They don't respond to calls or emails, take forever to fix broken items on rental properties, IF they even fix it, it usually takes multiple attempts to contact them first, then when you finally try and move out they want to charge for things that were broken before you even moved in and they never actually fixed to begin with. read more

If you are considering Redkey especially the apartments at blondo street, please don't move in. Look elsewhere. The rent was competive, lower than others, but I know why now. Since moving in back in Dec 2022 I had dealt with roaches everywhere, but heavily concentrated in the living room and kitchen. I complained several times and within the year there was no improvement. They spray every few months and even then roaches were seen inside my fridge. After many attempts at contacting them via email, voice messages and calls I never received my deposit of $600. During my stay, a bat was seen for days inside the laundry room, the manager "Heidi" I think, was always smoking outside but whether her or someone else, the inside of the building smells like cigarettes. The apartment was handed over in filthy condition, it was not cleaned. There were stains in the bedroom walls, a large hole in the drywall in the living room, only covered up with ducktape, fire alarm was not on but found in the kitchen drawer, carpet had a strange smell, roaches seen on day 1, and other large insects were found inside as the balcony doors were not well sealed. I also had suspicions that management entered without notifying me as during one message detailed descriptions were given to me when I continued to complain of roaches. Finally moved out as I was not going to bring my newborn into those living conditions. When I moved out I was accused of handing over the apartment in dirty conditions, missing fire alarm, and much more. I emailed the proof that I had cleaned and had communicated since day 1 the conditions of the apartment and never heard back from them. They failed to return me my deposit of at least 450 since they keep over 100 for closing fees at move out. The month of me moving out, someone in the building had bedbugs and they were going to spray the whole building. Please avoid if you can. Not worth it. Redkey still waiting for my deposit. read more

wish I could give 0. awful communication, disrespectful and rude for no reason. told there was an open house style showing for a rental property from 6-6:30, showed up at 6:15 with no one around. Called the listed number and she said she already left, to which I tried to clarify it was open house style and got told I was wrong then HUNG UP ON. so we left. got a call back saying she had only left the house at 6:20 which is a false. I called her at 6:17 (after checking the door). she said she was canceling her 7:00 to come back to the house, but that "everyone else showed up at 6". I stated we had other appointments, and that's why I clarified in text earlier that day it was open until 6:30 and got HUNG UP ON AGAIN. She then calls me back and says she is at the house "did we leave" I stated I already communicated that to you prior to getting hung up on, twice. then she called me disrespectful! (after she said that I actually was and called her a bitch; apologies, that was uncalled for and I own that) DO NOT RECOMMEND. wow. cannot imagine what the actual tenants deal with. read more

They are single-handedly the worst company I have worked with. We arrived to our unit to find we had no power. Then instead of fixing what seemed like a serious electric issue they allowed the landlord to bring in a personal electrician to paper over the issue. Similarly the garage door used a mechanism which a repair person told us was a safety hazard and not to code. It broke and could have, in his words, taken off a hand or worse. They then took six months to repair the garage door leaving our car outside for the entirety of the winter but made no move toward compensation. Awful company for renters. If you want to rent a house and be completely responsible for repairs and upkeep then this is the company for you. I've been in one of their rentals for just over two months and have now had a leak into my basement from the upstairs twice. The first leak I was supposed to have their maintenance guy come out but he ended up not being able to come out because a family emergency so I paid to have a plumber come out and fix it and asked them to reimburse me and after asking multiple times for a month about it they lied and said that their maintenance guy came and I wasn't here so it was a no show and that they aren't reimbursing me. I literally have text messages from their maintenance guy saying he couldn't come out but they still said he came out.They also couldn't be bothered to have the place cleaned before I moved in, they sent out cleaners the day after I picked up the keys to the house. Save yourself the trouble and go with any other rental company if you need a place to live. read more

Kevin and Lisa are terrible people. Mislead my elderly demented father. Ran our apartment complex into the ground. Allowed numerous problems and always would promise us more. They're quick to blame anyone but themselves. At one point, they were charging us for two lawn companies to cut grass that hadn't been watered all summer. Instead, the sprinkler was pouring water against the foundation. Trash people and a trash business. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away as possible! read more

