It has to be smaller than the average Leroux Kitchen, but whether it's more neatly organized or they just carry more interesting stuff, it seems like Now You're Cooking really has it all. I love that they have many versions of one gadget at different price points. We needed a new garlic press and there must have been 7 different kinds, ranging from your cheaper OXO to $60 stainless steel versions. You can also buy almost any kind of small cookery appliance here, really nice knives, storage containers, even a room of tableware. And on top of all that, they have a great selection of beer, wine, some cheeses, spice blends, nice Little Red Cup teas out of Brunswick. It's glorious. All I want is endless gift certificates to this store.

This place was different -- they had so many kitchen gadgets at every price point imaginable, and they had so many cool items that you could not find online (or it would be more expensive). We were surprised by the size of the store. It's huge! If they don't have what you're looking for... then you probably don't need it. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We bought a book and a cheese grater that put our previous one to shame. We can't wait to return again when visiting Bath.

I could literally just spend a week making that three hour trek, stopping every 5-7 miles at an antique store, but I digress. One of the first pottery stores we encountered in the trek was Salt Box Pottery. A big fan of salt boxes myself, and a big fan of pottery, I was sold. You might be saying to yourself... why does a man who annoyingly claims to keep a low sodium diet, as much as a crossfitter likes to talk about how hard their work out was, like salt boxes? Listen, I can appreciate the pottery and construction of a salt box can't I?! Can I not?! So, this adorable little outpost is half store and half studio. There was one potter who was in studio when we arrived and she graciously let us use her restroom and was not very hovery (probably not a word) as we shopped around. I ended up purchasing a beautiful bowl, which I pretty much use every day now. And I also purchased a small blue cup that I have no idea what the use case is. It's almost the size of one of those la fermière terracotta yogurt containers... and when I buy those I usually make candles out of the empty containers (like a good resourceful gay). But... I definitely wouldn't want to light any fire in this small beautiful blue thing. I'll find a use for it one day, and it will be glorious. If you're headed from Harpswell Maine to Bar Harbor I'd highly recommend stopping here. I can tell you, as someone who is in their Pottery era, and as someone who stopped at MANY of the potters between Harpswell and Bar Harbor... this was surely one of my favorites. So much so, that amongst the 10 or so pottery stores I stopped at - this is my first to review and the one I'm most excited about... and that's coming from someone who keeps a low sodium diet... did I mention I keep a low sodium diet?

*Temporary Update!*…read more I received a box in the mail the other day from Bridgham & Cook filled with all of my favorite British goodies (biscuits, crisps, oatcakes - things that are very breakable), but it was packaged SO, SO WELL that not a single thing was broken or broken open. Unfortunately, it didn't have a note from the sender! I sent a message to B&C via Facebook and they quickly responded to let me know who my mystery gifter was and what their message was supposed to say. Loved that they're able to ship things, impressed with how well things were shipped (I've ordered similar things from Amazon and have had them arrived completely destroyed), and felt acknowledged when I reached out with a concern! Still and always a big, big fan when I can't get to my home across the pond.

BUT, although I love the designs of the coffee mugs, they break too often, too soon for the price I pay for them. For example, just last year in 2025, I bought a mug and it's already got a crack down the side and it's leaking! It's not a second. I paid full price. I have mugs that I've owned for perhaps 50 years and they've never broken. But I haven't even got two years from this mug and I'm the only user and treat it like all my dishes, carefully. It's a quality issue. I have an older GP mug and it has the very same issue. Not sure why they don't hold up.

Before I even picked out a clock the employee informed me that the mechanism can be replaced for only 7 dollars while a new clock was 50 dollars. I was so impressed she informed me of this voluntarily and potentially missing a sale. I bought a new clock and plan to have the old one fixed. The other aspect it love about this store is the space. You can browse and see everything without feeling as though your purse will knock over a 100 dollar piece of pottery. Defiantly check this place out if you're in need of a unique gift.

Unfortunately we arrived 20 minutes before closing but the manager did not put any pressure on us to hurry up. She was excellent and very helpful in telling us the history and selection of the item we purchased. This store also has consignment artists that display jewelry and beautiful metal working to enjoy and purchase which makes it even more fun. There is even a seconds area up stairs at a 20% discount for less than perfect pieces. Note - We actually happened to find their second store on the waterfront in Portland Maine. Unfortunately we did not have any room left in our luggage or a place to put it at home....
