I use Recognition Specialties for my business needs. ShadowBoxUSA makes custom shadow boxes to frame mementos. Most of our customers want engraved plates in the shadow boxes with information about the items. We used to order from another engraver, but always ran into problems with slow turnaround times and not being able to meet deadlines. The only other choice in our area was Recognition Specialties. I wish I had tried them first! They always meet or exceed expected time frames. A couple years ago, I would have had to give them only 3 stars because of typos in the engraving, but they have greatly improved both turnaround times and accuracy with orders. We've had no issues in the past 2 years. And, although I try to avoid it, periodically we need to place a rush order and they are always accommodating. Cheryl takes excellent care of our needs and has taken time to understand what we do so she can provide the best service to us... And she is always so pleasant. read more

Mixup on my name badge and they send with a heading of a company that I do not work for so I'm out $40 for that. Call them and Eileen says she can offer 50% off a reorder so I say ok I will place it. Go to place it and they say "sorry, no discount. I call and speak with Eileen and refresh her memory that I was already offered a discount and she all but denies she did and simply keeps repeating that she cannot offer a discount because they did nothing wrong. She tries to say I didn't speak with her. THAT'S FUNNY - HOW DID I GET YOUR EMAIL?!?! Oh yes, because you said you would rectify the situation and then offered the 50% off after asking me to forward the order details while you remained on the phone with me and reviewed the email. So they lie to customers and renege on deals. Poor customer service and the website is shit. When they send you a "mockup" it's not an actual mockup so how do you know it's correct. A mockup of a tag for Jenny Smith should say "Jenny Smith" not "NAME HERE." Cannot recommend this business at all. read more

Recognition Specialties is a manufacturing company with 25 employees, producing engraved products such as name badges for customers nationwide. High Performance measures were implemented into the company in 2004. Their successes from these lean techniques were documented on the Worksource Oregon website and also in Governor Kulongoski's 2004 Report.

Meet the Business Owner: Lowell G.

Lowell Gibson is the President of Recognition Specialties, Inc. Born in Grants Pass, Oregon, Lowell spent 14 years in Japan. He was in the hospitality industry for 16 years and owned a family-style restaurant in McMinnville, Oregon for 8 years before becoming president of Recognition Specialties in 2000. The effectiveness of high performance in his own company propelled Lowell in 2005 to found Southern Oregon High Performance Enterprise Consortiums (SOHPEC), where he is President of the Board of Directors. He was President of the Grants Pass & Josephine County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors (2005-2006) and is past President of SOREDI (Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development, Inc.).

I speak this of 1st hand experience knowing many close friends who have used them and even given them 2nd and 3rd chances with the outcome the same (poor quality, major mistakes, etc.) I would suggest looking elsewhere even towards Medford since there are not many other choices local for good quality, great service and good turnaround printing within the Grants Pass area. If however you need something in Grants Pass may I suggest Exhibitron Printing or Z-Tees.
