This store seems like it would have everything you need to visit the beach. We visited Redix because we needed boogey boards, and they indeed had them here. They had some expensive ones inside, but then they also had some less expensive ones outside, so we grabbed those. Prices range here, depending on what you're buying. They sell high-quality brands, but also not-so-high quality. The store is rather large, so you kind of have to walk around and check out everything. Besides boogey boards, Redix also sells things for fishing, sunglasses, hats and clothing, beach chairs, coolers, souvenirs and other things to make your beach trip pleasant. read more

I think Redix is a wonderful store. This is an upscale beach store that has the typical surf shop items like Flip flops and clothes with some pretty cool gifts. Absolutely love this store, its.fun to just go in and walk around it has so much stuff. A nice selection of clothing which surprised me. It an institution that everyone need to come visit when in wrightsville. Service is good, people don't hover over you and prices are good also, so you can get good buys on items here when on sale. read more

Used to have the greatest appreciation and fondest memories of being a good customer here buying up the lot- however- tonight purchased a couple items and Lindsey or Lindsay was most rude, abrupt, and acted like we had no idea what we were doing. Just goes to show how one bad egg can make a big impact on an experience! Went in to get dad a pair of shoes- didn't have his size- no problem. Found a couple things for myself instead. On 9/20/22 I selected a soft-sided cooler with a manufacturer's pre-printed $32.50 price tag. It was not the type with a UPC code to be scanned; the price had to be entered manually. The guy behind the counter, white and in his mid-to-late 60s, charged me $37.50 plus tax. I pointed to the tag and said he overcharged me. He didn't say a word, he just re-rang it. Nothing stands out particularly. Good selection of general "stuff". Higher than average prices. Each time I have entered this place, the staff just seems to be hanging out. I am never really sure who is the staff and who is the girlfriend who just wandered in to hang out. Honest, this is not a bad place at all, but it's just sort of there. Nothing to go "wow" about, except for a decent selection of tourist t-shirts and sweat shirts. They probably suffer from seasonality and high lease costs for being in Wrightsville Beach. So, I kind of sympathize on their prices. But the sort of general atmosphere of complacency makes me push the three-star to two. read more

Won't be shopping there or recommending anyone else give them their business. My mom just moved down and was looking forward to shopping there. I love this store probably because I feel such nostalgia towards it. When my daughters were young, we'd stop in every time we were in WB (which was often). One half of their store is touristy, beachy, sporty, and the other is high-end clothing. My daughters would spend a long time looking at everything on the fun side, and playing with the toys. They'd leave with a treasure or two, and always with a bag of the gems that are right at the front of the store. The other side has good brands, and they are expensive, but when you can catch a sale (often) you can get some great clothes for decent prices. With all the crappy beach stores around our coasts, it's so nice to have a quality store like Redix. read more

