The boat tour was fine, very basic but takes you around the canal to many places you'd like to see. This experience by itself was decent. Our boat's driver, however, will help us to remember not to choose this business next time.
The three of us got on the boat and went to sit down near the front. My wife and I took the 2nd row while my sister in law wanted to sit in the first row. She moved a rolling chair out of the way to sit down. Moments later, the driver stormed through the door and spoke to us with exceptional disdain and condescension. "Can't you see this chair is here?! That means you cannot sit here (in the first row)! Now she touched it and got Covid on my chair!"
My wife and I were instantly dismayed at how rude the driver was being. We let this man know that we were guests, and he was being very rude. Also, if he didn't want people to sit there, he should simply post a sign. "The chair is the sign that you do not sit there!" He said. We were very perplexed and concerned that such a small issue could make this man fly off the handle in such an alarming way, and that he refused to turn the confusing chair "sign" into an actual sign that let people know where they should not sit, if it was such a pressing issue to him.
I told the guy that he could have just let us know politely. His reaction to the moving of the chair said far more about him than anything else about the situation. We rode the boat anyway since we'd already paid our way on. But if there were an option to get off with a full refund, it would have been the easiest decision in the history of humanity.
When we got off the boat my wife said to the man, "You were very rude!" To this he had nothing to say. I applauded her for this, because that's the last thing we will ever say to him and, likely, anyone else at that boat tour after the way we were treated as paying guests.
If you don't like to get yelled at over petty issues, I'm sure one of the many other boat companies will serve you better. read more
