CUUUUUUUUTest little shop!…read more Stopped here on a whim when we stayed at a cabin in the Smokey Mountains. We drove through the main town area, that seems a bit touresty. It was really busy so we just kept driving to see what shops we would see along the way and we ran across this little shopping center. We almost walked past this little shop because it's tucked away more towards the back, near the cafe/diner thingy. The name of the shop had me and my fiance both thinking it was going to be a wine shop, but when we walked in we both saw these adorable little sock people! We chatted with the shop owner for a bit and she told us about how she found her craft and showed us some of the custom ones she was putting together. The collegiate ones are SOOO ADORABLE!!! The prices seem pretty fair also for such a custom craft. If you visit the Smokey Mountains, I would DEFINITELY recommend stopping by this little shop and checking out the strip it's in!

This shop with a few exceptions is not my thing, my tunnel vision focus had me walking the aisles looking for things I like or things that I collection, sure I stop and enjoy some interesting items and they make me remember things from my past and they make me smile but they aren't things I'd buy. This shop's staff was very friendly and constantly adjusting and straightening the items displayed, I don't know if this was out of boredom or their way of keeping an eye on their investment - there are thousands of smalls here, lots of souvenirs and trinkets as there should be, this is a mega-tourist area and these types shops are necessary. I didn't see it during my visit here but I can imagine the joy and smiles this place gives to the kids that enter looking for that special keychain or refrigerator magnet that will be part of the memories from their family vacation - it's important that they have access to those things. I didn't make a purchase here, although there were a few items of interest and I liked the fact there were a few televisions playing videos of sights of interest in the surrounding area, these were displayed in the mist of crafts that are associated with what was being broadcasted (genius marketing). Our GPS got us there - there were also signs pointing to where to go! I'm not quite sure where to start as we had an AMAZING experience at Firefly! There is no set class times or anything - it's just come as you can/when you can. The studio was smaller than I had expected, but that's ok. It was perfect! There were 4 other people inside when we got there and we had enough spaces without us being on top of each other. Originally, we were going to do just 1 piece each. But we all had so much fun and it went much quicker than we had thought, that we ended up doing 2 pieces each! The options were a 5x5 tray ($40), a 3x3 ring tray ($22), a funny face magnet ($18), a hangy thing (a sun catcher type thing - $20), or a pendant ($20). The prices include the shipping. Nancy, the owner, fires everything up in her kiln to put it together and then sends it to you. I cannot wait to get our pieces back in the mail. We picked our pieces and started working on them. When you figure out what you want, you use a bit of Elmer's glue to lightly glue it in place. It was so fun trying to decide what to do and to let the creative juices flow! I HIGHLY recommend visiting Firefly Glads Studio when you're in the Gatlinburg area. Nancy, the owner, was amazing to work with and super sweet!
