Have been to The Acorn several times mainly because we're quite hungry after a good few hours shopping in Bicester Village. On all occasions when we've been here, we've found several members of staff really unacceptably unfriendly and bordering on rude. Today, on our latest visit, we found the male staff including the manager to be polite and friendly and the female staff very rude, not even acknowledging us saying Thank you when they brought over the cutlery and condiments. When I took my diet coke back to the bar politely asking them to change it as it had at least 8 huge cubes of ice in it and barely any actual Diet Coke, the girl behind the bar was not happy to change it and then when she did (without any hint of friendliness) had the cheek to ask me for £1.95 before realising she was changing a drink that had already been paid for, she didn't even say sorry! Do they really think charging £1.95 for a glass full of ice and a splash of Diet Coke is good value? I don't think so!
The food is good value and portion sizes are decent enough, will definitely fill you up. I've had several different meals from their fairly varied menu and have always been satisfied, the tables could really do with cleaning but they really don't seem to take into account that they should do this quickly once removing people's plates so the next lot of people can sit down, it gets very busy there and people were waiting for tables when we left and the queue to even order your meal was very busy.
I would say the toilets need a more regular clean, have seen worse but still in a busy place like this that relies a lot on passing custom from shoppers (who probably don't come back after one experience here) you'd think they'd try to keep it bit cleaner and have some decent staff who know how to crack even a little smile! Not recommended and even though we MIGHT just visit again, we'll try to remember to try somewhere else on the way back from a Bicester shopping trip in future! read more
