Like many other pubs we have seen it change hands many-a-time. The current owners have made the most changes. The pub now consists of basically the old traditional main building pub, and a gastro restuarant converted from a barn, now attached, which is quite upmarket. The pub itself is small but lovely, all you'd expect from a traditionally country village pub is there, a roaring oak fire and alike! The bar is straight ahead when you go in, but be careful to mind you're head, a beam there is VERY low!, I've often found this out to my peril. The Drinks are the standard good quality lagers and bitters, with occasional local beers given a stint at the bar. The Restaurant section is really just for your upmarket consumer, do not expect traditional cheap pub grub here At least this is what we found at our last visit. The Standard and atmosphere are nevertheless high at the Three Conies. Easy to get to aswell, just off the B road from Banbury to Northampton. Highly Recommended.

I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants that haven't had steak as tender and succulent as what we had here. The ambiance was romantic, quirky, and quiet, perfect for a night out. We started with a potato and leek soup and the Welsh rarebit. The soup was good, not exceptional, but good, and the rarebit was tasty. We continued with the special, which was a hanging skewer with melted garlic butter, corn on the cob, and chips. I can honestly say that I have never had such a delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned beef skewer outside of Greece or Spain. It was an absolute experience simply eating it. One of those rare dishes that makes you pause and close your eyes at the sheer pleasure of the perfect taste. I never wanted it to end. My husband had the same experience with his assorted beef platter. The medallions were so tender you understand what the phrase "melt in your mouth" means. I only wish we had room for dessert, as the dessert menu looked utterly luscious. But we will be back, and soon. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

A favorite dish of ours to have there is the Sunday Roast, very highly recommended, due to the huge portions! especially Yorkshire puddings! The Beer is always good and sold at a fab price for the area. The pub has much competition in the area, considering too there is another pub right next door! this I guess keeps the prices reletivly low. There is only one downside I can think of regarding the Dolphin, the location. Unfortuently the pub is situated at a T junction in the centre of the village, 2 busy roads on either side, plus the village school opposite. It can get noisy at times. However, this pub is a favorite haunt of ours and would be most recommended to fellow local people/villagers, or simply passers-by.
