GranTyke GrandCanyon RoadTrip Episode 6 It was early in the morning when he rode into the town.. He came riding from the south side, slowly lookin' all around "He's an outlaw loose and runnin'", came a whisper from each lip.. "And he's here to do some business with a Big Iron on his hip".. We Three hopped on to the Red Magic Trolley, which turned into a private Trolley Tour Ride (Thank You No-Shows..:). Our Driver and Tour Guide was Will. Will was a fun, knowledgeable Veteran. We saw "Chimney Rock", "Coffee Pot Rock" (not percolating at the moment..:), Camel Rock, Snoopy Rock, Teapot Rock (very celestial) stopped and toured solo "Chapel of the Holy Cross" (breath taking statue of Jesus, we also surprisingly found a Menorah Christmas Ornament..:), Courthouse Butte, Bell Rock Pathway and Castle Rock. Will also shared with us the history of Sedona, "The Founder, T.C. Schnebly initially wanted to name the post office "Schnebly Station" or "Oak Creek Crossing," but postal authorities rejected them for being too long. His brother, Ellsworth Schnebly, then suggested naming it after T.C.'s wife, Sedona Miller Schnebly, who was known for her kindness and hospitality. A fun informative Trolley Ride, Thank You Will!! "Now the stranger started talkin' made it plain to folks around Was an Arizona ranger, wouldn't be too long in town He came here to take an outlaw back alive or maybe dead And he said it didn't matter he was after Sedona Red After Sedona Red..:) Best, Avram Martyrobbins Jr. read more

Respectful customer service (meaning no one was outright rude), but absolutely terrible leadership and customer EXPERIENCE! I discovered Red Rock Magic Trolley from a Groupon I found online when researching tours in Sedona. I purchased the Groupon, and was able to book our tour for relatively early in the morning (before the weather got too hot). Two days before our tour, I receive a phone call from the company. The woman was very honest; she shared that they overbooked our tour by accident, and they are moving all the Groupon customers to later in the day when they have more availability. The only time that worked for us was 1PM (when it would be miserably hot). I agreed because they left us no choice, but we had to completely rearrange our plans for our trip to accommodate this last minute change. If you are going to offer discount rates, you cannot treat customers differently if they elected to use your discount. THEN, just a couple of hours before the tour, I got another call that the bus was having mechanical issues and that the tour was cancelled. This was our only day in Sedona, and because the tour was canceled only hours before, we were unable to book a tour with a different company. On top of that, we had to go back and forth with Groupon to get a refund because Red Rock Magic Trolley couldn't help us there. read more

Didn't get the chance to get on the tour at all since tickets sell out quick. Ensure that you are scheduling ahead of time, and make sure to note the date of booking besides the time. Supposedly there was an email with additional instructions for parking and what not when there was none. We booked through Groupon which gave us quite the discount. Thank goodness for that because we booked the wrong date and neither businesses, Red Rock Magic Trolley nor Groupon would reimburse us. What's more upsetting was there was only one person coordinating all reservations and check-ins and she wasn't entirely helpful either. It was an oh that's too bad. The only solution Groupon provided was to allocate our tickets to someone else. read more

Not being hikers and hubby having a bad back, this vendor offers exactly what we are looking for. Although our original tour was cancelled due to driver illness, our High points tour with Salt was great. She knowledgeable and kept us on schedule. I particularly enjoyed our time at the airport mesa lookout when she took the time for us to experience the energy of the vortex. It was also good to have the bus go right up to the cathedral versus walking up. This team does it right! Do arrive early because parking is a challenge. We parked a couple of blocks up behind the art collective building (?). read more

I had bought tickets on Groupon for the two of us to take this tour. I looked at a variety of the trolleys available and thought by reading the reviews this was the best choice. Unfortunately, that was not the case. If you do purchase tickets through Groupon be aware you need to pay the taxes which are $3.99 a ticket. No big deal wish we would've known. Next make sure you are on time! Our bus left at 2:58 PM and the tour was to start at 3 PM. When we boarded the trolley, unfortunately it did not smell very good. I would say maybe musty? And it is not air-conditioned. Several people asked for the trolley to turn around and drop them off because they wanted their money back. They said it was advertised as an air-conditioned trolley, and it was not. I'm not sure what I would consider it to be? Like a swamp cooler? John, the driver said it was on as high as it was and he didn't know what the issue was. Several other people were going to leave but decided to stay. I am glad our tour was at 3 PM because while it was stuffy and a tad warm in the trolley it would've been worse if we would've been on the tour that started at noon. John, who was the tour guide definitely had some knowledge. For some reason, the headset he was didn't seem to be working properly. Or he needed to turn up the volume. Once he did that it was better. Unfortunately he did not use the headset for the rest of the trip. It was very hard to hear him and understand what he was saying. A few of people were asking him to repeat things. We did get dropped off to take pictures. Two stops were about 10 minutes. The Chapel of the Holy Cross we had about 20 minutes or so to get pictures. Definitely an experience and I'm glad we were able to visit. The gift shop is downstairs but extremely small and tight. John definitely loves his job and knew a lot about Sedona. It was unfortunate that whatever was going on with the air conditioning and headset couldn't be resolved. The next time I come to Sedona , I would definitely take another trolley tour or even invest the money for the Pink Jeep Tour. read more