Just want you to beware. We rented a house that was eventually managed by RedKey. The problem was the move out. There was a lot of unfairness on the part of the owner of this Joseph Ave home and RedKey. The house was vacated the end of November. Utilities were taken out of our name - or at least we thought they were. We were then billed by BlackHills for three months worth of gas to heat this house and we did not live it and the owner will do nothing about it. He sees it as our fault. This is totally unfair and all I can say is beware of renting from this company and certainly this owner. There were a lot of unfair issues but this heating bill was the biggest. The worst maintenance company. Do not rent or hire. Took over a month to fix emergency maintenance to my building. And ask me unprofessional to take down my review on google. Our door was sticking and not l Closing all the way so anyone could get into our building and then light was out a month or so longer after the door was finaly fixed. All the ladies Ive talk to qt their office are rude qnd make you feel like your issues are not important. Pretty sure having your building door close all the way is important. DO not rent. If I had a negative star option I'd would have selected it, moved into my apt when the building was under a different manager. Joe was hands on being that he was the owner of the building, things got done because he was there daily and kept his tenants ents in check by holding them accountable to keeping the place up to tankards. Red Key introduced themselves to me by sending a text notification to sign up for a tenant portal, I text Joe to verify what was in the text was correct. He did and due to my job moving me in 8 months I signed up didn't inquire about my least that was about to expire. The company never send me a new least or said nothing about it so I assumed I was Month-to-Month. I was there Monday evenings to Friday mornings and 1 weekend a month due to my job. When it came time to move I inquired about prorated rend due to the fact I needed to be out by the middle of the month, I was told I had to pay full rent (I did), I asked if someone would conduct a walk through with me when I leave, I was told (that's not how they check ppl out) that I needed to get the key to them by end of month. So I moved on the 10th, paid a full month rent and mailed them the key by the 30th (have my USPS receipt to verify date received). A week later all about the apartment not really about deposit just to see if the had any issues, I was told they got the key late because the person who got the key left the job and never informed the staff upstairs so they were a week behind my refund but, that they were told the apartment was left in great shape, and I can expect my full refund. 8 Nov I called a was told my refund was on the way, nothing a week and a half later I emailed or called told person handling it would get it out that evening, that evening I received an email with a FEAR WEAR VS. DAMAGE PAMPHLET and an invoice stating they took out $80 from my deposit for a draw that was off track, cabinets that were stained once the draw liners were removed (when I moved in I put the draw liners in because the were stained) and that the area where the shower curtain rod was was scuffed up and needed to be painted(I agree to that, the rod did scuff that up). I lived in that apartment for 18 mos I called maintenance twice for what I considered emergency such a a leaky toilet bowl or having no heat, never thought to call maintenance about a draw not being on track. As a person that have rented out my house before I tried to treat their property the way I wanted my treated. I was presented with a after they took the $80 out, told them I had pic as well as video as to how I left the place and I never got a reply. RED KEY REAL ESTATE COMPANY IS A RIP OFF....I rented this pad because I came with electrical and water included and knowing I'd be there infrequent it was convenient for me. I have since send the email traffic in a letter to the NEW tenant in hopes that when they move out they are not charged for what I have already paid for. This building is convenient for ppl who may be low income or not have the best credit or ppl who move for convenience that being said you take advantage of ppl or treat them this way....BE AWARE OF RED KEY REAL ESTATE RENTAL PROPERTY if you have other options rent from SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

Nobody ever answers the phone. I leave multiple voicemails and when I put in maintenance request they call my roommates who've ask me to deal with it because they are both females don't answer random numbers. They know I'm putting in the request but are bugged that keep up with maintenance. Becuase I don't want nothing to fall back on me when I move out never been late on rent but I'm sure if I was they would try to get ahold of me asap read more

