So today when we grabbed lunch to-go nearby I requested we bring it back to eat amongst the treeeeees. The park is fab...bocce ball courts and volleyball courts, a lovely play area, and picnic tables. Everything looked very well-maintained and clean. This park is a total gem--thoughtfully designed, beautifully shaded, and perfect for families. There are plenty of swings and a great variety of play equipment to keep kids engaged for hours. One of the things I appreciated most was the visibility--there's seating thoughtfully placed all around the park, so no matter where your child is playing, you can easily keep an eye on them. There's even a grassy area under the trees where you can lay out a blanket and relax. Even on a hot day, the metal slides stayed cool thanks to the shade, which is a rare and welcome surprise! The kids there were all friendly, and the parents seemed attentive and involved, creating a really positive, safe vibe. My kids had a blast and would've stayed much longer if I hadn't forgotten snacks--lesson learned! We'll definitely be back, this time with a picnic and more time to explore.

I also love that this is right across the street from Commonwealth Lake Park, if you want to venture on a walk and see some of the local wildlife, or try another playground. There is always easy and great parking and it's kept SO clean and SO lovely year round. I have 0 bad things to say about this park!!! There are no toilets except for porta potties so if you're okay with that, fear not. But if you're like me, drive the 3 minutes to Cedar Hills Rec to use a real bathroom.

I started playing Pokémon Go back when my daughter had a Pokémon Go themed party for my oldest grandson. I had no clue how to play it. I downloaded the app to participate..and the rest is history! So now, I'm trying to level up to level 50. I've performed the level 50 research tasks, and all that's left is grinding the XP! That's where Magnolia Park comes in! You can find me here many days catching Pokémon, spinning pokestops, battling the gym and leaving a pokemon, defending the gym, doing raids..but most of all, getting my exercise in by walking the routes. There are so many routes at Magnolia Park! I usually pick 4 or 5 to follow, it takes me about an hour of walking to complete. There's incline for a little more difficulty, some routes go across the street to the nearby meadow and back again. And after each route is complete, I am rewarded with XP and hopefully a Zygard cell. I'm trying to collect 200 Zygard cells to change my Zygard form. Anyways, Magnolia Park is great for picnics, there's a big covered area. On this day, there was a family celebration going on. Play areas for the kids, checkerboard tables to play checkers or chess, BYO game pieces. On this particular day we broke a temperature high of 96. Kids of all ages were enjoying the splash pad. There's a tennis court that I frequently play on. People also convert the court to play pickleball here. So much to do, I love it!

Yes, we live in Portland, but it DOES get very sunny here and very hot on some summer days. There isn't enough respite from that sun/heat. And the splash pad isn't on for all that long. What is the deal with that? What I DO love: 2 play structures, one for smaller kids, one for big kids. GREAT since there are options for smaller kiddos. I love that it has a nice big field/grassy area for kids to play soccer, or to picnic on (on a cooler day.) Do beware of the bees/hornets/wasps. The park doesn't have traps. Parking can be a bit tough, so try and make it there while school is in session so that you can park near by. There is a porta potty on site at the park, but it is NOT clean. I will either hold it, or go to the Whole Foods, in walking distance. My kids just use the potty in the trunk of the car because I won't make them use that one. NASTY! They have the makings of a 5 star park BUT: clean the porta potty, add some shade or sails over the play structure to help kids NOT fry in the heat and keep the splash pad on for far longer.

Slides, step rocks, climbing structures, picnic tables in the open and shade, lots of benches, even water bowls for dogs - clearly a lot of thought went into the design and build of Spring Garden Park. It's close to Multnomah Village which is how I discovered it after visiting the food truck area and wanting someplace serene to enjoy my meal. Park right on SW Spring, just be mindful of not blocking the neighbors driveways as it's in a residential area. Close to SW Barbur.

