Best Ski Shop in Dearborn period. Best quality skis, boards,…read morewearables. Don't get shafted online, do it right the first time at Nichols

very helpful + accomodating + fair prices…read more Special Shoutout to Chris! I am a novice skier and was ready to pickout my own equipment instead of using rentals. I did online research and called around to other equipment shops but no one was as helpful as Chris at Nicols. First, she answered my questions in depth over the phone, even calling the other location to see if they had was I was after. When I went to visit her in the shop, I felt like she was the first person I could talk to who really understood my skill level, and the equipment that would be best suited for me to improve. She took the time to listen to my experiences. When I told her about some of the runs I was trying to do at Boyne, she knew exactly what I was talking about. She was really supportive in answering questions about skis I found elsewhere. I really felt like she cared. I didn't get my skis here (went with an older model), but I bought my boots (Chris helped me pick them out) and had them install the bindings. The prices in the store seemed really fair. I expected them to be high for a specialty, in-store shop but that didn't seem to be the case. My husband made a special request and asked them if they would do the bindings same day. They said they would try (no promises) and ended up getting it done! They also carry accessories and apparel, like snowpants. I am so pleased to have found Nicols! I now have a go-to place in my neighborhood for equipment, gear, accessories, and apparel!

My husband and I were looking for a boat primarily for fishing. We went into Buckeye to check out…read moretheir selection and to shop around for the perfect boat. We walked in and was greeted by JD. He was very helpful, professional and cared about satisfying our request and would not allow us to purchase anything that would not satisfy our needs. We appreciated his thoughtfulness and kindness. We picked up our boat two weeks ago and upon arrival, Pete introduced himself and gave us the King and Queen tour of our new purchase. He walked from front to back and showed us all we needed to know. We are very pleased. Thank You Eli and Karen Oh, we just received a thank you gift of delicious cookies and cups!!!

Two terrible experiences with the marine service and parts department yesterday…read more 1) On Tuesday I called about getting a PWC battery. I was told to call ahead of time so they can add acid and charge up the battery, no problem. I was told the battery was $172 (before taxes, etc). I called the next day to order the battery and when I picked it up I was charged $203 (before taxes, etc.) I told the salesperson that I was told the battery was $172, he didn't care, he charged me $203. 2) They add 3% if you use a credit card, but not if you use a debit card or pay by check. No problem, I get it, but I told them you should let people know ahead of time (I would have brought a debit card), the salesperson said "sometimes" we tell the customer (huh?), the salesperson could care less. The salespeople's attitude was that they didn't care at all that they screwed this customer. I'm afraid they have lost a longtime and repeating (PWC and ski package) customer. Maybe business is so good they don't care about customers.

I may have bought my first skis in 1977 from MC Sports or something like that and have since always…read moregone to a ski shop for my gear. The Ski Co. is one of the best out there. The staff is very knowledgable of the equipment they sell and they take the time to hear what kind of skier you are and recommend the proper gear. If your feet are not comfortable then you will hate skiing! Mick at The Ski Co. and some of their other staff are pros at tuning your boots. I have purchased 2 or 3 sets of boots here and always pay the extra $ to get custom footbed inserts. It presses your feet up into the top of the boot to get rid of any slop and stop your foot from moving forward and jamming your toes, that hurts! I have purchased skis, poles and garments here and have never been unhappy with the product or service received. If you are really into the sport don't waste your time at the big stores like MC, etc. go to a ski shop even if it is not The Ski Co. you will be glad you did. You may pay a bit more but in the long run you will be so happy!

Best ski shop in the area. Their youth ski rental program is great for kids who can take advantage…read more After taking advantage of the program for many years with both my boys, because my son is a harder than average skier, we decided he needed more aggressive equipment than was offered in the program. The Ski Company usually has a few pairs of higher end demo skis (very gently used factory demonstrators) available and that's what we opted to buy instead for a price well below list. I have also bought quite a few pairs of skis for myself based on thier recommendations, and couldn't be happier. Prices are always fair. This is the only ski shop I will buy from in MI.
