If your answer is "Never!" or "Not very often!" then I will tell you that I was a member of that club. That was true until today. I have Parkinson's Disease, which affects my gait when walking and erodes the strength in my muscles, especially my legs. However, a friend suggested that I make an appointment at the FootWorks store in Pickerington, Ohio, and just see what they can do for me. She allayed my concerns that they "would only want to sell me orthotic inserts." she told me this store would talk to me about what I needed to ease my pain and suffering, yes suffering. My wife and I made an appointment, and due to a customer cancellation, we were able to get in earlier. So, today we went to the store. Justin, co-owner, greeted us both. Then, he talked to me about my needs. I explained my need to get shoes that fit properly and allowed me to walk safely. My wife and I are participating in "Moving Day" in October, to support the Parkinson's Foundation by fund-raising and walking a full mile course. Even though I have contracted painful cellulitis in my left leg, I am still determined to complete the distance. Justin was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and "willing" to work with me to provide the tools (shoes) to accomplish my personal goal. I knew my own shoes did not fit and caused even more pain and trouble. He measured both of my feet and told me he knew why I was having pain. My own shoe, a size 11, was not the correct size for my feet. I am really a size 12 1/2. No wonder I had blisters, bruises, and my feet hurt all the time! What a relief to hear that something could be done! But, only buying shoes that were my correct size was not the answer. I needed shoes that supported my feet, alleviated some of my pain. Justin showed me several different walking shoes "in my size" that surprised me with how comfortable they were. My walker is used for mobility, and as Justin and my wife watched me walk down the hallway, they remarked about how I was standing taller, my ankles were unlocked but supported and I was not dragging my feet, as I normally walk. (A common characteristic of people with advanced Parkinson's Disease). My belief about any business has always been that "customer service is the hallmark of any company." If you feel the same way, then check out FootWorks where you will be given outstanding customer support and shown quality products for your foot needs. The FootWorks Store is highly recommended by my wife and me. I ordered a pair, but will sadly have to wait till next week to get them shipped to the store. However, I have waited far too long already to get good shoes like these, so one week isn't really that long. Besides, I need to heal from my cellulitis so that I can continue my mile-long walking goal with my team. Maybe I'll see you on Parkinson's Moving Day. NOTE: a tip for everyone going into any business at closing. It you show up 20 minutes before a business is supposed to close, it isn't uncommon for people who have worked a long day and still have work to do they can't start until you are out the door to give off a negative vibe. My wife was shopping at the Shoe Dept on East Broad in Reynoldsburg yesterday when she approached…read moreby a man who said that he was the manager wrongfully accused her of disorganizing an isle, called her names and threw her out. He then locked the door at 830 PM when the store closes at 9. I was sitting in my Jeep when she came to me in tears and upset. I went to the door which was locked to find out more of what happened. At that time two gentlemen saw what happened and we began to talk amongs the 4 of us about the situation outside of the store. As I was outside using my phone to find the the to corporate, the store employee unlocked the door and told us to get off his property, used unprofessional language towards us while other shoppers were in the area and threaten to call the police. I was afraid that he would try to get physical with us and I didn't take kindly to disrespect especially when it overblown and that it was directed at my wife so walked to him to protect her and he locked the door again and went back inside. At one point he let another couple in and they left a minute later. Reynoldsburg police came we talked about the situation we were giving a 2 year trespassing warning. I personally never shop there so it doesn't really bother me but my wife who is a frequent customer vowed to never buy anything from this company again. This person who this company entrusted to manage your store had an evil intent to humiliate my wife publicly and we will no longer purchase anything from this company again. She at point will probably never go into a shoe store again without feeling apprehensive about it.

My first two pair of shoes (Mizunos), I absolutely loved! I ran my first half marathon in them and continued to run long distances in them; however, they both started to tear by my pinky toe after a while so I decided to try something "new" for my third pair. I asked for recommendations from my runner friends as I am currently training for my second half marathon (Chicago Rock N Roll Half) and was advised to go with the ASICS Gel Kayano. Poor, poor choice for me. I went in and got fitted and they felt perfect. After my first run in them, I didn't know what to think. My feet went numb within a mile of my run and I developed blisters on both of my heels. I just thought that they needed to be "broken" into and continued to try to get them to break in despite the numbness I was feeling and the constant blisters. After two months, (with very few runs and seven weeks until my half marathon), I finally reached out to Columbus Running Company explaining my experience with the shoe and to see what they could do to help as this shoe was not cheap and there was no way that I was going to make it through my half marathon training in this shoe. Eric Fruth advised for me to return to the store to try on other pairs of shoes so that I could find the right shoe to carry me through my half marathon. He also asked about my half and gave me a few tips which I appreciated. Customer service like this is very rare to find these days. After work, I went straight to the store and was immediately assisted by Becca who helped me find the perfect shoe! Thank you, Columbus Running Company for putting you customers first!
