Now, I am all for the availability of late night booze, especially on the way to dinner in the city, or grabbing some beers before heading home...
But this place has possibly the most expensive alcohol I have ever seen in Sydney, and a relatively uninspiring range of wines, most of which you will find in any main-street Porters store throughout NSW, as well as some beers that appear to be of questionable origin.
Although some might say their saving grace is the late opening hours, I have been in the store during the day, and witnessed some of the poorest customer service I have ever seen. On the flor, amongst the debris there was oine hopeless staff member obviously out of their depth when it came to answering questions about a certain wine... Ok, I could deal with that, maybe not their area of expertise?.. Until they returned with a "manager" of some sort, who was clearly irritated from being dragged away from his lunch, which was still slowly dripping down his ample chin.
This guy.... this guy, was condescending to both me and his obviously ESL staff member. It was made clear in no uncertain terms that I was wasting his time away from what appeared to be his lunch, as eaten directly from a trough, and that maybe my knowledge of wine was not in the same realm as his... To be fair, he did appear to have consisted on only red wine and meat pies for a majority of the last decade, so maybe I was ill informed?
Anyway, 1/10, would not shop there again, especially considering there is a Liquor Land across the road in World Square, which has similar booze for half the price. read more
