This place (yes, another Red Lion) is one of those places that just screams 'country pub', which has its pros and its cons.
Situated in a lovely old stone wall building, the place had clientèle with an average age of sixty plus on the occasion that I visited - this is not necessarily a bad thing, especially as these folk were friendly and welcoming, but it did give the place a flat atmosphere.
Another aspect of the pub that made it feel more like the place you'd go if you were rambling around the area rather than if you were in the mood to get smashed was the fact that most people were drinking bitter or ale, and the barman certainly knew how to pull the perfect pint.
I didn't try the food, but it didn't look great from what I saw, although the seniors seemed to be loving it.
