It's a shame the company decided to wreck the ambience of their restaurants by going all stripped-back industrial hipster with their new fit-outs. It smacks of desperation, an identity crisis, and worse, trying to shoe-horn the brand into a more popular market position it will never achieve.
Red Rooster should focus more on its classic offering instead of trying to be "relevant" to the hyper-visual and forever fickle Millennials. Their tastes will shift and shift again but dependable offerings will be their mainstay and they will soon defer to nostalgia that isn't even their own. The shanty town interior décor is all grey, insultingly bare and uncomfortable and so seems like a miserable punishment for those who choose to dine in. Confusing.
If anything, the market would have gone crazy for a return to the original packaging, jingle and a maintenance of its wholesome, nostalgic aura of its restaurants.
The service at this restaurant has gone down several notches, because they are operating with less staff while trying to provide home delivery and drive through. The person who serves you at the counter is so distracted by their headset that they forget parts of orders and don't provide restaurant diners with napkins, etc. that used to be available at the counter.
I cannot fault the food as it's the same good quality as it's ever been. If it weren't, then I'd be quite happy with cooked chooks from the supermarket and wouldn't bother with the ol' Rad Rooter ever again. read more
