    Inside of Cave 4.

We visited the Redmond Caves on a Tuesday and we were pleasantly surprised to have it all to ourselves, most of the time! We planned ahead and had our sturdy hiking boots on, along with headlights, and flashlights at hand. It was an exciting, kind of spooky experience, walking in the cool, dark caves. We were accompanied by numerous lizards on the outside of the caves, as well as one lone rabbit, who we probably spooked inside one of the caves. This natural designated area is located in the middle of town, surrounded by stores, and unfortunately there was litter and graffiti throughout... Not only should it be kept up and recognized as significant to the city of Redmond and its residents, it could be a much better experience for visitors than it is currently.

How cool is it to have such an amazing natural geographic feature such as this, literally right off the highway? These low-ceilinged caves seem like they're going to be shallow, but they keep going further and further back, as the ceiling slowly slopes downward toward the floor, which is covered in a fine white powder that gets on everything and STAYS. I don't recommend crawling here, unless you are prepared for a nasty laundry bill! Even so, I kind of wish I could have explored further. According to one guy we were talking to at the entrance, the caves to have an exit point somewhere deep within, likely within the city of Redmond itself. My wife and I joked that it probably emerges in the bathroom of a 7-Eleven or something. With a proper air-filtering mask, a powerful flashlight, and some sort of jumpsuit to keep the dust off, this would be one hell of a spelunking adventure! There's a little bit of graffiti on one overhang, and some idiots apparently built a campfire at some point, in a cave, which is tantamount to suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. But we really enjoyed our lightweight, 20-minute foray into the bowels of the Earth, which helped break up the monotony of a long road trip home. Pretty cool, if you ask me!

So magical to visit this site. There are several caves to explore. Imagine traveling with your clan in search of a good place to farm, hunt and live. Please respect these earthlodges.

We were passing by and decided to stop in to see the cave. Several caves located in the same area. The one closest to the dirt road parking does not go anywhere. It was cool inside and great to see. No restroom at location. Next to airport. Would love to come back again to check out the addtional caves. Please dress for the cool weather inside. Must bring light source. Cell phones do not work well. We had headlamps and flashlight but ceiling has low clearnace rocks and are close to head. Come with several light devices to avoid injury. It is very dusty inside. Did not see any handicap access, bathrooms, garbage can or even a table to sit. Also wear sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots.

Lava caves are fun to explore and the Redmond caves, although relatively small, are no exception. If you're picking up someone at the airport, instead of waiting in the 'cell phone area', stop by here and check out the caves. Another reviewer noted the graffiti and while there certainly was some when I visited, it seems there are ongoing efforts to remove it. So you might not see anything too offensive. It's a shame there's any at all.

Not a bad little stop when in the area that does not take much time. Sad that some individuals felt compelled to graffiti some of the caves. Parking is limited and there are five caves and unless you feel like crawling on all fours, this will not take too long. Towards the west side there is an area that has lots of debris from years ago that is rusted up that is still there. For free, it is not a bad deal and makes for a nice little exploring walk.

Worst experience ever! Caves are full of graffiti. My 6 and 8 years olds asked me what some very vulgar things meant.

This spot is on the boarder of the Deschutes and Jefferson counties. This stop is located just 9 miles North of Redmond or 26 miles from Bend on the US Route 97 where this a rest area and viewpoint with tons of parking. Facilities include restrooms, picnic tables and dramatic viewing of the Crooked River Canyon from the pathways or the bridge. For photographers this is an amazing place to get a shot of the Crooked River Canyon and surrounding areas. You can also walk across the historic Crooked River High Bridge just north of the park. Three historic bridges connect both sides of the canyon, unfortunately only one can be crossed today by pedestrians. Two of Oregon's tallest mountains- Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson are visible from the viewpoint on a clear day. Fun facts: the park was named in honor of Peter Skene Ogden who led the trapping parties of the Bay Company back in 1925. Worth a stop to take in the views and enjoy part of history!

Anyways onto the real reason we stopped, we went here at the end of August. Made our way here after Smith Rock which was only about 10-15 minute drive, it was a beautiful sunny day, the view was breathtaking both ways. They had bungee jumping on the bridge when we went so that kinda blocked a bit of the view but was really cool to watch.
