    Paso Bamboo Farm and Nursery

We recently had a privacy screen of bamboo installed into our small condo backyard and everything…read moreabout the experience was easy. If you are looking for bamboo for your yard this is hands down the place to go. The service is prompt, and the family that owns this business is exceptionally kind and knowledgable. The tour of their bamboo farm is well worth the drive out. We started with a tour of their massive bamboo farm, where they showed us all the different varieties they grow and the different ways they can be used. We chose a species that we felt would be a good fit for our space. They then came out to our house and measured and assessed the site. They were quick to get back to us with a quote that seemed more than fair given all the labor involved in the installation. It had taken me a little while to schedule them out to the house for the assessment, so I was grateful when they graciously had us to come back a second time to look at the species we were choosing for our yard. Once we confirmed the species, they were super quick to come back out and get the job done. In less than a day they transformed my entire backyard; which was no small feat as it was weed ridden, and our soil is so hard it might as well be rock. They dug out the clay, lined the entire surface to prevent spreading into my neighbors yards, back filled it with quality soil covered it with mulch, installed a drip system, and even fixed my heavily leaning fence. This job would have taken me months to accomplish, and it never would have turned out as beautiful. I had follow up questions a few weeks later and they got back to me within minutes giving me all the information I needed to ensure the bamboo remains happy and healthy. Paso Bamboo is not only experts when it comes to bamboo, but they excel in providing a good customer experience that leaves you feeling well taken care of.

I had a good experience with Gavino at the beginning of my customer experience, but four years…read morelater the clumper bamboo I was sold is actually a runner, as evident by my lifting pavers and numerous shoots springing up away from the container it was planted. It is a yellow bamboo-Gavino does not sell clumpers and this caused concern to pavers lifting as well as concerns it could spread to the neighbors since this is on a fence line. His team did a good job planting a black bamboo runner a year and a half later in late 2019 and I am hoping that the better install holds or I'll have more digging to do to figure out the issue. My two stars is for the way that Gavino treated me after raising concerns about not knowing about maintenance that he swears he told me (to cut back any new roots) in November and swearing that it was my impatience for vertical growth that caused him to sell me a clumper-he liked to blame customers. This is not the case.. I researched online and wanted a clumper and asked for that from the get go. I did not care a ton on the look of the bamboo as I am not a bamboo eficenodo. Just wanted a privacy screen. He did try to work with me to see if the installers of the original bamboo used the right container, but I feel like my home was an experiment or something and he clearly told the landscapers it was a clumper too-they shared the same concern and did not purchase plants from him for this reason. I wish I had had the same information! My pictures of the black bamboo planting are on his website and the installers did a good job and the plant is healthy. I wish that Gavino could have taken my concern more seriously and tried to work with the landscapers (All Season who charged $2200 to remove 4 feet of pavers and plat three 15 gallon bamboo in a 5.5 ft area that is now jumping the container because Paso Bamboo was too busy to plant at that time). That was a costly mistake. I'm playing cat and mouse between the companies to figure out what to do from here and Gavino hung up on me after getting hot headed..this isn't a first. So please educate yourselves on bamboo from a reputable online site before dealing with this situation-I wish I had not put so much trust into the companies and had more in detail via email to prove the inaccuracies. Be careful-invasive bamboo can get out of hand and destroy if not handled properly.
