I had purchased a pair of shoes from the sale area and made the mistake of not noticing that there was a sign posted with "no returns" on the shelf where I had found the shoes. I returned the next morning and the salesperson told me that they didn't do returns on the sale items. However, she was kind enough to hear my story and asked if I had worn the shoes on the street. I told her that I only made it as far as the elevator of the hotel and found that the right shoe was slipping off of my foot. I wear orthotics and made the rookie mistake of not walking around with both shoes on and the orthotics in. Lisa was kind enough to let me know that we could work something out. I totally understood that I wouldn't get to do a straight return so I was pleased that she was more than willing to work with me on an exchange. I didn't have any luck finding a smaller size in the shoes that I had purchased but she really worked with me to find a pair that I liked and that fit well. She was the one to even suggest that I walk around the store for a period of time to make sure that the fit was right. The day before, I was shopping with my husband and didn't have a lot of time to really look at the store. Because I returned without him, I had some time to look around more thoroughly. In Galena, a lot of the shops can be pricey and I felt that their prices were decent and I really liked their clothes.

The gentleman owner was keeping the store open after hours when he saw the large group of bike riders milling about at Odie's. Well, that garnered him at least two sales. Many small stores in small towns such as Ely look the part of someone just trying to follow their dream, with little preparation and know-how, but this shop is different. It is well decorated, with careful thought as to how merchandise should be displayed. It is not a bare bones, quickly thrown together place, ala those that are just open for the Christmas season. You know the type. They have a nice selection of clothes geared to Hawkeye fans, Cyclone fans, and bike riders as well. The clothes for cyclists are not biking clothes, rather normal shirts, etc with a cycling motif. They also had merchandise very suitable for baby showers. We made a return trip two days later to pick up a U of I jacket that my wife liked, and the woman on duty was very nice. All in all, a very nice addition to Ely.

(They're coming up on their one year anniversary) I don't even have kids but have long said this is the type of store missing from downtown's retail roster and frequently shop here for the little kiddos in my life. SELECTION: A large assortment of baby, toddler and older children onesie's, shorts, bibs and hats compliment unique and hard-to-find toy brands, including wood toys, pillows, books and wall decor. Great gender neutral, feminist, LGBTQ and Iowa items. New items are constantly being added, including local pieces. The space is beautiful, airy and bright. SERVICE: Staff, including owner Macy Krall, are always very helpful and extremely welcoming. I don't have kids myself so it can be hard to pick smart choices. PRICING: Very affordable. I recently purchased more than half a dozen items for a friend's newborn and spent just over $120. The books and small accessories are especially extremely well-priced.