The Good: -consistent - preppy / frat-tasic clothes -Uggs, Rainbows, Sperry's - beach chairs and umbrellas (if your willing to pay any price $$$$) The Bad: - overpriced (dont be fooled sales aren't sales) - women clothes a little aged ( not exactly trendy or fashion forward) -employee's and return policy can be bitchy - everything feels totally cramped in ( if you're looking for it, its properly there you just have to look) Redix - what to say about Redix - well the best way to describe it might be to say it is a comedy of errors, where sometimes you're laughing and other times the laugh is on you! If you've ever driven by it you would never know from looking from the outside that there was anything of value inside / or better yet anything high dollar there - but you'd be completely wrong! All you need to do is to just peak at the beach chairs lined up outside by the front door and you can see, this isn't a place for bargains ( unless you hit a great great sale aka 75%) The beach chairs ( the same ones you can pick up at Sams or Wal-Mart or Target for about 20-40 dollars) are listed at Redix for between 60-90, WTF right? I guess they are banking on stupid tourist who forget their chairs at home, and are too lazy to go anywhere else and willing to pay top dollars. So what inside the store on one half you have the usually touristy type novelty stuff. Some of it can be very cheesy/ trashy / Myrtle Beach-ish, but it still never stops be from wandering around there. They also have a decent collection of T-Shirt here. Some the usually lame but other not bad! So if you need a t-shirt for a friends from WB (Wrightsville Beach) it not a bad place. But just as a little insider personal preference tip, if your looking for a T-shirt from WB, that not so average/ touristy, but still says WB I like recommend getting T-shirts from either Lighthouse Beer and Wine, Dockside Restaurant, Trolley Stop, or Robert Groceries, to me there are better designed shirts (but that's just me) So back to Redix, inside on the gift side, though some is trash, there are interesting things within the mess, so if your just looking to kill time, look around. Now on to the clothing! They do carry some good lines, but they run heavily on preppy / frat-tastic side, and they are top price - high dollar. Even when they have their sales, the deals aren't all that 'deal worthy". I think the men's side, does a better job of lines (aka it carries Lactose, Vineyard Vines, Sperry, and a always popular Madras shorts, pants, and jackets) The women's side also has good lines, just not my style. Think Country Club wife in her early 40's -60's range and that what I think when I see most of the clothes! And if for some reason, you come to the beach and need a bathing suit, Redix does have one of the largest selections of bathing suits. Again though if your younger and into more trendy stuff I suggest hitting Sweat Water Surf shop first, and then either Belk's or J crew at Mayfair! Lastly, if its summer and you forgot your sandals (aka Rainbows) or its winter and you forgot your Uggs, Redix carries both! And since neither of these brands ever really go on sale anywhere, Id hit Redix because they do have a good selection of both. Also if you need Sperrys / dock shoes - they carry them as well! WORD OF WARNING THOUGH - there return policy sucks! So be sure you double check on their policy when you buy anything, and MAKE SURE you keep up with the receipt. They are receipt-nazi's - no receipt no exchange for you! Summary --- Redix is a Wrightsville Beach staple! There is definitely more there than meets the eye! I have been there more time then I can count. And while its not my first choice for things, and I think overall it is overpriced, I know what I will get when I am there, and it doesn't change it what it vary from year to year in quality, quantity, layout, or anything! Walk in today and walk in 5 years from now and it will be the same! Redix isn't a store you walk into and usually find something, totally different, total cool, at a great price that you didn't expect. Redix is a store that is constant. IF you like what you see the first time, don't mind full price, then you usually want be disappointed next time. I love this store in Wrightsville Beach. It's filled with great brands and it always feels like I'm on a treasure hunt. You never know what you are going to find in the aisles and on the racks. Lots of stuff for the weekly tourists who forgot their sunscreen, beach chairs, beach toys, puzzles, etc. And there's also a very extensive assortment of apparel for the boating Mr & Mrs. Check it out- they rarely have a sale, but the clothes & accessories are very high quality with brands like Vineyard Vines, Sperry, Southern Tide and Yeti. A trip to Wrightsville isn't complete without a visit to Redix. This store is really two-fold...it has the tshirts, hats and knickknacks you would find at a Wings but also has trendy, higher-end clothing and accessories from Vineyard Vines, Lilly Pulitzer, Sperry, High Cotton, etc. If you hit it at the right time of year (March/April) you are bound to walk away with some deeply-discounted name brand clothing. What's with all the bagging on Redix here? From the moment you pull into the parking lot, you know what you're getting into. While this looks like a fairly nondescript store from the road, you immediately see the piles of crappy, loudly colored beach chairs, foam floating noodles, and beach-related garbage on the outside when you get a little closer. Redix is a stopping point for those "Oh, s**t" moments when you realize that you forgot your cooler or didn't bring your 1 billion SPF sunblock or you figure that, after all that beach drinking you'll be doing, that maybe it would be a good idea to try skimboarding (hint: it's really NOT a good idea). For me, this place has never been a regular stop but I'll rate it highly because it's super convenient en route to the beach and it has everything I could need for a beach trip. Rather than having to turn around and drive back into Wilmington, it's generally worth the extra couple of bucks to just buy sunscreen at Redix and be on my way. Hell, I'd pay an extra $5 to get to the beach and crack open a cold one (soda of course, since you aren't allowed to drink on Wrightsville) 15 minutes sooner, so the extra couple of bucks isn't a big deal. Lastly, even if, in certain cases, Redix is more expensive than Wings, I'm almost always going to go to Redix instead. Anyone who has ever driven through Myrtle Beach has seen enough Wings stores for 4 lifetimes. I know, it's an irrational bias, but it's just how I feel. At least Redix is fairly low key in their advertising/appearance and doesn't look like someone got hopped up on drugs, listened to 24 hours of Jimmy Buffett, made 3 gallons of margaritas, and then painted and decorated their store. read more

