Nancy Gail the X-ray tech was AMAZING! So warm and compassionate, really made me feel comfortable, and with 40 years of experience, she totally knew what she was doing. Aidna the dental hygienist gave me the best cleaning I've ever had, was so knowledgeable and didn't mind all my questions! Dr Peterson is kind and friendly, to the point and wasn't afraid to take on my unfinished root canal another practice left me with. I will NEVER return here and strongly discourage others from going. If you do end up here, do yourself a favor and get a second opinion. After 10 years of being a loyal patient, they refused to see a mom for appointment because of daughter's bill that had already been sent to collections--which legally, they can't collect on! RUN- RUN VERY FAR... I have been a patient at Total Dental since March 2024. It is now late September, and I needed two teeth extracted. I liked that I didn't have to go to a different office than my dentist. I had 2 teeth extracted by Dr Brian Davis last Wednesday. The entire time he and the assistant worked on my teeth, he was complaining about a staff member at his own practice. One of the teeth was infected, but I was not put on antibiotics. Yes, the use of antibiotics can be personal, but know your patient's medical history. 2 days later I returned to the office and saw a different oral surgeon. She was a gem. She said it is not dry socket, it is an infection. When questioned why Dr. Davis did not put me on antibiotics, she made very polite excuses for Dr. Davis. Too bad Dr. Davis did not have the same grace and professionalism. When I saw my dentist on Monday for other work, he stated I now had dry socket and he treated it. I made an appointment for today, Wednesday, in case I was still in signifigant pain. To be sure, I went. I was put in a room and Dr. Davis comes in asks what's going on and he inspects my mouth. He said it wasn't infected. I asked how could that be when the other dr said it was. He said she doens't know anything. She wasn't there. I reminded him I had seen her on Friday. After the third disparaging comment about his colleague, I got up from the chair and asked why anyone would see him if he was going to say such things about a colleague. He replied he didn't care. He told me it was TMJ. I tried to explain it was not a TMJ issue as I am familiar with it. He continued to be rude condescending and narcissistic, so I walked out in the hall and said to the assistant- never again. Dr. Davis chimes in behind me saying I don't care. It's TMJ. I said it was not and explained my education. I really think I was dealing with a 5 year old bc his reply was oh that's right you're sooooo smart. I went to the counter and asked to speak to the practice manager. She was in a meeting and I spoke to her later in the day. She was shocked after I explained it all that occurred with Dr. Davis that he acted that way. She said she had not spoken to the staff yet, but knew that one of the senior partners did speak to him after I left. I want to say again, my dental experiences at Total Dental of Mattituck have been wonderful until I met Dr. Davis. I will NEVER see him again.

Patrice is my hygienist for the past few visits and she is great. I can't say the same about the desk staff anymore. The only doctor today is Dr Trapani and seems like he has a difficult case with one of his patients and everyone has to wait without having any of the office staff apologizing for the delay and explaining what's going on. It's time to have at least 2 dentist at all time in the office. I don't come just for x-rays and clean up. The most important part of a dentist visit is the evaluation to keep up with a healthy teeth. I am very disappointed that I a have to advocate for myself to want to be seeing by Dr Trapani, otherwise I was just going to be dismissed until my next appointment. That's unacceptable for a loyal patient.

I spoke to Dr. Zeifman at a first Friday in Mattituck (evening street festival in the summer), and she said to call the office. I was so impressed with the office staff and the overall office! It's beautiful! Seriously, I wish this was where I did my orthodonture! And they are very mindful of costs. They give you all your options upfront and no pressure. I was able to get an appointment and get the retainer replaced the same week!
