Dropped off four pairs of jeans and the most expensive pair had one leg 2 inches longer then the other when I tried them on weeks later.

The Sewing Shop - Thank you for making my gown beautiful!

The Sewing Shop is pure magic! They took my too-big, I'll fitting wedding dress that I already…read moreloved and turned it into a masterpiece! They are truly masters of their craft. I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of compliments I received on my wedding dress and I felt absolutely beautiful in it the whole day. When I first contacted The Sewing Shop, I had already been in contact with several other shops that were too busy to take on my requested services. My phone call was excellent with such friendly demeanor, and all three of my visits were fun and enjoyable. I had no idea my dress needed as much work as it did and they still took on the project even after I misled them saying I only needed a slight alteration. The cost of the alterations were a bit too expensive but you are paying for the quality of work and years worth of experience from this husband and wife couple! The only thing that happened with my dress was that the bustle kept breaking buttons off the back of my dress but I believe this was entirely tied to how heavy my train was and how much jumping around dancing I was doing. The bustle before some buttons snapped was perfectly placed and the perfect length for me to walk around comfortably!

I cannot thank the Sewing Shop for making my gown perfect for the wedding! Especially during a…read morepandemic- they were able to custom fit and perfect everything over night! Thank YOU so incredibly much!

I wish that Yelp allowed for 6 star reviews because Sarah would deserve it…read more I took my lace wedding dress to the 2 best rated tailors in Boston, no exaggeration, both made Best of Boston and they both were extremely disappointing. I frantically emailed Sarah 4 days before my wedding because I had finally given up when the last tailor STILL after 4 fittings didn't get my train correct. Sarah calmly took my dress and made it beautiful. She fixed everything and redid much of the work that was sloppily done from before. I swear that it looked like a different more beautiful dress once Sarah had it for 48 hours. I recommend any bride getting married between Boston and Portland, ME to come to Sarah if you want your dress to be in the best hands.

Sarah is a miracle worker when it comes to alterations. I purchased my wedding dress off the rack…read moretwo years ago and it was six sizes too large for me! She COMPLETELY deconstructed my dress and rebuilt it (there wasn't one piece of that dress that wasn't reworked!) over a matter of two months. Her talent is simply amazing, not to mention she is also very personable and a joy to work with. Oh, and her prices were extremely reasonable, which was a real plus for a bride on a budget! She has a cute little shop in the time and temp building (she talked about moving, so definitely give her a call to confirm where she's at)... I highly recommend Sarah for any of your tailoring and alterations needs!

I've been here a few times in my life, This was the first…read moretime for me in this location. Very busy inside with adequate staffing. The service there is amazing, to say the least, However, you may have to wait a bit to get served unfortunately nature of the beast. They do some hemming and tailoring. Nothing to the extreme. If you want a fully tailored suit then maybe it is not the place for you. They do rent suits here for the customer's convenience which is great. The shirt collection is very casual for the most part along with the dress shoes. Mostly standard store layout registrars upfront rentals to the left and fitting rooms to the far back end. I was helped by a gentleman named Michel who was very quick and informative. Awesome skill and great temperament could not be happier with his help and suggestions. If you want a hemmed-up suit try to give them a week or so before your event at the earliest as it can be a busy season. There is located in a central area of south portland and very easy to get to and find parking which is a huge plus.

I had been a customer at the Newington NH store, but when the mall closed so did that store…read more I needed a new blazer, and possibly a suit. My wife and I went into the store. One person was with a customer, but two others were at the register chatting. We went over to the suits and looked for about 15 minutes, hoping someone would come over to assist us. Nope. In the Newington store, we were always greeted upon entering and, if nobody was available to help us, told that they'd be with us as soon as possible. We're an older couple, and were dressed in nice clothes - not like we looked indigent or something. They lost a potential sale of several hundred dollars. We won't be back.