In a way, the previous posts on Redix I'd like to say, yeah, it's just like that. Don't stop in. Never shop here. But it would be a lie, you know why? Because ladies if you want a really, really good bathing suit - not something demure from LL Bean or one that allows all your "goods" fall out like those found at Wings - but a suit that will last a good 5 years both in make and fashion, then Redix is your place. It's not fancy. It's not well lit. It's full of lots of stuff. But the bathing suits are incredible. Whoever their buyer is, knows what he/she is doing. read more

Whats with all the HATE on this place?? I LOVE this place. It is my favorite "Beach Shop" in Wrightsville Beach. This store does have all the beach crap/junk that one would need for the kids everything is clean, fresh and organized well. This place isn't your typical Wings or Eagles; they actually clean and show customers attention. They sell clothing, (Tommy Bahama and Sperry to name a few brands) shoes, belts, hats, key chains, flasks and everything in between. I will say the return policy on some of the things here is a bit out of whack for today's consumer but what do you expect? This is an older, yuppie beach shop in a local community that isn't trying to be Wal-Mart! For that experience, you must pay for it. Get your Salt Life merchandise here! read more

This place isn't really anything more than a glorified junk shop. The aisles were overflowing with merchandise and the whole place had a kind of grey glow to it. I wandered around for about an hour and still couldn't talk myself into buying anything, despite the low prices. read more

I have been going to Redix every year since it opened in 1969. There are not many places on earth where you can go to get honest fishing advice and gear, a new sport coat to wear to a wedding, a new bathing suit for the wife, new tumblers for the bar and some real fun stuff for the kids. All this with good familiar family owned service. For example: I purchased a pair of Sperry's there in May - decided in August after putting many miles on them that they were never going to "break-in". I sent them back to Redix without a receipt and received a new pair in the mail yesterday. Try this at Wings, they would laugh in your face. read more

I was completely grossed out by the state of the bathroom, which is unacceptable for a store that marks up there merchandise that much. Redix carries everything from fish bait to Vineyard Vines and Tommy Bahama. Wonderful selection of shoes, gift items, t-shirts, beach chairs & towels, bathing suits - you name it. Hate to do it, but the attitude of the "older" employees, the ridiculously high prices, the clutter of the store, and their return policy (3 times now!) have done me in. I used to be a big fan of the store, but over the past couple of summers, I'm becoming of the same mind as the locals there - it's a junky tourist trap. The prices are just laughable - go across the bridge (or into Wilmy or to Mayfair) and you can find almost all the same stuff more reasonably priced. Maybe not the Tommy Bahama and other higher end lines of clothes they carry, but even those prices are over the top. The shoe prices seem to be in-line with other stores in Raleigh, but the clothing prices are laughable. Thus, the full-to-the-brim racks of women's clothes. It feels like they move very little merchandise in that dept. Looks like the same stuff all summer long. The sales ladies stand around and "chat" about where they are going for lunch, who they saw last night, etc... the clothes are so packed tight it's just a chore to shop there. Some help would be nice to have from them. And most of the clothes cater to a very small niche - middle age country club women. The rest of the store is packed full of tourist stuff you can find in many other, uncluttered, more reasonably priced, places in the area. The younger employees are very kind, helpful, cheery and appreciative of your business, but the older ones, not-so-much. Def not friendly at all - they act like you are "bothering" them to check out. Really? and don't even get me started on the return policy! Really? Just know when you buy it, it's yours regardless of if it breaks, fades, has a hole in it etc.... Even WITH a receipt, they try not to refund you any money if at all possible. They don't care a thing about having a happy customer who will return to shop again. It's all about the almighty dollar. They got yours and they are keeping it. I have lots of friends who live down there (why I get to go so often) and NONE of them ever shop there or recommend visitors to shop there. I know it's the beach and things are pricier, but Redix's is over the top. And for goodness sake don't buy a beach chair there! What a rip off! You can find those chairs at Walmart, Target, Wings, etc... for more than $20 less. and remember, more expensive doesn't mean better quality. The one I paid too much for there ripped the FIRST time on the beach. and it was the strap that kept it closed. Redix wouldn't do a thing about it b/c i didn't save the receipt. My bad. But the young lady who checked me out was there and remembered me BUYING THE CHAIR the weekend before. Still, they would not make good on it. 3 weeks later on my next trip one of the backpack straps ripped out. Nice. One of the reasons I purchased the chair was the backpack feature. Again, more expensive does not mean better quality. There is no other place I can think of in WB that is as overpriced as this store. And you can find better shirts (or the exact same ones) at lots of other places at the beach. Ask a few locals, they'll tell you. Listen to them. I'm not sure why others are so negative. I had a very good experience. While on vacation, I bought two polo shirts on sale here. They were from a brand I didn't know but seemed to have nice fabric. Within one (delicate cycle) wash, one had developed a hole and another a snag so I contacted the manufacturer to complain. In my view this was the manufacturer's quality issue and furthermore I wasn't near Redix anymore and had worn the shirts. The manufacturer somewhat rudely told me I had to deal with Redix. I reach out by email skeptical they'd be able to do anything but they graciously allow me to return the shirts. Since I was grateful I decided to do it as an exchange for a different brand rather than demand a refund since, again, I don't feel like they were at all at fault. Hopefully they're able to return the shirts to the manufacturer but I felt like the level of service was above what I'd expect at many stores so they've made a loyal customer for next summer when I'm back in town. (BTW, the new shirt I exchanged for is a "Southern Tide" brand which I absolutely love so check those out if you go in.) read more