This is the only way to see the high points of Sedona. There are so many autos trying to get to the same point parking is very limited. The shuttle drops you off at the location the cars are trying to get to and picks you up at a short time later. You have already seen the location while the cars are still looking for a parking place. TAKE THE TROLLY read more

We took a tour with Will and it was very informative. We recommend this company!! Very good tour. John and Denise

Visited Sedona for a day and started with the Shuttle Tour. Scott was informative and personable! We loved seeing all the beautiful sites, hearing the history and playing with our imagination by guessing whats the different images in the beautiful Red Rocks. Definitely worth doing if you want to enjoy a nice ride around Sedona read more

Arrive early to find parking. Drove 2.5hrs, got there close to trolley time. No parking on site, have to find parking. There are signs nearby with a P for free parking. You will get a text while you're driving on the highway with instructions. Wasted money had to book with another agency since had to still drive to the Grand Canyon. Poor customer service. read more

The woman helping at the check in was rather rude because she didn't feel we were getting out of the office fast enough.

I thought I was going on a trolley, but it was a van!!!! The van was comfortable with a friendly driver.

Wonderful time! Had an easy reserving just 3 seats the night before because of a last minute decision.. arrived 30 minutes before the trip time and we were greeted at the front by Scott our bus driver. He gave us a little preview before walking to the bus. Advice: sit anywhere in the bus EXCEPT behind the driver. The views are wider all around by being in the middle or there will be obstruction sittiin the front. We decided to move away from the front when we stopped. Scott's microphone ran out of juice and we had to listen carefully. He did a wonderful explanation of all we saw and helped us take pictures during our stops. We had a great time along with beautiful weather. read more

The tour was ok. Our tour guide Salt was a little on the macabre side, dwelling on venemous snakes that kill within 30 min., getting dizzy from the vortex and falling off cliffs, and death by dehydration. Three things that probably aren't going to happen to people who takes busses to explore. It is impossible to find parking anywhere close. There are no handicapped spaces or reserved spaces for the business. There is no restroom available for paying customers. We had to walk at least a block to the city public restrooms. Again, people who take busses instead of hiking might have mobility issues. No facilities, but they will gladly sell you a bottle of water for $3.00. If you choose this company, make sure you use the restroom before you arrive and allow plenty of time to walk several blocks from a parking area. read more

Salt was our guide and she was very informative on our tour. We learned about the history of Sedona. She was a lot of fun and very interesting. I recommend the bus tour highly. read more

My family and I had an absolutely fantastic time on the red rock Magic trolley, however, we were on a coach van, not a trolley. The price was very reasonable, we hit all of the top points in Sedona, the tour guide, Salt, was so entertaining and informative. Lastly, I'd left something in the coach and called back afterwards and the staff was so nice and accommodating and helping me get my Lost items back. Everything from A-to-Z was perfect with this tour company! I highly highly recommend red rock magic trolley. read more

Tour was great for the price. I did sit in front seat behind driver and when Kenny turned the round about I fell out my seat. So don't sit there. They need to drill in a safety bar in. Kenny joked around a lot. Not sure what we're true facts. So Kenny more facts less jokes. read more

Tours are not for everyone, especially in this day and age with the smartphone. You can look up places to go to and learn about them on your own, and you can enter in a destination on a map app to get guided directions. You can then move at your own pace and go wherever you want. All of that is pretty easy, but I was feeling lazy so I decided to give a tour a try. Red Rock Magic Trolley was the cheapest and most convenient option for me. I went on the Sedona Hi-Points Tour. The tour takes up two hours and goes to a few landmarks in the area. The process is pretty easy. Get your tickets online or onsite. Show up for your tour, and the staff will tell you where to go to catch your ride. The tour was informative, and it spent enough time at each destination. Water was provided as well, which was a nice plus in the summer heat. If going on a trolley is going to be a highlight for you, skip this tour and go with another one of the tour options. This particular tour does not use a trolley. You will be transported around in a van. Read the tour information. It is in the description. I usually prefer driving around on my own. However, it is sometimes a nice change of scenery to be driven around and to have information spoon-fed instead. read more

We love day trips, especially ones that allow us to escape the summer heat in Phoenix! While we were up in Sedona this weekend and decided to take a tour on the Red Rock Magic Trolley. We've done several Pink Jeep tours and enjoyed them so figured we'd try something different. The Boynton Canyon Tour which we chose included a tour through the city of Sedona (up and down through uptown and the outskirts) and Jordan Park. I'm not certain if I misheard or if we ended up not making a second stop to get out, but the first spot we did get out at was beautiful. The guide was friendly & shared some information about the town (lots of jokes added). Overall, the 85 minute tour went by pretty quick and was enjoyable. It allowed us to see parts of Sedona we hadn't been to before in a relaxing way. The trolley itself was clean, seating wasn't the most comfortable; it was just ok. We had found a Groupon to sweeten the deal. read more

