Back in the day this pub was the heart of Langford Village with fantastic food & atmosphere. Since…read morethe owners left some years ago the pub has got worse & worse. The locals don't drink there anymore due to it going down hill therefore with low foot fall by approx 90% this has driven up the prices of drink. The food used to be excellent & every weekend the restaurant was packed. We returned some months back to give a second chance. One of the items we ordered a Goats cheese & caramelised red onion tartlet. This took ages to arrive & by the time it had arrived we had drank a fare bit of alcohol so were ready for a good feed. Well what turned up was a tartlet with grated cheddar cheese & a pickled onion on the top of it! We were starving so we ate the meal & half way through the barmaid came over to see if everything was ok. We explained that this is not what we ordered, that we were not happy & showed her what we got. She just laughed & said Oh I have not had one of those she did not listen to us that we were actually complaining, she turned & left. As we had drunk a few drinks we just had to laugh at the situation & we wrote it off that we would not return. I think that I am probably speaking for the whole of Langford that if this pub dropped its prices of the alcohol & brought back good value decent pub food like back in the days then the locals would return ten fold.

Since the new landlords arrived in June it's back on track for good food and great night out…read more Lots of effort is being made to appeal to all the different clientele from pool nights to coffee mornings. Fab landlords who are are really making the effort to please and go one step further to keep everyone happy.

This is a sad, sad pub. By all accounts it used to be a nice family eating pub but the successful…read moreowners sold out and (as we have all seen many times before) the new owners just couldn't recreate the success. It's a real shame as it should be a nice residential estate pub, it's got a decent car park, in the middle of the shopping area, near an ATM. Yet it can't even manage to serve food anymore. Now I know that not everyone wants to go into a pub for food, but it is a pub that is clearly geared up to serving food as you can see from its layout. Over the last two years I've eaten in there twice. On one occasion in particular we were served frozen cheesecake as a dessert and the replacement was banoffee pie. Now, I can be a bit of a dessert expert, and my beady eye spotted something awfully familiar about the banoffee pie. Sure enough, the next day when I popped into the Tesco Express across the road from the pub the exact same desserts appeared in their frozen food section that were on the pub menu. The difference being that I could have brought a whole dessert (and still had change left over) from Tesco's for the price of a slice at The Nightingale. To be fair, having been in recently for drinks it is a pleasant drinking environment. Sport is available on TV, but that's about all it's got going for it.

Ignore the other, much older reviews of this pub. We have just moved to Langford and we're very…read morepleased to have such a friendly, welcoming local pub that does serve good food for a reasonable price - and judging from the smiles and amusement all around us we're certainly not the only ones. Highly recommended