This is my first time ever writing a review however yesterdays experience has forced me to express my dissatisfaction with this store that I could have only had paid compliments to in the past. The story; my wife bought me a T-shirt on Saturday and asked the employee if she could exchange it if it were the wrong size. The answer was yes. It was the wrong size so we stopped at the store on our way back to Raleigh on Sunday to exchange it for a different size. We got a larger size and the employee proceeded to process the exchange for the EXACT same T-shirt. He announced that we owed him $4 additional dollars. When asked why there was an additional cost? He said that the T-shirt's actual price was $39 however they made a mistake yesterday and only charged us $35. My wife had also purchased additional items so she was not aware of the exact price of the T-shirt. We questioned the employee about now wanting to charge the additional $4 and he said that he had to charge us the additional money because if the "boss" were there then he would do the same. Another employee stated to us that he could not believe that we were making an issue of the additional $4 dollar charge. It wasn't us making a deal of the $4, it was the employees. I did not appreciate these young pompous employees arguing with us (50 year old adults) about how we owed them $4 for a mistake they made the day before. I got frustrated with the lack of customer concern regarding this situation and said just give us a refund on the original purchase. At this point, another customer looking at merchandise stated that she could not believe that this situation was taking place. She stated that she does not feel that she could purchase anything from this store because of the way these employees were talking to us. We got our refund. The lady and her husband were walking out of the store at the same time. She told us that she asked her husband to return the chair that he wanted to purchase because she did not want to make a purchase from such a rude and non customer friendly store. Note to store; $4 was not the issue, it was your cavalier attitude. read more

Large, fun store with some great stuff. Unfortunately, we bought a beach umbrella here that was a total piece of junk. Our own fault and inexperience, but the clamp to hold the two halves of the pole didn't even come close to touching, let alone securing anything. I would say to go for the known goods, like the brand clothing, and take the time to do your research and buy something good instead of grabbing something on the way to the beach. read more

I LOVE Redix! Stuff there for every budget. You can buy a cheap beach momento or a box of cheap salt water taffy but they also have absolutely wonderful quality clothes. Like brand name tees that last for YEARS and designer name women'/ clothing as well as beautiful men'/ shirts and shorts, casual clothing. As far as the high quality clothing, it is pricey but I have found things there that I wore for two decades, special things that people would ask me where I found it, like a Geiger wool ladies jacket with beautiful dog designs on it and hand stitching. We go to Wrightsville Beach two to four times a year, but even if I am there only for a weekend, my trip is not complete without going to Redix! And at the end of each season, you can sometimes find the designer clothing on sale. Also am amazing selection of women'S swimsuits. Bought one there when I was a size 8, and I can still find a beautiful suit there years later when I am a 1X. LOVE this store! read more

I reviewed Redix last summer and wanted to do a follow-up. The owner responded to me about not being able to return my beach chair (it broke rigth after I purchased it, but they wouldn't replace it b/c I didn't keep the receipt - see earlier review). He very graciously offered to replace it the next time I was in town. I went back to the beach many times after that, but didn't take the chair b/c the weather wasn't warm enough to enjoy the beach. However, I touched base with him a month ago and told him I was coming back down and would like to bring the chair in. He welcomed me. I took the chair in and a very nice young man helped me find the replacement chair quickly and thanked me for coming in. I've been back to the store several times and felt like the customer service was MUCH better each time. Going back down again this weekend and will def stop in again to do a little shopping. I am thankful that the owner cared enough to make "one" customer happy. He could have easily just written me off. As I told him, he's renewed my faith in Redix! So, Yay! I'm a fan again! read more