If I could put negative stars on this company I would. This company is DEFINITELY all about the owners. They give half truths and change their comments when it does not suit the owners or their company. This is the most unethical and unscrupulous company I have ever encountered. My son rented an apartment under Red Key. I unfortunately had to co sign for him. He did fall behind in his rent. He was cut from his job. By the time I found out, he was behind 4 months. Why did they let him stay there for FOUR MONTHS without notifying me, the co signer, is beyond me. I called Red Key and spoke with Lisa who said he was on a month to month lease and could put in his 30 days and vacate the premises. This would stop any additional rent piling up. I thanked her for her help and even sent her a $50 gift card! When he put in his notice that he was leaving the end of January, a notice that Red Key ACCEPTED, all of a sudden, he couldn't leave until March 1st! What happened to month to month? We were forced to stay another month or face eviction, court cases, etc. So now that is FIVE months of rent and charges. I had to take out a loan to pay off my son's rent because they kept adding on extra charges that they never spoke about in the beginning. Finally my son moved out. I thought that was the end of the nightmare. Then last week they sent ME, not my son, but ME an email talking about we owe another $2079!! They said they had to do a "deep cleaning" for over $600, clean the carpets for over $600, drywall and painting for over $300 and a bunch of other crap! My son wasn't even there a year! He didn't even hang pictures! What drywalling and painting had to be done???? They didn't provide any before or after photos, which I requested. They totally took advantage of my son being a first time renter who didn't know to take his own photos. And everytime I try to speak to them, they blame the "property owner." If you see Red Key on your realtor or lease agreement, make sure you read EVERY SINGLE WORD of your contract. Send it to an attorney and have him go over it. Or better yet, just run for the hills and work with an honest company that will go over things and tell you the truth from the jump. This company is awful!! read more

Red Key Real Estate and Property Management are Top Notch. My wife and I have dealt with multiple Property Management Companies in the past with mixed results at best from delayed response to outright refusing to address serious issues for months on end. Colin and the support team have always been quick to respond and address any issues and concerns we've had as tenets. We had an issue with water in our basement and Red Key had a plumber out the same day to fix the problem...Would recommend to anyone new to Omaha... read more

We starting renting this house 3 weeks ago. The condition it was given to us in was astronomically horrific. Fly feces covered every inch of the ceilings, there was blood on the banisters, a strong cigarette smell that will not come out, broken windows with no screens, and a garage door that doesn't have a lock. Red Key has been nothing short of insulting and demeaning to us. A health inspector would've shut this house down but Red Key says fixing these things is a "wish list," not the health hazard it is. Run! Wish I could give -5 Stars. Maintenance sucks.....the put band-aids over this instead of properly fixing them... They nickel and time you with fees. I thought Seldin was bad but damn...black mold. Windows and ceiling on my ground floor apartment leaks every time it rains....the neighbor's sewage has backed up into our tub and toilet several times and no immediate service......emergency maintenance number is invalid. Absolute joke of a company. Has multiple people doing the same job and then decide not to communicate with each other. Oh yeah, and the people they send don't even know what they are talking about such as the difference between an appraisal and home inspection. They just kept showing up to "inspect" months before the lease was up. I have rented through many companies and Red Key is by far the biggest joke of them all, there company motto is probably "we'll hire anybody and send them out with no clue and hope they survive." Do not rent from redkey! They do not pick up the phone or call you back when you leave a voicemail. They rent apartments in bad condition. They fix them up just enough to look good at a glance. When my wife and i did a walk of their oak view apartments 2 years ago before we moved in the lady that showed us the apartment told us it would be cleaned and the walls would be fixed and painted before we moved in. It took almost a month for this to be done then when we finally moved in it looked like all they had done is clean the carpet. The walls have holes in them and spackle that isnt painted over. After living there a few days the fridge started to leak and the floor tiles in the bathroom started to come up off the floor. After a year we had horrible mold in our bedro closets that we had to reach out to them twice to even get anyone to come look at it. The guy cut out the ceiling above the closets and left us with holes in our closets for about a week and it ended up raining all over our clothes and belongings. It ruined a tv and my suit i got married in and redkey did nothing to help besides send someone out to get the ceiling put back in and when the guy showed up he didn't know what he was even there for. My wife and i had to explain what needed done. Redkey sucks!! My wife and i are working on moving out right now. Just need to find a new place to live. read more

Absolute trash help. We viewed the home, agreed we wanted it, put down the deposit and sent in applications. My fiancé had been in some trouble that we told her about and she said if it was a nonviolent crime we were fine. When they denied our request they refused to give a solid reason why, even though in our rights by law they are required to tell you why. When I pushed a bit farther she said I had an eviction in my past. I was a military wife from 21 years old. I have never ever had an eviction. I asked for the paper work to prove it and they said sure we'll send it, but when called again for it they said I had to write a formal request and send it in the mail, not just hand it in. I said fuck that and ran my own backround check, because if it was showing one I needed to dispute it. It was a lie. I didn't have anything on my history and they were just discriminating on my fiancé for his non violent past that happened 6 years before (also against the law). Smh. Trash trash trash.