Found a great deal on Groupon for these trolley tours and decided to book the Chapel of the Holy Cross tour for my mom and I on our last day of our Sedona trip. We had visited the Chapel in the past however found this hour long tour to be fun and informative. Our tour guide, Michael was extremely knowledgeable about Sedona's history and we learned quite a bit. The tour allowed us 20 minutes to walk around the Chapel, take photos and my mom even got to light a 3 day prayer candle. Would highly recommend this tour for anyone who needs a senic and educational activity in Sedona, very day trip friendly. read more

Ok, in your mind's eye describe a trolley. Does it have open sides? Maybe an open top or a canvas top? Are you elevated? Wide open sides so you can take pictures? Yeah, that's exactly what we imagined too. However, our "trolley" bore a striking resemblance to the little busses that our local senior citizen center uses to shuttle their patrons to their doctors' appts, etc. And bc those folks are always cold, they keep it pretty darn warm. Every place we visited was a tourist spot; there was nothing hidden or out of the way. We could have driven our rental minivan everywhere. Our tour guide was pleasant and informative, but he really didn't have much to work with. read more

There were 8 in our family and booked an "open trolley tour", the Boynton Canyon. We were quickly ushered to a closed in bus and directed to the back end. This we were told was typically used for "the wedding bus and drinkers." We were told two different reasons why we did not get the open trolley...one employee said because of "yesterday's storms?" and the driver said "it had broken down that morning." The view from the back was a plywood board that was covering where the window should have been. Matthew, the driver was reviewing all the restaurants that he "would not go to!" We stopped once in the amphitheater area that is no longer in use?? I requested a full refund as trip was not given as booked and denied. I would not ever recommend this tour or company. Totally rude and non-communicative. read more

I had a chance to check out both trolley companies on my recent visit to Sedona. This one had availability at the date and time we wanted, when the other did not. The person helping us make our decision was a little high pressure, but we eventually settled on the Chapel of the Holy Cross Tour for 15$. He advised us that we may not enjoy it as much as the 2 other tours they offer as it is something that appeals to an older crowd, but we had a great time with our 6 elderly trolley mates. Checking out the chapel was cool, and my friend is really into all the photo ops. The best part was driving around town with the wind blowing in your hair on a warm day. I preferred this tour to the other company as they had a separate person besides the driver to answer questions and tell you about the area. We probably would have opted to do an alternate tour by this company if a 2nd tour was not more than the price of their competitor. I really like that this gave us an overlay of the town and helped orient us. I don't know if I would have opted to do it if we had come to Sedona with our own car as most of this stuff you would see eventually on your own, you would just miss out on the commentary. My friend was a fan of the cookies they passed out on the trip. read more

We were scheduled for a tour which we paid for in advance. They called the night before to say that the tour wasn't available but they could move us to another tour at the same time. I called back 3 times to let them know we wanted to do that and they never answered their phone. When I called them this morning I was told that offer was no longer available and there was nothing they could do about it. It's ridiculous for them to offer something and then not honor the offer they made. That is horrible customer service. read more

Red Rock Magic Trolley - Views from the tour! - Tours Near Me - Sedona, Arizona

Late September 2019 3 stars, minus 1 star for the messed-up trolley We took a weekday afternoon Boynton Canyon Tour (85 mins/$25 for adults). Plus: *Super friendly, knowledgeable, and safe driver. *Great canyon stop for photos. *85 minutes was perfect timing. *Walk-up availability. Major Minus: *The trolley itself was ROUGH. Various bench seats were tilted/broken or had janky cushions. Gas(?) fumes would occasionally enter the "cabin." I wouldn't want to take a longer trip on this raggedy trolley. {Note: Another Yelper claims her trolley caught fire in 2018 and I'm not surprised.} Pro Tip: We took the "west side" Sedona trolley tour and easily visited the "east side" Holy Chapel site ourselves later in the afternoon. It was a great choice for us, because we could take our own time with the chapel, store, and surrounding scenery. Book with the other trolley company, if you can. They were sold out, but Red Rock had space...I wonder why?! read more

We took the Hi Points Sedona Tour with Al. It lasted two hours and it was truly amazing. Al was so incredibly knowledgeable and gave us information that's only a local resident would know. He took us to the best vista sights and took photos of everyone. On the last stop he played a musical drum which totally fit in with the surroundings and made the tour even more special. He also told us about sound therapy and gave us website info where we could become more knowledgeable. We have already looked into this and are actively pursuing it. My husband Jack and I would highly recommend this tour with Al. It was so much more than we thought it would be, we thoroughly enjoyed it and it was worth every penny. read more
