as the realtor. We do not recommend this realtor/realty nor the escrow company to anyone. Out of all the real estate related transactions we have had over the years, this was definitely the worst experience. read more
