Red Wagon Shoppe isn't your typical liquor store. They have a HUGE extensive selection of beers, wine, liquors and cigars. I came in looking for a very specific beer and was open to another option if they didn't have it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had the beer I wanted! The cashier was really helpful and was able to help me find it. They also have a humidor with cigars (which is pretty cool). The store is very clean and conveniently located with lots of parking in their private lot. I would definitely recommend checking them out for all our alcohol needs! read more

Both times the staff was very helpful in finding exactly what I was looking for and had great recommendations. Very knowledgeable and helpful both when I was looking for something specific and also when I only had a vague idea of what I wanted. I was able to find a $15 wine for a girls wine exchange, more expensive wines for present for my boss and a mid range to enjoy for Christmas! Store is organized well. We bought a Samuel Smith apricot beer (and they had it in strawberry and other flavors too) and some sort of cherry beer. I'm not a beer person but both were really good. If you're into cigars, they have a walk-in humidor, too. They have a large wine selection also. I do wish they had more ciders, though - most of them were in 6-packs although they did have a few individual ones you could buy. They have B. The store is well stocked with anything you might be searching for. The employees NEVER leave from behind the counter, so trying to find something can be challenging. Once you make your selection and head to checkout you will not be greeted in any manner. The next step is you lifting every thing out of your cart and placing on the counter. The "men" behind the counter will not offer you a hand, they stand with attitude as you lug your cases onto the counter. The service is rude and unfriendly not to mention unprofessional. My hubby and I have been frequenting both red wagon locations for quite some times. First, the service I have received has always been great, the staff is very helpful and they have gone out of their way at times to get my hubby his Guinness kegs last minute. I am a liquor/wine person so I cannot claim to know a lot about their beer selection. Their wine selection is one of the better in the area, however more Spanish wines and muscatos would be appreciated by yours truly. They do however carry my favorite tempranillo and muscato (Bartenura). In addition, there is always something new and exciting to try in the liquor department! I am always up for trying something different and Red Wagon has never disappointed. For the wide selection alone my hubby and I frequent red wagon, however you are going to be paying a higher price tag. The have a towering wall of liquor and plenty of premium and ultra premium options including some pretty serious single malts scotches and whiskeys. The wine selection is daunting to say the least. When I moved to Royal Oak all those years ago, I was amazed to find the Red Wagon Shoppe. Happening upon it on my way to visit a friend in Rochester Hills, this particular wine and liquor shop never disappoints. They have a fairly comprehensive selection of mid to high-end liquors and a wonderful selection of wine. What makes Red Wagon better than the rest? They have liquors that are difficult to find (e.g. Hibiki) and vintage wines (e.g. aged Champagnes). They round off the selection with decent beer and cigars. The shop also has a knowledgeable staff that can answer a multitude questions; in particular, their wine guy is awesome. read more

OK.. first off.... I used to go to this place before they built the new store, so things have changed a bit. I guess the prices of wine and beer are higher than average cause they have to pay off that new building they built. They have a decent selection of beer, much better than the average corner store whose only import beer is from Canada. But they are way too expensive on certain beers, I know this, cause im a cheap bastard and look for the best prices :) The wine selection is good, but not great.. the prices are pretty much the same as what I said about the beer. If you want the best selection and prices, you go to Champanes in Warren, load up a Uhaul and go nuts, since they can get things that no one else can get. Like the Rosenblum wines... to get the really good and unique wines from him, you need to go to Champanes, since they pretty much buy everything that they can get shipped here to MI. Cigars, who knows.. I dont smoke the things, its bad enough my neighbor does and I can smell it in the summer time, smells like charbroiled ass coming through my window... So i cant really say what their prices are like cause I have this thing about not wanting cancer and smelling horrible :) Lastly... they have a great selection of booze, if you cant find it and Michigan can get it.. they will order it for you, but they typically have a good selection of everything and their prices are as low as MI will allow them. Thats pretty much what I go here for, is their booze. I will go to Champanes for beer and wine, plus on my way back, I will go to Kuhnhenns Brewery to fill up a growler or two just to have some delicious Michigan made beer. So if you are in a pinch, go here for a good selection, but if you are like a lot of other people, trying to watch where their money goes... I say go elsewhere. read more

The guys behind the counter are always helpful and willing to make suggestions. They will generally give samples as well. Was in the Troy store this afternoon to buy a bottle of Barzilian Rum. Clerk was helpful and I decided on a bottle of Cachaca at $17.98. I am using it to make Caprinnias so did not need the top of the line. I browsed and also picked up a bottle of Vino's Bloody Mary mix which I like. Checked out and went home. Upon getting home I looked at my receipt and noticed I was charged $20.54 instead. No happy about that! Verified on the State of Mich website that the Scanning Error Law applies to liquor as well. Returned to the store and informed them of the scanning error. Clerk went to talk to the manager, clerk came back and refunded me the difference. I asked for the bonus money $5.(10 times the difference up to $5). Clerk went back ot the manager and he refused to give me the bonus money EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THE LAW! I will look into pursuing a samll claims case which for scanning errors is a minimum of $250 when a merchant does not comply with the law. read more
