Boise Recycling on Glenwood is one of six recycling centers in Idaho run by Western Recycling. (This facility is really located in Garden City, not Boise but the Yelp page lists this as a Boise address.) Having made several trips here in the last week, I can say it is a very good place to drop off (free of charge) clean, unused newsprint stock paper in big quantities. But here's the important tip: the move they were scheduled to make from Glenwood to their new location on 1990 South Cole scheduled for July 9 has been postponed until August 1. Just a heads up. I'm used to a recycling center in Bend Oregon which is a pristine facility in a lovely location amply staffed by very helpful people. It serves all of Deschutes County, which is quite a lot less in total population than the greater Boise area which Boise Recycling serves. While the Boise facility shares in common the very helpful people, the ample staff, lovely facility and pristine location are missing, something that surprised me given the gold standard to which I have become accustomed out in Central Oregon. Still, the Boise Recycling facility works for what one needs it to do. I've been a fan of recycling since learning "waste not want not" at my grandparents knees way before it was cool to do and even before the first Earth Day. And for that reason, I'm a fan of this facility. THIS N THAT: 1) ELECTRONICS: The facility will take many electronics cast offs like keyboards and monitors and so on. Good resource! 2) PAY FOR SOME METALS: I understand the facility also pays recyclers for some things like certain scrap metals like copper.

    Convenient but poor service

Quick, easy place to drop off virtually anything recyclable. I was in and out within minutes. Great to have someplace local to recycle.

I've probably driven passed Reuseum countless times not realizing what it was. Even when my…read moredaughter told me about it, I still wasn't convinced enough to make a visit. That all changed yesterday when we made a donation of quite a bit of electronic goods from my parents home. There are carts outside to leave your donations but make sure to follow the rules and guidelines online about what you can leave and what items like LCD screens and monitors have a fee for donating. Inside the Reuseum is a treasure trove of all sorts of electronic goodies from years past. If you're an electronic enthusiast, you will find yourself here for awhile reminiscing about the past and how much electronics has changed over the years. I happen to find two Polaroid cameras from the early 1960s and quickly snapped them up. If you're not looking for nostalgia but actually need a particular cable à la Fry's Electronics, you'll most likely find it here. Reuseum is a cool place and definitely warrants a visit if you have a fondness for all things electronically.

Bumping up to three stars. Good stuff, old stuff. Sometimes the only place to get good old stuff,…read morelike a VCR that may not be in perfect condition but it plays and the price is right. Original review was to make sure everyone knew that they don't take televisions or monitors or anything with a screen that creates a picture out of light. And if they do take them, they charge you plenty. Government rules they tell me. I hope most everybody's caught on by now. The thrift stores, St. Vincent in particular, will take smart devices only. The county dump will take all such devices, but if you want to do that for free, make sure it's the only sort of thing you have in the truck. Cannot do an electronics run and an ordinary trash run at the same time. Other than that, the Reuseum is kind of awesome.
