My car, 2003 Chevy Cavalier, had to be towed to Red Iron in Powell, Wyoming in 2015. They said my car needed a new Timing Chain. (Which would be a kit as in 2015 they no longer made Chevy Cavaliers) Within that purvue of being fixed, my engine was removed and sent to a machinist so the engine could be checked for any warps, etc...that might have resulted from heat. The cost was 2500.00. After the car was returned I had problems.. It sounded strange, rough, and this was a car that if I was standing outside and right next to it I could not hear the engine running. It had an oil leak. I took it back. I was told that "cars start making noises when they get old". (It did not before the repair and up to the repair, the car just died while driving to work) An oil leak was found when a friend changed the oil. ON TOP OF THE ENGINE. I asked about this. I was told, "Maybe the guys didn't clean out the hoses when it was here and left oil in them". (This leaked out of the hoses onto the top of the engine??? I was also told, regarding the noise, "we found a bolt loose". So, here it is, Nov 2017 and I just had to take my car in. Guess what? Something "jumped" and effected the timing chain. I do not remember the name of the part, but it is something, according to the engine auto repair where I took it now, that should have been repaired/renewed when at Red Iron. DO NOT GO THERE!!!! read more