We went on a sunny day and it wasn't over crowded. -1 star for personal reasons: my daughter is young (19 mo) and was able to swing on the baby seat swing, however, she was not confident to try the older play structure. The structure seems more appropriate for 2.5 and older. It has a pretty cool rock climber for older kids. My experience makes me wonder if there are parks in Portland that are more inclusive for all children and their abilities? I hope that Portland Parks and Recreation would be willing to rethink how they can be more inclusive when designing a park. I will be the first to admit I know nothing about building a park, but If I did I would want everyone to feel included.

Plus it's got a little bit of everything; paved walking paths, or dirt trails if you like; basketball courts; lots of picnic tables; tennis courts; two baseball fields; two dog parks; a skate park; an old growth forest (no joke!); open meadows; an up to date playground, and I'm sure a bunch of other things I'm missing. There's a small parking lot and usually plenty of on street parking if you're driving here, and Multnomah Village is just over the hill. And it's all free.

Easy to access from several locations, it…read morehas a multitude of wide open trails which intersect at various points and are excellent for walking/running either with a buddy (the human or canine kind) or alone if looking for some peace and solitude. This park can confidently be used year-round as the trees provide ample shade from the heat of the sun's rays in the summer, and the type of ground cover present on the trails helps to prevent them from becoming overly muddy throughout the rainy winters. On a side note, make sure to be heads up if using the cross walk on the trail that crosses Tigard Street as the surrounding trees can sometimes make it difficult for oncoming traffic to clearly see pedestrians, so they may fail to slow down. Always better to be safe than sorry... But overall, A++ for this little piece of backyard paradise.

So for myself, and for health benefits, this past spring and summer I decided to start taking tennis lessons. This was to add a change to my cardio regime. Plus, I haven't played tennis in over ten years. Here's a few information: * General Facilities & Parking Lot * First of all, the campus is fairly huge. And they appear to offer everything from swimming, to tennis obviously, league sports like softball for adults, and soccer/football/lacrosse for kids. They even provide maps for certain walking trails. The parking lot accommodates mainly for the aquatics center and tennis courts. But I've yet to run into an issue with parking close to the tennis facility and softball fields. Plenty of spaces, but I'd say more crowded closer to the aquatic side. Lots of kids taking swim classes. * Babette Horenstein Tennis Center * Did I mention this facility is huge? Yeah, there's a good amount of courts. I believe about twelve in total, maybe more. The cool part is, six are indooor and six are outdoor. The indoor courts are well ventilated for the most part, but can get real hot during the summertime. As for the outdoor courts, they seasonally set up a green tent during the fall and winter, but remove it around springtime and summer. You can reserve a court, but they've got various rates. Primarily depending on your purpose (yes pickleball players are allowed), your place of residency, and a time of day. I will admit, it can be hard to reserve a court due to its popularity. * Tennis Instructors * Thus far I've had the two Brian's, a Bill, and a few others. So far so good as all of them have been excellent teachers of the game. Very knowledgeable instructors. From area positioning, to racquet grip holding, to hitting routine and feeling, it's those little tweaks and adjustments here and there that really help. They make the classes worth it! Well, that just about sums it up! Just note that local residents receive more of the benefits versus folks like myself that live "out of district." Like priority sign-ups if you're looking for a class. Regardless, I still find myself taking advantage of what they have to offer.

Some of the lifeguards and management didn't like me for asking them to be more safety minded when we were performing gymnastic diving. Instead, retaliation, defamation, character assassination, everything to make all the people that like me to turn against me. THPRD is not supposed to be in the business of Destroying People. It does so in a very dangerous and low life way. it uses 'hit men', staff members from somewhere else, or friends, or acquaintance to cause trouble and sabotage people's reputation in real time. THPRD needs to close down it's management team and get all new mission, not to break from the honor code like it is now breaking, and to not lie about being all inclusive when it's a party club and if you don't fit in and stay quiet, you're out and personally attacked by staff and management. Dangerous place. Do NOT go to THPRD. Did so for ten years, it is slowly crumbling to death. Get out while you can. It's too late once they get you.
