The Red Lion Inn in Middleton Cheney near Banbury, has much to offer the occasional beer drinker or formal diner. The pub is situated in the heart of the big village of Middleton Cheney, near a primary school and small shopping area. The pub itself is charming, a 17th century looking building, with traditional imagery associated with the English village pub. The hanging baskets outside in the summer are particularly attractive. We have visited this pub on a couple of occasions this year as we live in a village nearby. The atmosphere of the pub is second to none, with a bright sunny feeling, located in a sun-catching spot, but maintaining a somewhat dark, cosy quality inside. The Beer and Food is great too, the steak and kidney pie especcially recommended. Occasionally I believe, the pub has guest ales in, brewed locally, a nice touch. The staff and owners at the Red Lion are very friendly and always welcoming. The pub has much competition, being in a village with a number of other establishments, including a pub 2 minutes away, unusual nowadays for a village area!
This however is the finest pub in Middleton Cheney, and highly recommended to villagers and visitors. read more
